It’s the fact that they managed to make this scene absolutely heart wrenching even tho we all knew she most certainly was coming back. What broke me, and other ppl based on reaction vids, was when Camila started crying in puppet form. There were so many tears 🥲

Luz means light, so when she died. The light that she had brought to Eda and King and to the boiling isles, disappeared. Any hope they had, gone because Luz was their light, she was the one who every single one out from the dark and made them see the beauty of the light. Eda learning to open up and reconnecting to her family. King discovering who he was. Amity learning that there was so much more in the boiling isles, creating and mending new relationships. Camila learning to accept her daughter as who she was and learning how to walk with her. Now their light gone, how do they move forward?
Well at least that’s how I took it. There a whole lot more to it, but I need some sleep.
She brought light to about everyone on the boiling isles. It goes as far to even say: Without Luz, Hunter would have probably been killed and remade by belos HUNTER GOT TO LIVE BECAUSE OF LUZ.
The fact her name has meaning that impacts the story to this extent is why I love Dana Terrace's Luz Noceda's character so much...

By extension, she helped Lilith, too... without Luz, she'd likely never have left the Emperor's Coven.
Luz’s death was even more sad than Anne’s. She died in front of Eda, King and Collector, the remnants of her soul felt by her friends, schoolmates, Amity and even Camila, who felt like she lost another person in her family after her husband passed away.
Luz may have been brought back to life, but resurrecting from the dead can change you in more ways than one.

It's wild. I knew she'd be resurrected and come back (because they wouldn't kill her off permanently, it's a kids show) but it was still such a gut punch. The music on top of the characters reactions just... I still cried. That's how you know a show is incredibly written, when it can still get you emotional despite knowing how it'll play out.
And imagine if had been two 20 something minutes episodes take a wild guess where that 23 minute mark falls? Right as the last light fades out. I would not have survived
Imo Anne's death wasn't that emotional but this one got me sobbing idk what it was
When the collector said "she's really gone" just made me sob even more during this scene, just the entirety of how he bade no sense of mortality untill this moment made it so much more heartbreaking
After that very moment, he knew
Watching and Dreaming OST has been very delightful, especially in this scene.
What works so well here is how The Collector learned about mortality. It was presented in a way a child can understand while not being childish. It’s just beautiful.
Mmhmm it was a wonderful lesson for the collector as well as it showed the audience that the collector truly was concerned for her, and he apologized for his wrongdoings. He learned kindness
Also, another thing to bring up is Belos. For all his supposed ‘care’ for Luz as a ‘fellow human’, she ended being the only casualty he got (even though it was temporary). And let’s face it, if Papa Titan hadn’t saved her, he wouldn’t have given a damn about killing her, just like with Caleb.
The Collector, however, was horrified when he finally realized what death really meant when he couldn’t revive her after she sacrificed herself for him. And he ended up changing for the better for it, as he ended up risking his own life to protect everyone, even getting exposed to the same fungus that killed Luz.
It really shows the Collector just needed some guidance and he’s fully willing to learn from his mistakes and care for others, unlike Belos.
all luz had ever wanted to do was be like good witch azura. she went to every length to ensure that she could be a witch, and always still good. even when she saw the collector, who she feels intense anger and even hate towards, she didnt hesitate to rush in and save them. luz giving her life for the collector is proof that she is exactly who she wanted to be: a good witch.
She never hated the Collector! She was certainly scared of him and what he could do with his power at first, but she quickly caught on that he wasn't truly evil - he was just naïve and misguided and needed help to understand how he was hurting others. But yes, she is DEFINITELY a good witch for giving him that help! 🥰

This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music in the entire series. I think it is made all the more impactful by the message it teaches. The Collector doesn’t understand that not all beings are immortal, as he is. Death is inconceivable to him, and yet it impacts him in a very direct way; his close friend dies. Many people have written that Camila’s grief brought them to tears. I was brought to tears by The Collector’s struggle with grief. It is hard to empathize with a parent’s grief, as I have no children to speak of. But a friend’s grief, a relative’s grief; I can empathize with that. Truly incredible how evocative the music and storytelling of this show is.
As heartbreaking as this score was in the episode, I'm so thankful to hear this extended version:

When the collector asked where she went, that hit hard. it reminded me of my reaction when i had to watch the life in my grandmothers eyes go out and fade away. the emotions didnt hit me until about an hour later, when we were in the hospital, and they told us she was gone. then thats when the tsunami of emotion hit me like a star falling from the sky. my only thought was that, I never got to say Good Bye.
It hit me even harder because of King and Eda's reactions.

Brilliant scene. So much can be told in that instance with luz's sacrifice. Also, the sad realization that Camilla for a few moments, as a puppet, lost both her kid and husband.

