This possibly could be Scorsese's Best film yet! You can just tell he put his heart and soul into this one, if this is his last film then he for sure will go out in a bang! This movie will sweep at the Oscars, guaranteed. De Niro and DiCaprio both are doing amazing jobs, I can just tell by watching the trailers that most of the performances in the film could be Oscar Worthy and it could possibly be Martin Scorsese's 2nd Oscar Win for Best Director.

He didn't finally win because "The Departed' was that good -it's b-list Scorsese, still good, but nowhere near the top of his game - he won for all the other times they snubbed him. ESPECIALLY 1990 with Goodfellas (he lost to KEVIN COSTNER, actor directing his first film) and in 1980 with Raging Bull (when he lost to Robert Redford, actor directing his first film) and 1976 with Taxi Driver (where he lost to Rocky, Sylvester Stallone, actor writing his first film, lol). They HAD to give the Oscar that year. Hilarious. One of his least personal movies, a remake of a film that was better, and his worst mob movie (Marty does Italian way more authentic than Boston Irish).
It would be entirely typical of the Oscars to shower this with awards. Hollywood to the bone - make a big fuss about a movie and then ignore the actual subject matter.

The Barker Gang, Pretty Boy Floyd, the Central Park Gang and many more criminals lived in Tulsa Oklahoma and Oklahoma in general. Killing people for money was nothing new. My wife is a Cherokee as are many of my cousins, and it’s incredible that story’s just keep coming. The Cherokee nation had about 50,000, in the 1600s and now they have 450,000.
Fair or not it’s probably common for actors to be cast for a certain look . They will look like the villain or the hero or the victim, the sad sac the diva ect . The trailer looks and sounds amazing.
I cannot wait for this film. If you have a fascination with Native American stories, I can't recommend Terence Malick's "The New World" enough. One of the best films of this century so far. (so is his next film, "The Tree Of Life". After that, though Malick went overboard!). "The New World" tells the Pocohantas story with incredible performances from Q'orianka Kilcher, Colin Farrell and Christian Bale. Visually astounding, you feel like you're actually there. If you want to see one of the great films about Native Americans, one that actually does it well: do not miss "The New World".

I read somewhere that Scorsese wrote the screenplay from the killer's POV, making it a true crime story whereas the book is a detective story.
If you're a reader, I highly recommend the book. This case ultimately led to establishment of FBI.
