    (From Wiki):
Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is the busiest railway station in Frankfurt, Germany. The affix "Main" comes from the city's full name, Frankfurt am Main ("Frankfurt on the Main"). Because of its location in the middle of Germany and usage as a transport hub for long and short distance travelling, Deutsche Bahn refers to it as the most important station in Germany facilitating regional transport and international highspeed rail transport with the ICE highspeed trains.

I worked at the hauptbahnhof in the early ‘80s …. I love Frankfurt and the train station… I would pick up a brochen with ham and cheese or a frikadellen for dinner and go up to the ticket office…. Once I watched a huge protest march from my office window.

Well sadly it's been 33 years since I have strolled thru these corridors. But, my favorite destination was Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen where I can unwind from a stressful week. I loved all the various theme bars and all the countries interpretation of a quality beer. Since being stationed in Darmstadt, I had to make it back to the station for the last train out.

In December, it will be 40 years since I first walked into this train station, to catch a train to Olsterholz- Sharmbeck, to get to my first duty station at Garlstadt.
Two years later, I would arrive back to Frankfurt banhof ,and then the airport to return to the USA.

@@truthseeker2321 My first time to see this station was in 1967 when my father took me to Europe and we stopped in Frankfurt and he showed me this area where he hung out when he was stationed at Rhein-Main in the early 50s, there was still war damage being repaired to the entrance facade. What I remembered was the train model under glass just inside that took a few pfennigs to turn on,,, we walked in and saw it again in 85 when we returned for another vacation, still there.

The picture on my desktop is from the Hauptbanhof! I Visited in 2017 and it was nice to see it again in this video. so thank you for posting this!
Loved everything about Frankfurt. The sights, the people. The food. Oh man. I miss the food. I loved greensauce so much i had to learn to make it when i got home. There isn't enough of it in the world. The mead and appfelwein every night was fun. And I am sad I'll probably never get to eat handkäse again. But the memories will be with me forever. This great little hole in the wall, too, called Kleine Hölle (Little Hell) I highly recommend to anyone.
As for the sights, I loved Römerberg and the old Operahouse. Never got to see the museums i wanted, but I was there for a convention and spent much of my time there.

I went to, and through this station dozens of times as a U S Army soldier in the mid 1970s. I've seen several of the mainline London and Paris stations, and many of the big European stations. My personal favorites of large stations are Frankfurt and Rome-Termini.

Lucky you- I could have been stationed in Frankfurt, but I let them talk me into going to Garlstadt instead.
It wasn't bad though, but the nearest big cities were Bremen and Bremerhaven, which were pretty good to go to, but you had to either ride the bus, or take a cab which cost about 60DM.
At least I got to see Frankfurt twice- coming from and going back to the USA.
I sure miss those 2 long dead years of 1982 to ' 84.

Bitte sehr, wo findet man die Maschinen, wo man die Fahrkarten entwirft/ gueltig macht? Ich sehe sie leider weder am Bahnsteig noch am Fahrkartenautomat. Can you please tell us where one finds the validation machine for the tickets? Unfortunately I don't see them on the departure platform nor near the ticket machines.

Hi, I am looking for tickets from Paris (Gare de L´est) to Braunschweig, and my doubt is that I see trains with connections in Frankfurt or other stations with 15 minutes between the arrival of the Paris train and the departure from the train to Braunschweig, is 15 minutes enough to transfer from one train to the other? I ask because I travel with 4 large suitcases and 2 children, one of 13 and the other of 8.

When I was here in April, the luggage lockers didn't function. They had been relocated from near Gleis 13 near the front entrance to the train platforms to the right of Gleis 13 somewhere before the tracks in the 20s. Most would open, but they would either return one's coins upon deposit, or they simply wouldn't lock once the coins were inserted. Has the lockers been repaired?

Danke for the video. I felt it didn't do justice to the station---there is so much clutter (ads, signs, stores spilling all over the place. It lost any sense of grandeur that you usually get in European HBFs. I guess this might be appropriate in a city dedicated to making and celebrating money.
