G4 is both a very stimulating show and it has enough depth to keep you thinking after the episodes end. Plus I've read the comics, chapter books and a few dozen Fanfictions and the quality is consistent (if you pick the Fanfictions carefully at least). I think Season 7, where these episodes are from, is definitely where the show was at it's peak. Like, the Seasons before were good (Season 5 is my second favourite Season) but Season 7 was just banger after banger. It's a shame G5 really fell off near the end, with the writing quality, like, I unironically have seen more emotional and compelling fan animatics than what we actually got with Misty. Also Sunny's mum appeared like for 5 minutes in a flashback short which didn't feel right. The shorts format was just not very satisfying and when the Make your Mark Chapters dropped it just felt, idk, forced sometimes? I enjoyed them as pieces of entertainment, they definitely had a solid comedic ground, but the Tell Your Tale shorts were so rushed, like they even skipped past the part where they decided to move in together. It's like the McDonalds of MLP compared to the four course meal we had with G4 or the first G5 movie. Not bad but not satisfying either.
