    QUICK TIP - HOW TO LATE 180 ON INLINE SKATES
    Shop Task ♡ goo.gl/Wpqnbs ♡
    Make your 180s more FLOATY and STYLISH with this small change in technique.
    Welcome to the Shop Task TH-cam channel. Shop Task is your neighbourhood inline skating shop. We have locations in Calgary, Vancouver, Seattle and Toronto. Our goal is to make inline skating more popular.
    My name is Shaun Unwin. I am the curator of the Shop Task TH-cam channel and manager of Shop Task YYC, the inline skate shop in Calgary. I am a lifelong skater with multiple certifications as a skate instructor through SkateIA. Please contact me with any questions by email shaun@shop-task.com or come see me at the shop goo.gl/h3pH8W
    In this video I show you how one small adjustment will create a more dramatic 180. In the previous video on 180s, • HOW TO JUMP ON INLINE ... , I demonstrated how you can use a surfer position and a toe pivot to learn 180s. To do a late 180 we simply have to switch to position of our feet while rotating the same direction. Voila! Now you 180s look even cooler.
    Thanks for watching.

    Love these tutorials, I just favorited 1-5 of your jumping tutorials ("heel pop" right down to "how to do a 180"), this slots in nice at the end.
    Oh and the gazelle breakdown, that needs some more viewing.
    I keep coming back to your videos, they're a huge help!

    That's a pretty nice move, and even more when you do a long jump before the 180, it looks cool!

    I have yet to really get to the 180s. As much as I can now do both heel pops and toe jumps reasonably solidly I am still hesitant as to simply just do them on a spur of the moment. Soon I hope these jumps just feel natural so I can get to that next step. There's quite a bit on my "practice plate" but I don't mind the slightest. It's just fun to see it shrink and then pile back up with more complex things.

      Haha! Soon as you learn one thing, you open the door to more things to learn. Life just keeps getting better.

      Shop Task Wow, that little simple comment has such depth, and it pretty much summarize my own philosophy and approach to life... 😊
      I just realized I'm kind of on the same stage regarding jumping. I've been working hard on jumping and 180s for many months, a lot (watch ANY of my practice videos...😅) but, although I'm already getting quite confident, I have like this mental barrier that keeps me from getting the jumping outside of the practice rink and into my actual city skating... I can't commit to start jumping over stuff either and, now that I think about it, I guess that is part of the problem. Next time I go skating I must start working on it.
      I'm also stucked with those little shitty 180s I do; as much as I try to convince myself that I'm able to jump significantly higher, and that my landing has been consistent for quite some time, and that I'm wearing full and correct padding and a helmet anyway... I'm just not feeling any progression, and I don't know what else can I do 😟

      Liam Roeth Thanks for the tip! That makes total sense, and I have actually thought about it and tried it every now and then, but I must take it seriously.
      In fact, now that the weather is finally helping, I'll start organizing some practice schedule and commit to it. I have soooo many awesome things I want to learn that my practice time is quite chaotic 😅

    So could u make a "how to skate in reverse" tutorial ? Saw some clips about it, but your explanations are the best since u break everything down into segments/parts.

      @schnelge 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, I would be extremely interested in a backward skating tutorial as well. And yes, Shaun, your stuff is pretty much the best learning material I have seen. Thank you so much! So happy you are doing this! ^_^

    • @wilfredlui5516
      @wilfredlui5516 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the backward to forward 180 would be good, I could do it but when I do it I think it doesn't look smooth... not sure how to do it a better way.

    • @FlowSkate
      @FlowSkate  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I will 100% make a video on backwards skating and transitions from back to front and front to back.

    • @wilfredlui5516
      @wilfredlui5516 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YES! and then the 360 after :) if there's any tip on it apart from you just have to spin hard enough and lose more weight haha .

      gofixmix I know the teorical part is very important focus in the technique ,but the practical should be more 40%~60%? if not the video could be a little boring,even so Shaun is doing great.

      @FlowSkate  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good discussion. I feel like I talk too much sometimes. A bit less talking could be a good thing.

    I can do 180 almost smoothly, but the problem I have is that whenever I try to look back in the direction of the movement, my body just turns uncontrollably to the side I turn my head to. This happens every time I try to look behind my back while moving backwards. Please help.
