It's important to notice that while you were lucky with the punctuality of that particular train, FlixTrain isn't immune to the problems of the German railway system as the cause of those is the crumbling infrastructure - the same infrastructure both DB and FlixTrain run on.
I have taken ICE only. It was so badly crowded that I could not even got to my reserved seat. Had to stand all way (or I could be impolite and try to make a way to my seat through the train). That Flix train seems like a good alternative.
I have taken ICE a few times and it has been quite empty. Each time I travelled at night for the best price, so that's why. I checked Flixtrain Berlin to Frankfurt just now and it's giving me a similar price to ICE, around 50 euros, so I don't know why I wouldn't take the ICE. If it was only 10 euros as said in the video, that would be a good reason to take the Flixtrain.
I like Flixtrain. It’s cheap and solid. For small rides, I love it. You have an included seat, enough space for luggage and a nice customer support. I have done more than 10 rides with flixtrain already. Once we had a lateness of about 40 minutes. At the next day I got a 5€ voucher without complaining from me. From DB you get 25% of the usury price after an lateness of 60 minutes and you have to apply for your money. And the personal is much nicer than on DB trains. Great video! Keep this up.
I will ride this Sunday for the first time, to/from Stuttgart-Berlin...I will let you know how did that go LOL (fingers crossed my journey will be as smooth as yours).
I took this two weeks ago for a short trip (1 hour) and there’s no AC and the air in the carriage was really bad as the carriage was full and the windows shut due to rain…I could barely breath and it WAS SO NOISY ….
Due to the Deutsche Bahn strike I had to take the Flix train from Berlin to Cologne. It really wasn’t bad at all. It cost me €52 and it arrived on schedule. I had heard bad things about this company but decided to try it after watching your video. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it again
I travelled on a flixbus from Zurich to Frankfurt at a very very low fare. Your story about flixtrain is also good. Budget travellers are definitely benefitted! Thanks for the good coverage!!!
Thanks for the video! I live in China and trains always on time and go 300 km/h. But hey I don't care about comfort😊 I'll take the train from Berlin to Dresden on the summer - €4! 😎
Those trains do indeed have plugs, underneath the seats. I suppose if you do not know, you will not notice them. 😅 There were recently incidents with some of those plugs, apparently some #@$#% person tampered with the outlets, put a short wire in it, so when you try to plug something in (and you can not really see the outlet, because of it's semi hidden location) you may get an electric shock 😡, so it is best to visually inspect it first, get down on your knees.
I took it from Hamburg to Berlin once, went good with just 10 minutes delay. The carriage was very loud (noise coming from outside) but considering the extremely low price I think nobody can raise complains about it. It was so cheap that I was actually very happy just to arrive. On other trains it can happen to pay even ten times more for standing
I used it a couples of times and it was alright. Like Ryanair you get what you pay for and you pay little. I know some people though who had delays of 4 hours and / or their trains got cancelled one day in advance. So if you got an important appointment like you need to catch a flight, I wouldn't rely on them.
It was pretty darn good imo but very hot due to climatisation did not working also seats were very hard and got my ass hurting after 2h. Also no ticket checking so free ride if you decided to not get a ticket 😘
they dont provide instructions on where to find their busses. and also there can be long delays. it depends on the city. frankfurt is very well setup. Zurich very different. and prices are not always cheaper but usually are.
Your US ticket price for a 4 hour journey is way off. The only long haul train service we have is Amtrak and it’s not even high speed. A trip from NYC to Washington DC or Boston is roughly 4 hours and can cost $50 or more.
There's no US version of Flixtrain, SNCF OuiGo or UK Lumo. Only non Amtrak rail travel options are commuter rail in the Northeast, Chicago, California and certain other cities and states. And Brightline between Miami and Orlando. None of these are truly cheap. Amtrak occasionally offers super low fares to fill seats.
They give you a seat reservation for a random seat, if you want to choose one you gotta pay like 5€ extra, but yeah you can't buy a ticket without a seat reservation
It's terrible. I would never drive with them. Instead I would buy a BahnCard25 1st Class (25% for 1st and 2nd class tickets) and enjoy my 1st class ICE experience from Stuttgart to Berlin or Wurzburg to Hamburg. It's worth the extra cost. 🤷
Haha, another smart-ass... he has been to plenty of "third world countries" and taken trains there. By the way, "third world" means "non-aligned." It is a term from the Cold War that makes absolutely no sense today. Japan was also part of the "third world" back then. But I wouldn't expect you to know anything about history...
if u want speed or quality take an ICE if u dont have money, take this ... Its totaly fine, i never used it myself but my mum uses it twice a year and she says the worst thing is that the DB fuckes tehm over with not showing their delays and rest is fine xD

Agreed. The DB delays generally come from the network which is overcrowded.
I used Flixtrain in august between Berlin and Hamburg. All went very well, leaving on time, arriving on time for €20.
I have taken ICE only. It was so badly crowded that I could not even got to my reserved seat. Had to stand all way (or I could be impolite and try to make a way to my seat through the train). That Flix train seems like a good alternative.

Excellent review! Doesn't seem all that bad, especially considering the price.
Thanks, yes the price/quality ratio is pretty decent.
Thanks for updating this video with all feedback. apprecite your reveiw and feedback

I can’t understand how FlixTrain service take the same time than the ICE service between Frankfurt and Berlin 😟
It is worth to notice that they use south station in Frankfurt, because mainstation is a terminus and stopping there would cost much time.
I will ride this Sunday for the first time, to/from Stuttgart-Berlin...I will let you know how did that go LOL (fingers crossed my journey will be as smooth as yours).

Thanks for the heads up. Next week, I am taking a Flixbus from Hamburg to Berlin for the 1st time, I am looking forward to my trip.

It's not bad if you aren't spoiled...

Greetings from Croatia! I am born in America but now live in Croatia for over 3 years now. I love all your videos and keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot!

In February, flixtrain cancelled all it’s traffic in Sweden. It was a very good way to travel to Gothenburg so I hope it comes back.
"It's like Ryanair on rail"😅😂 that was a bar😅 and very true
5:18 There should actually be a regular plug and two USB-A power outlets in between the seats.
Wasn't there on this particular train.
It was pretty darn good imo but very hot due to climatisation did not working also seats were very hard and got my ass hurting after 2h. Also no ticket checking so free ride if you decided to not get a ticket 😘

Bro he converts euros into dollars to show the Flixtrain price in USD for American viewers. Has nothing to do with prices in the US.

The lack of plugs is really why I would not probably use it. But the price is insane :D
Better prepare powerbank as always 😂
Actually, they do indeed have plugs, underneath the seats. I suppose he did not notice - if you do not know, you will not notice they are there. 😅
Very informative video.. thanks:)
Its not bad i traveld to berlind and it was very good
Frankfurt, Fulda, Eisenach? Kassel - Wilhelmshöhe nicht mehr?

Very informative. Thanks
For the price, for some, extremely worth it.
flix is also in holland with bus and train
7;45, What, really that's super cheap? Wow your so lucky that you buy the most cheapest train, amazing.
Would have like to see the place you picked up the meatball sandwich. Glad you didn't get a rowdy train for under $11.00.
Got it from Backwerk 2:26.
What is the name of Frankfurt south station
Frankfurt Südbahnhof
Are you from Luxembourg?
Do you need a seat reservationforthis train?
They give you a seat reservation for a random seat, if you want to choose one you gotta pay like 5€ extra, but yeah you can't buy a ticket without a seat reservation

This is ultra luxurious train bro
Go to 3rd world countries and take the trains there, you will start appreciating flixtrain
