The first cup of brewed coffee I drank was July 8th 1989. Day 1 of US Army basic training. It was cheap ass army issue green label can. It said “Coffee caffeinated.” On the side of the huge can. I think that is what it said anyway. I had never tasted coffee so good in my entire life. Growing up my parents drank hot black Sanka instant coffee. My dad always carried a big metal thermos He would put in 10,12,256, I have no idea spoonfuls of Sanka in his thermos. Pour in the boiling water put the lid on and shake it. Everybody used instant coffee in my family. He always took his own coffee and he had a green cooler that he would snap his thermos onto. He never once in the 27 years he worked for P and G did not take his thermos to work. He also went 16 years without missing a single day of work. He took his vacation time of course. He finally broke his streak when he had a minor heart attack. When I graduated AIT in late December of 1989 I bought my parents a best I could find at the PX Bunn Coffee maker. It was near 100 dollars. In 1989 that was 1/7th of my take home pay for the month. Yes I was an E2 in 1989. My take home pat was $707 dollars a month. My son was an E6 in 2019. When he separated from the Airforce he made like 1800 dollars every 2 weeks. He was drawing uniform pay and off post housing pay. Plus he made a bit more because he took civilian coursed and was FAA certified on every part of his job. Anyway my mom didn’t know what kind of “regular” coffee to buy. My grandmother told her to buy some 8 o clock coffee beans and use the stores coffee mill to grind them. Actually it was pretty decent coffee. Now she’s into hand grinding her own beans from some place in Mexico. She pays a stupid amount on Amazon for this coffee. Plus like yourself she uses a French press. About six years ago she started putting 2% milk in her coffee. Now she uses fresh un pasteurized milk from Trader Joe’s. Needless to say when I get the chance I always take her up on the offer when she asks me if I want a cup of coffee. We live about 12 hours from each other. So I only get to drink her coffee about 3 days each year at thanksgiving time. And to think, it all started with Army issue chow hall coffee.

I think your points are fair. If I could choose between instant and ground, I would always choose ground because of how much more rich it can taste. I still use instant coffee when I don't have time to wait for the french press method, and I think it still tastes and smells alright.

Working as a baker getting up in the morning with the birds real early - Coffée is one hell of a wonder drug, it really does wonders for your brain. Going for 2 days without, I heavily noticed a decrease in clarity and thinking.
I want to take the journey one day and become caffeine independent, but for now I really just need 2 cups per day - One in the morning and one at work, no coffée after 12 pm for the sake of good sleep. Works wonderfully :)

@@la6823 Heey Adriana thanks for your golden advice. This is a magical brew that I have done for a couple of months and I enjoyed it. The problem appeared when I realized that the material my juicer was made out of was toxic chemical plastic, I simply had to stop using it.
So now I am looking to invest further into my health and buy a new awesome quality juicer. I've been looking at one of those Omegas, what a machine that is. - What are you currently using to make your healthy celery juices? - btw, thanks for reminding me of just some of the INSANE health benefits! this is something I have postponed for a long time, hopefully not for much longer! :)

When someone doesn't know that instant coffee is real coffee, just completely dehydrated via freezing process, you know that person is absolutely clueless about coffee.
