Problem is, Korean audiences exalt high notes more than other groups...on the male and female vocalists alike...so voices like Amber's, or Moonbyul's, or innumerable others, are often relegated to being their group's rapper, especially in previous generations, but still true now in 4th Gen. Singers like Seulgi and Hwasa started making a dent in that bias in 3rd Gen, and 4th Gen has Minnie and Yuqi (among others) to, dare I say, make their pitches to improve the reception of lower tones. It's a work in progress.

Amber got chosen for her vocals during audition. But SM placed her as the rapper of the group when she sings perfectly well than she raps. That's their biggest mistake in my opinion. Her live vocals here improved tremendously ever since her solo debut. Her breathing good and overall, it's stable now. I'm so proud of her. I hope she's happier, now that she is more exposed to singing stage than rap. :)
+Minderp Bang in an interview, Amber said that she wanted to try rapping and be the rapper not SM. Both of their mistake is not working on her vocals because she sounds good so far but with more practice I am sure she can be as good as Luna.

I only checked this performance because people were hating on mamamoo for winning. Although there wasn't as much money put into mamamoo's stage, they sang with great emotion and showed versatility. Solar showed great control of her voice, and moonbyul delivered a great rap with good slow flow.

Such a great performance. 💖💖🌹🌹A beautiful song. Can't get tired of it or the sound of Luna & Amber together. As a fan of course I'm sad they didn't win 1st, but if that's how good Luna sounds right after being sick, it had to be close for sure. Also from what I've read I gather some people were commenting that Amber was breathy & her singing wasn't good enough yet & took away from it? I don't think so. Luna's clear power voice & Amber's soothing tones go together well to me, & they were going for a song that did that kind of style, like more they've put out together since. Plus Amber has had to divide her time on developing her very different skills of rapping & vocals (& directing & camera & editing, etc), while the others have spent much more time on just vocals. Even so, she is so good her voice & style are loved by fans (LIKE ME) of her solos she's been releasing. She's been considered talented by many other music professionals over the years. Though many collabs were for rap, some are for vocals too in recent years. (Like Fantasy with Superfruit which featured her doing both, & MILLIONS of people ❤ it.) I think it's just that a higher % of the audience prefered the other song more due to the style difference or song lyrics. Music competitions are subjective! So to me, both teams won because they did great jobs using their talents & made a great show. 🌹🌹🌹 Keep it up ladies! Love the solo stuff & also waiting for more f(x)!!!

That was refreshing. Luna's vocals had me in my emotions. When she held that note while Amber was singing and then took it higher I got the chills and replayed it about 3 more times because it was just a "yes Luna slay" moment. And literally I'm so glad to hear Amber sing. I absolutely love when she sings and I hate that SM makes her rap. She's a better vocalist than she is a rapper. I'm not saying she's a bad rapper but she's a better vocalist and I wish SM would take advantage of that more.

Such a great performance. 💖💖🌹🌹A beautiful song. Can't get tired of it or the sound of Luna & Amber together. As a fan of course I'm sad they didn't win 1st, but if that's how good Luna sounds right after being sick, it had to be close for sure. Also from what I've read I gather some people were commenting that Amber was breathy & her singing wasn't good enough yet & took away from it? I don't think so. Luna's clear power voice & Amber's soothing tones go together well to me, & they were going for a song that did that kind of style, like more they've put out together since. Plus Amber has had to divide her time on developing her very different skills of rapping & vocals (& directing & camera & editing, etc), while the others have spent much more time on just vocals. Even so, she is so good her voice & style are loved by fans (LIKE ME) of her solos she's been releasing. She's been considered talented by many other music professionals over the years. Though many collabs were for rap, some are for vocals too in recent years. (Like Fantasy with Superfruit which featured her doing both, & MILLIONS of people ❤ it.) I think it's just that a higher % of the audience prefered the other song more due to the style difference or song lyrics. Music competitions are subjective! So to me, both teams won because they did great jobs using their talents & made a great show. 🌹🌹🌹 Keep it up ladies! Love the solo stuff & also waiting for more f(x)!!!

That was refreshing. Luna's vocals had me in my emotions. When she held that note while Amber was singing and then took it higher I got the chills and replayed it about 3 more times because it was just a "yes Luna slay" moment. And literally I'm so glad to hear Amber sing. I absolutely love when she sings and I hate that SM makes her rap. She's a better vocalist than she is a rapper. I'm not saying she's a bad rapper but she's a better vocalist and I wish SM would take advantage of that more.
Amber and Moonbyul raps are amazing but when they sing is x1000 better. Their voices are so soft