Man, when I saw her slowly disappear, I just didn't have time for tears, I mean, I was sitting there and watching in silent disbelief, my mind going through so much, at like, 100 mph.
I legitimately thought they had killed her off. Like I kept thinking "it's fake, it's a trick right? They wouldn't would they!???" As the scene went on and the lights floated everywhere I was GENUINELY convinced.
You cannot imagine my outrage/relief when she woke up in limbo 😭
That aside this is such a beautiful piece of music, it's really started an obsession in me for that chiming instrument that starts at 1:04 if anyone can give me the name of it I'd be so grateful🙏
I'm not positive but I think that the instrument is a Celesta, which looks like a smaller piano except it has metal bars inside instead of strings. A Celesta is also used in the Harry Potter theme.

That’s because unlike -Amphibia- Midphibia, the world is allowed to exist without Luz, even as she dies, time moves on. Even before she’s arises anew.

Even though Luz was hoping for The Collector to be burned by Belos, she still on instinct went to protect him. The shock in her face when she got hit. Man. I really.told myself how unfair it was. So unfair that this someone taught a diety how to care and forgive others and she was shot down by evil. And I really thought she died too. I never got thay emotional over a character death, ever.
She did NOT want the Collector to die! She said to the Titan that she was hoping it was him that destroyed Belos, not the other way around!
@@MegaFafnir Right! I don't understand how people misunderstand that, when Belos was a terrible villian the whole series and Luz *just* emphasized with the Collector and realized he was just a lonely, misunderstood kid like her
Now, you gotta understand... I'm not someone who tears up often when it comes to shows. I'll absolutely feel the emotions, but it's not often when tears actually fall. But I've watched the episode over a dozen times now, and every time this scene comes up, I tear up. Without fail. Seeing Eda and King's faces as she's fading away, Camila's tears, the Collector's frantic attempts to bring her back... I knew even the first time I watched it that she obviously couldn't stay dead, but it still hits so hard every single time. Oh, and not to mention, this isn't even the only scene in the episode that makes me cry every time I watch it. WithOUT FAIL. Dana and the crew did such an unbelievably wonderful job on this episode; even despite the obstacles they faced getting to this point, they took it in stride and sent it way farther than I imagined. It genuinely felt like the perfect ending.
I still rewatch the final episode mainly for how well this was portrayed. Most fake out deaths aren't able to portray the amount of motion The Owl House did.
My little sister and I watched the finale together, and I wasn't ready to cry as much as I did. Dana knew how to write this scene, and it just makes me wonder what else could've been done if they were just given time.
Pretty sure this will forever be a show I'll remember. Thank you for this wonderful rendition. Its beautiful

Me wearing sony headphones and able to hear at a high volume than never before because of my right deaf ear so i can now hear EVERYTHING. It made me cry listening to at night with my eyes closed in the dark. Especially if you think of your childhood or something with this song
the whole "dana doesnt like happy endings" thing really had me scared when Luz died. i didnt think she was gonna come back, being honest. and the fact some of the kids at hexside saw the orbs and their faces changed as if they recognized it :(

His pure innocence of not knowing what just happened, and the fact that he was about to learn it, is so scary and heart-breaking!
Ah yes, the background song along with the scene pulled hard on my heart strings. It was pretty awful to see Luz's body literally seem to dissipate. 💔

When belos tried literally crawling to Luz I was like what is she gonna do? SHE STOOD THERE AND DID NOTHING. Luz had a hard decision to face and I'm so glad Eda and King made that decision for her. ❤
Belos the man was already dead at that point. All that was left was his sense of being the hero in his own pathetic story that would never come to fruition as he could never gain what he wanted and never let go of his childish feelings about being the hero who killed the witches.

The moment I start watching listening to this song, my breathing gets heavier, my sight starts fogging up, and my heart started breaking.
Luz saved the collector because she saw herself in him. He was a naive child used and cast aside by Belos like Luz, Lilith, hunter and the other grimwalkers, kikimora, and probably hundreds of others. He blindly showed kindness to someone who didn’t deserve it. Dana Terrace is a fucking genius.
The fact that king was the first one to lose control after Luz died just shows how much of a sibling bond he has with her
Not gonna lie, I was with your Luz Theme epic version some days before the last episode. I really hoped to see this song having your version. Damn it I screamed like a goat when you did it first !! This is awesome ! I've watched this scene for hours just for the music and you did it ! Your epic versions are inspiring, peaceful and such masterpieces 💙
I like how King usually shouts in a comedic manner, someting akin to a baby, but still powerful. But after seeing Luz die it changed completly. It much more rage and hate in it.

Something about this particular song from the soundtrack always reminds me of Studio Ghibli films (especially Spirited Away?) To me it sounds like wind chimes- a gentle song in the breeze, there's something so melancholic yet magical seeing those lights floating in the wind- knowing what they mean, it's so beautiful but so somber at the same time
I honestly can't even communicate how much I adore the entire owl house show, every second was well made, sometimes it was sad, sometimes you could see people grow, and sometimes it could teach you the beauty of our differences. This show did representation perfectly, it highlighted neurodivergence, the lgbtq+ spectrum, and so much more while also maintaining beautiful plot. The animation, the character growth, the story, it's all just a magnificent work of art, and even when it was cut short by money hungry villain's at disney, it worked perfectly! If there's any show I care for most it's probably the owl house.
