Its so funny how 16 is the ultimate nullifier for both of them. His entire kit is suited to wipe both 19 & 20, and when they grab him they cant drain him because hes mechanical.
That's literally the only counter he has to them and it's not exclusive to him but all mechanical types. You would have been better off just saying Dr. Wheelo since he's mechanical and a giant.
Finally, someone who properly acknowledges the infinite dragon dashing, which I think is much more irritating than the easy tech grabs(I mean you can literally be in the middle of something and tech them). You can waste ANYONE’s sparking mode (which honestly is kinda justified considering how often people rely on it), and you can basically do all types of movement tech for FREE. That’s nuts. During my career in sparking zero, as a non cheese player, my numerous experiences with cheese players online have done nothing but make me stronger as I have ascended beyond types of cheese and they mean nothing to me anymore : Afterimage Strike cheese, regeneration cheese, giant meta cheese, insta spark cheese, Time out cheese. HOWEVER !!! All pales in comparison to that frivulous duo that is android 19 and android 20. For I once fought an opponent who put me in an infinite burst dash loop rendering me completely useless. As my one super counter would trigger a vanish where I would always end up losing due to the constant difference in ki bars that they make. No but in all seriousness. That dude made me realise how op that shit is. Because I've theorized that the only way to get out of that is to have master over the super counter during vanish wars but that currently is still too difficult for me. I couldn't do anything because he made sure that I wouldn't charge any ki and put me in that loop all the time.

Day 1 Android main here. Anyone B-Rank or above will tech every throw you attempt. Unless you catch them in a recovering animation or burn out their ki meter, they can and will mash the guard button and tech your throw, even in the middle of their perception. You should use your throw sparingly, just enough for your opponent to respect it, but not enough to be predictable.
Cell main since Tenkaichi 1, the androids have a great grab, but you need to regularly use all other offensive mechanics for the grabs to land. As long as you're in control, you'll know exactly when you can go for a grab.
It's the false courage that makes grabs obnoxious for 1 skull point, I mean, you can even grab during their combo if you wanted to you'll have false courage the whole match basically, your opponent will just have to be starting combos with heavy attacks or burst dashes, both of which are predictable and it just gives you more opportunities to punish them, and they have all their offensive options, they can just use normal combos and get an easy punish with super Armour on, they can make mistakes and still punish you, they don't even need grabs
@@Removedused the grabs have very long startup and recovery. If you dodge the grab you can combo them very easily. If you want to be stylish, you can use a special attack because that will make you backflip when they're too close.

The androids' ability to drain you out of Sparking Mode was a thing in Tenkaichi 3 and Tenkaichi Tag team too. And yes, it was absolutely infuriating back then as well because the AI *spammed* it.

The rush attack hit stun w/ False Courage can be played around if you play defense & get to the opponent's back; tested this w/ an Italian friend & apparently False Courage is voided on the back (or maybe just in the PAL version?), or you worry less about False Courage's benefits on the back. While they definitely are obnoxious, the devs did make them function like this so they could be more viable. At the end of the day, a truly skilled player might not even focus on abusing FC or throws, but rather focus on using FC strategically & only going for throws when they matter. In a real match against a high tier the gameplay for the most part would be different if both sides know what they're doing but, yeah... I can understand why people would hate these two. As for the infinite ki dashing, that's interesting. I didn't know about that part. Is it actually infinite, like even on 3, 4 or 5 bars of ki it still won't deplete, or is it only not depleting the 2 bars of ki they naturally replenish?

when i first started playing, i was matched against a dr. gero. all he did was grab, like, literally no other attacks besides specials, grab, grab, grab, grab, oh i got it once, SPECIAL! and repeat. mf playing sparking zero like a war of attrition
I have a friend who's whole strategy when playing this game was to cheese with Gero and clean up what was left with Ultimate Gohan. It was really annoying, and he doesn't like playing with my brother since he likes using Android 17/18 and Metal Cooler who can't be drained. 😂
Do not bother with the other replies, you can tech throws even while using perception (press perception button then hold guard button and it will automatically tech throws), and you can tech throws while staggered/stunned by a gut punch/sweep/whatever (as explained in 7:05), the only situation where a grab is true is if they're stuck in an animation (i.e doing a super or doing another grab and you grab them from behind) or if they're stunned by paralyzing smash Ki blasts or paralyzing skills (like the ones Cooler has).
Also, they can ki blast your ass, with no way to counter it, just min cast time charged ki blast on their back, and its guaranteed, only revenge counters work but not from the behind
so there are not unblockeables situations? If the rival knows the basic knowledge of rejecting throws what I can do, to continue making them? in previous games I had an opportunity to do things but no in this one
They are so cheesy. With the armor they can just attempt another grab if their grab is denied while being hit. I had someone against a wall and got off fifteen grabs. He quit and I don’t blame him. Easy to avoid that stray with sidestepping, but it’s still good against smart players because you force options out of them that you can predict, usually allowing you to hit a combo instead.
I know people hate these androids but teching grabs is too easy in this game. False courage can definitely be annoying but you are never worrying about sparking mode spam vs androids and they have to earn the grabs in higher ranks especially.

I actually think Gero is a super sick character (in series and not), but being a "grappler" in this game really sucks (unless you're Second Form Cell). Seeing as most grabs are the most techable thing in the universe, you need to really make your opponent forget about the gimmick to use your gimmick, which is LAME. If certain moves were throw untechable, I would be a filthy Gero player. I never play Grapplers because they tend to be sluggish, but it's the opposite with 19 and 20!
It's never precised whether or not he has a human base, but since 14 and 15 were fully mechanical he's probably that way as well, you can pretty much assume that all artificial humans (Androids in the english dub) are fully mechanical except 19, 20 (you can see Gero's brain under his hat) and 21 (Cell is a biological being, he doesn't have robotic parts he's an artificially created bug with alien DNA, he's still called an artificial "human" because his body is humanoid-like after his metamorphosis) The devs probably forgot he's not a cyborg-type of artificial human like 17 and 18, or they either don't care that much or it's based on an american dub which has him calling himself a cyborg

Did you watch the video? At 1:22 it shows them absorbing Ki blasts and supers by using super perception for Blast Attacks and using a mechanic unique to them for regular ki blasts. If you wanna hate on SZ, at least be accurate with your criticisms.

You can toggle that dialogue trigger off per character in the settings menu. That's what I did and now I never hear it
