@@bluefeatherhomestead Empanadas is a hispanic pastry. There are plenty of recipies out there. Just make sure the dulce the leche is as hard as possible, i am thinking if we leave the jars simmering for another 1-2 hours it should reach that concistency. I will definetly try this. I hope it works. My mom pressure cooks the condence milk cans and they turn into dulce de leche ready to use for empanadas. Is not runny, is more like a paste concistency. But it may be best to do it in the glass jars so one does not get all the chemicals from the metal cans. I am going to try your method either way. Thanks so much 🤗
Ok this is a year later but did it turn out good? I personally would cook mine longer because I prefer mine to be really thick like to the consistency that it can be piped in a piping bag but either way it's all delicious and that can easily be achieved by cooking it longer. If anyone's doesn't turn out dark enough u can seal it in food saver bags and boil it until it reaches desired consistency!
Excellent question. I wish that I had an absolute 100% correct answer for you but I have read many different times. My opinion only: that it can be stored for 1 to 3 months if it remains airtight and sealed. After opened it can stay fresh in fridge for about 2 weeks.
@@bluefeatherhomestead I know I have been watching different peoples videos and I’m all confused. I just started canning.thanks for replying. I’m from Alaska.
That's a great question. Thank you. I would think that it would take half of the time that it takes for half pints, but I'm NOT sure. I will try to find out, though. 😁
Oh that is an excellent question. Thank you. I am going to say YES because I have watched videos that people make it from scratch and it worked. Thank you for watching & for asking that great question.

I’m waiting for mine to get done. I’m doing 4 pints, I will give my twin sister two if it turns out I will make more.
Wonderful, that is so nice of you. Nothing better than a homemade gift, especially a delicious one.

@@alfredacaudle3374 Wow! A year later. I'm so sorry, I'm not sure how I missed your comment. I hope life is treating you well. Blessings. ✨️✨️
how long do you expect it to last in unopened jars?
About 3 weeks sealed and about 2 weeks if opened and in fridge. Thank you for your question & for watching.
Hi! In the video you said 3 months. It’s 3weeks or 3 months? Thank you in advanced! ❤ cant wait to try it !
Any idea how long you would process 4 ounce jars?

I only found a recipe using 4 oz jars to be using the crockpot method. I hope the link that I posted here works.
I like your method better than the crockpot method so I will try your and keep an eye on it.
Can I make this using homemade sweetened condensed milk?
Oh that is an excellent question. Thank you. I am going to say YES because I have watched videos that people make it from scratch and it worked. Thank you for watching & for asking that great question.
