Mike, Congrats on having the patience of Jobe and the first start-up of this EPIC restoration.👍 Ferdinand is smiling down and nodding his approval of your accomplishments ... 🤓👍
Thanks luvinlife A test of patience for sure on this one.. what the....geeze But we got it in the end and the sound of that engine is pure music Cheers to Ferdinand!
Hello Kevin thank you! Wow 20 years restoring cars..You must have a great deal of patience I think.. Lots of different ways to get there but patience is the magic bullet wishing you all the best with your restoration work! Cheers
Congratulations Mike!!🎉 Been watching you build this car for the last few years. Awesome to see this car finally running! Outstanding work! Hopefully get to see this car on day. Congrats again 👍🏼
Mike Congratulations!!! I have been following every episode for the last 5 1/2 years as when I was retaining I wanted to restore a 1968-1973 911 (I got the Porsche bug at age 10). After looking at your videos and seeing the level of detail that it take to make things right, I decided that if I ever find the right car I will follow your restoration steps. Thank you so much for documenting this process.
Hello Carlos Thank you I wish you the best of luck in your search for a good 911! There's a lot of them out there but finding a suitable candidate for restoration can be a long wait. Please be sure to let us know when you find the right one=) Cheers!
Mike - what an impressive startup. Your patience to get things completely right is so impressive. The engine sounded great from the very first ignition. It’s hard for people to appreciate all the small (and large) setbacks in a project like this. I appreciate you sharing some of them to give people insight on what the real process is like. Oh - and 5,000 hours! Wow! What dedication. Congratulations!
Thanks Kaplan Its been a lot of fun to share this special car and its truths.. Bringing a dead car back to life is no walk in the park for sure,..but the sound of that engine sure put a smile on my face=) Cheers!
What a delicious sound! Congratulations Mike, and thank you for sharing the journey with your meticulous videos! And true to form, it continues to fight you; but those are the stories that make you our idol. I hope this milestone tastes as good for you as it does for all of us. Fantastic!! Mike, I was restoring a 944 (not to this extent of course) and the timing sensor bracket was broken. I got it finally sorted and the car still would not start!! Finally realized that the ECU was trash. Hunted for another one for that particular year (1988) which was quite difficult. Found one for a decent price, slapped it in the car and it started right up. The joy/relief/excitement was almost as good as watching your car start. Has it been 7 years? Absolutely fabulous!!
Hello Mark Thank you.. Its so funny..the principal of a chain being only as strong as its weakest link surely applies on a first start up. Where ever the problem exists it will reveal itself immediately. Im glad you got your worked out also! Cheers

What is the downside to not using Sta-bil? Have had vehicles from 1923 and up, have never used Sta-bil and never had a problem. Have mostly heard it is snake oil.
Hello DH
Its basically a chemistry thing.. Stabil does a couple things for our modern fuels.
One is to help preserve its longevity as some of these old cars sit during the winter and for other various reasons. Rancid fuel it really hard on the engines. the other benefit is helping to neutralize the caustic effects of the modern methanol blends. These blends are caustic to zinc , zinc die cast, and rubber seals /diaphragms. Old fuels were more petroleum pure and had lead as a lubricant in them when these cars were originally manufactured. Stabile is not a cure all for the modern destructive fuels but it does give some edge in preserving and neutralizing its effects on zincs and rubbers
