Good diagnosis. But if I was in your place, I'd have told the owner to either top up oil every week or sell the car. The engine in this car is ea888 gen 2 with faulty oil control rings from skoda factory. It's a total messy design and carbon build in the these engines further aggravate the consumption. Oil consumption anywhere in between 500-3600 kms per 1l is apparently normal for this engine. I've driven it over 1.4 lac kms and it's a brilliant engine but this oil issue is rampant across all tsi gen 2.

Was this the correct diagnosis? I don't think air filter fault can cause such oil burning.
