UNUSUAL AQUARIUM ECOSYSTEMS thanks! I believe I just watched the same video. It was from aqua pros. What’s funny is I had thought of making the exact same system. Same design and all. I just never built it. Was cool to see it in action.
Cool video mate! I am also drying duckweed for better and easier storage. Using it both for homemade flakes and also frozen foods... Great content, Keep it up!
Poseidon’s Pets just spread it on a sheet of paper and let it dry works best for me 😊👌🏻 Its an annoying plant, but an amazing source of vitamins and minerals 😅
Sorry you are catching all my old videos where I leave you hanging! Here’s the playlist with all my homemade food vids th-cam.com/play/PLJxXZwarJOtudPCOwTlz-vxbX5Adf8ynl.html
I’ve never used it but if you clean it well and boil it it should be ok. Enough of it can add carbonates to your water though, so I would avoid it. Ground barley has worked well for me
Lol! With my luck I would have deleted the footage by accident in the time it takes to dry! I figured I’d just post the process and do a feeding video later 😉
Try it out! See if they will eat it in powdered form. You could even do something simple By drying it out, powdering it, and mixing it with a little water and agar agar to create a gelatin food. There are lots of recipes out there!
Who here has used duckweed to make fish or shrimp food?
Tatersalade let me know how it goes when you do!
Never made it specifically for fish/shrimp food but I'm here to learn your method 👍 👍
Aquatic Ma if you give it a go, let me know how it turns out!
Interesting idea, just watched a video of a guy making his own duckweed removal system.

I love that the dogs show us as soon as there is something potentially edible.
Amber Stevenson/Usiak you heard how many times I had to kick them out of the kitchen lol.
It smelled like fish so bad! They were probably drooling.
Great stuff man very helpful i look forward to trying to make some duckweed fish food ! i agree with you about the flour and yeast !
MusicAfter Dark I’m excited to see how it turns out! From what I’ve seen it should turn out good. As long as it drys fast enough!
Cool video mate! I am also drying duckweed for better and easier storage. Using it both for homemade flakes and also frozen foods... Great content, Keep it up!
Pat's Fish Tanks thanks for the support!
What do you find is the easiest way to dry it out?
Poseidon’s Pets just spread it on a sheet of paper and let it dry works best for me 😊👌🏻 Its an annoying plant, but an amazing source of vitamins and minerals 😅
Pat's Fish Tanks I just ordered a dehydrator, going to see how it works for spinach and other vegetables.
Make my own powdered foods
Poseidon’s Pets That sounds amazing mate! Looking forward for more videos 😊👌🏻
Pat's Fish Tanks maybe I’ll turn my channel into a fish food cooking show! Lmao
And here I've been taking it to the park to feed the ducks with.
rivahkillah that works too! Lol
I'd use a food dehydrator with the fruit leather sheets. Would do the same job, but without wasting the parchment paper, or taking up your oven space.
Sean Kiesser I’ve actually been shopping around for a dehydrator for this reason!
Have you ever made fruit of veggie leather for herbivorous fish like Otocinclus?
After watching your video. I have finally decided to get duckweed for my tank. Hoping for best. :D
TheMarlesh it can be annoying but it’s a great plant to have! Plus it’s never ending
Best to dry the duckweed first
Makes it easier for sure
I really want to try this. Sell me some duck weed lol!
ZooYorkBBY23 it turned out great!
Message me on Facebook. Depending on your location we may be able to work something out. Lol
He says make sure there’s no snails a little bit of protein 😈
The calcium and protein never hurt. There’s always gonna be some that get through 🤷♂️
very good, I am still planning on doing a video on make your own gel food with no animal gelatine
Thanks dude, I'm waiting for it! I'm curious on how you do so.
Oliver Knott made a human food recipe with duckweed 😳 lol
Aquatic Ma I’m actually very interested in growing some fit for human consumption.

Is it safe for all fish to eat ?
Yes, there’s nothing bad in it.
@@PoseidonsPets alright, thank you so much!
Does crushed eggshell work as binding agent?

@@PoseidonsPets okay thnx I can just use crushed up fish flakes right?
@@BoozHiro yeah, or you can purchase some powdered spinach or powdered kale

@@PoseidonsPets Its those darn butterfingers. But don't worry, I have prayed to the tech gods so everything will be alright.
Tatersalade thanks! I can use all the help I can get! I’ve got it sitting under a fan right now. Hopefully it drys quick.
@@PoseidonsPets LOL, good one.
Tatersalade need to invest in a dehydrator like Mark uses!
Can I dry duck weed then smash it up and give it to my guppy's as a snack

Poseidon’s Pets what's the best way to dry it?
Mason GT I leave it in the sun. Usually dry in a day or two
