    Very nice and practical tutorial! I like this approach and the lack of unwrapping needed.

    Nice. But need more info hjow to parent things starting from 1:44, I see too many options and have no idea what to click =( "Set the weight to each coorespondend bone" - how to do that? If I click weight I can only change the number... Don't see any relations buttons there.

    • @alexandre.albisser
      @alexandre.albisser  ปีที่แล้ว

      When you parent the mesh to the armature with "empty groups" that creates vertex groups (see on the right of the screen)
      If you look at what I am doing, I am first selecting some vertices on the 3D view, then choosing the vertex group (on the right pannel) to which I want to assign them (the vertex groups has the same names as the bones of the armature), and then clicking on assign to set the weight of the selected vertices to 1 for the vertex group I selected (which is itself linked to the bone of the same name)
      Basically that's what is called "skinning", you set the control influence of each bone on the mesh using the vertex group. That's a standard rigging practice, for which there are more detailed tutorials
      Hope that helps!

      @@alexandre.albisser I found a problem for me...
      So what I do is: 1) cut the box 2) create armature and pin bones to the boxes edges 3) choose Armature as a parent object
      After doing step 3 - there are no vericle groups ( Maybe I have to make them first before I assign armature as a parent object?

    • @alexandre.albisser
      @alexandre.albisser  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@msFiBi you must parent to the armature using Ctrl P, which opens a menu from which you choose the "empty group" option, which creates all the groups

    Great tutorial!! I just can't figure out how to make the inner part have a white texture instead of the outer graphic. How could I do that?

    • @alexandre.albisser
      @alexandre.albisser  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do that either by switching the texture with the" backfacing" output of the Geometry info node in the shader, or with a different shader and a solidify modifier to create thickness and two different sides, then which you can switch the material for each side with the Material index property of the modifier!

    • @alexandre.albisser
      @alexandre.albisser  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am assigning the vertex group corresponding to each bone to some vertex of the mesh. This step is called weight painting or skinning and it is one of the main steps of assigning an armature for deformation. The kind of visualization I put on the screen is about the best way I could find to explain how to set the weight for this armature!

  • @mahdi3467

    Hi
    I saw in ur final clip that the box have thickness and look more realistic, how did u create a thickness to a plane image, tried several ways and not working, thx

    • @mahdi3467
      @mahdi3467 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Even solidify modifier is just doubling the image with a space between .

    • @alexandre.albisser
      @alexandre.albisser  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you put solidify modifier on a plane which has some transparent parts, then the sides will just be transparent, hence your double image with space in between. The solidify only thickens the existing geometry so you must cut your plane to the exact shape of the box first for the modifier to create side thickness where you cut it, and make sure to remove the alpha in the shader in this case.

    • @alexandre.albisser

      If the problem is only happening in Eevee or in the Material Preview mode, the issue is probably the "Show Backface" option under the Settings tab of the Material Properties.
      You can access it only when the Render Engine is set to Eevee.

    I'm currently designing my own pack of cards, it would be great if there was some way I could use your exact animation but with my own deck. Is it possible for you to sell me the file in some way and have me *easily* switch out the image?

    • @alexandre.albisser
      @alexandre.albisser  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for asking, unfortunately that's not something I plan to do,
      I try to make it as accessible as possible with all the tutorials and some free files and systems on my gumroad, but anything beyond that and we will be looking at too many commercials that look too similar.

      @@alexandre.albisser Thank you for your response I appreciate it.
      I'm looking at making a pack of cards for a small livestream community that regularly receives 100-150 viewers daily. I'd like to make a promotional video to advertise the cards. It's a passion project, it's my first time doing anything like this. I'm not that particular about exactly how it looks, almost anything would do.
      I don't have the experience myself to make a video, I only have limited experience with 3d modelling and none with animation. Do you know of any services or files available that could help me put something together?
      As I say I'm not in any way targeting the playing card/magician community.. Nobody will even wants the cards if they don't watch the livestream, and even then I imagine not that many will actually want to buy them so it's not expected to be any sort of money maker, just a passion project.
