      Ben Baker my aunt from nc lives in a trailer home and its low key raw. We live in chicago in a single family home with 3 floors. And in that trailer home it was spacious. There was 3 rooms, a fat ass kitchen and a living room. It was pretty large all things considered, given it needed some repairs, and i wouldnt have set it up the way they did. But if they cleaned it up and inverted a thousand it would be great. The whole place was bigger then the first apartment my parents had when i was 12. 💀

      The trailer for a tiny house alone cost 4-5 grand. Add in materials, electrical, plumbing, etc there's no way a fully functional tiny house similar to that size cost 5-8 grand even if you build it yourself. A 16 ft tiny house with all materials and systems would cost around 15 grand, if you build it yourself. 20-25 if you have it built and delivered for you.

      The Acorn is on the smallest side of a usual Tiny Home. Right now, the average is around 250sq ft, and that can easily double depending on how much lift space you add.
      I'm lucky bc the tallest person in my family is 5'8" so it's going to be easy to have standing room in my lofts. And that's only if I choose to build on a trailer. I'm seriously considering buying some land and building a tiny cabin that way I don't have a height restriction. Plus, it just doesn't make sense to build on a trailer when I've got to way to move it.
      Anyway, there's no need to feel closed in. I've been in 150sq ft tiny homes that felt open and spacious bc all the furniture had multiple purposes. Check ou a channel called Living Big in a Tiny House (I think). They have featured at least 150 different tiny homes.

    • @Furiends
      @Furiends 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dkalisd I'm not sure of all the specifics but what usually seems to be the case is developed land is limited. In China thats usually because of how land is sold from the government. In the US its because people don't want cities to extend out their developed land into the suburbs. I also see this similar effect elsewhere it seems like it can happen in so many ways.
      The issue then becomes increase the cities developed land to lower building costs or let those costs and rent go up and then get sprawl. Then the city has to spend money extending services out to the sprawled suburbs instead of just developing more land.
      As you might guess its the latter that ends up using more land, more money and more resources than the former.

      But can u get a safe abortion or go to gay pride? Can you be trans and not be fired from your job just for that? Can you take a bus to all your needs? Are there things to do on the weekend other than sports bars and church? Can you shop for groceries at markets other than Wal-Mart? Can you go to multiple libraries and send your kids to a variety of good public schools? Does the area have reliable cellphone data and service? Some states are cheap for a reason. If you're straight, conservative and boring you can live anywhere cheaply in America but you might not have the best access to jobs unless you work online. If you're queer, artsy, female at birth and feircely independent, and career oriented, and not religious at all, only a few places will cater to your needs. Sucks that my dream locations are the most expensive but at least I don't have to worry about my rights being violated by the local good ole boys as much as others.
