TAWQ Horenstein Quintet 2

Quintet No. 2 (Portals) by Stephen Horenstein, performed by the Tel Aviv Wind Ensemble, Israeli Premiere. This extended wind quintet explores the potentials for orchestral breadth indigenous to these traditional instruments. The emotional undercurrent is meant to reflect our current times both its challenges and joy. The composer was also inspired by natural forms, especially the movement of tree branches as pendulums beating in different cycles, speeds and dynamics. The piece also tells a story, narrated by the individual soloists and the ensemble's unified solidarity.
