Discord knew to take the elements away because he underestimated them before, and they bound to the Mane Six meaning Celestia couldn't do shit. 3. The MILF Bug feeds on love, and got so über-powered by the amount she absorbed from Shining Himbo and the _literal Princess of Love_ that she became strong enough to knock Celestia on her ass. Both Celestia and even _Chrysalis_ are shocked by this happening, because Chrysalis on any normal day would get her absolute shit wrecked by Celestia. I'm pretty sure that the only reason her and the other Changelings look like Swiss Cheese is because Celestia burned holes into Chrysalis so hard, it literally got passed on to her children's children. Like, canonically. Luna works from the hour the sun goes down to the hour it goes up, has to raise the moon and keep track of (and manage) the dreams of literally every pony in Equestria through the entire night. Whenever she sleeps she tortures herself for becoming Nightmare Moon. That mare isn't waking up if you launch a canon next to her head, and quite frankly she deserves the sleep. 4. Celestia at this point probably agrees with you on the "We could slap his cheeks" point, which _is precisely why_ she sends Twilight. Her thought process was probably "Twilight needs to learn, so I'll send her. If she can't do it, Cadence and Shining are there. The only things Celestia has access to that can stop Tirek once he absorbs enough energy, especially the magic of the Princesses, are Discord and the literal "I WIN" button that are the Elements of Harmony. Discord at this point seemed to be on their side, and if he wasn't a fucking idiot (and if Tirek hadn't maxed out his Charisma) he'd have defeated Tirek with a literal snap of his fingers. Once that didn't work out, of course Celestia doesn't go after him herself - that's the entire reason why they give their magic to Twiggles instead. Tirek becomes near-unbeatable with enough magic, and Discord can already only be beaten via magic absorbing (which at this point only Tirek has) or the Elements. Like, what would the plan here be? Go out, try and fight him? At that point they'd just get absorbed anyway, making him even more of a threat. 6. That's...actually not a bad point. I guess in these timelines the villains just learned from their mistakes? Nightmare Moon just went on after imprisoning Celestia, like in episode 1. Chrysalis did the same scheme but just killed Celestia instead of knocking her out, again with Cadence's love. Tirek absorbed their magic, as there was no one to beat them. Discord felt like winning and snapped the elements away like in his normal episode, with no one to find them again. Sombra was left alone too long, managed to amass an army and embroiled Celestia in WW2. The wasteland is just Fallout Equestria. 7. Yeah that's fair. Chrysalis managing to capture every princess is kinda fucking stupid. Hell, Chrysalis doing that instead of _killing them_ is kinda fucking stupid. 8. Straight up Magic Venom, ain't no pone beating that shit. The old Elements literally rather sent themselves to oblivion than fighting that thing and I don't blame them. 9. Quite literally no one saw that coming. The kid basically operated Grogar's Bell with wifi from a random basement. 10. The vines were going to spread across the entire country, possibly further, if not stopped. We see how hard they are to get rid of. The gang were successful in defeating Sombrerror last time, no reason not to send them there again and keep the most important village in the entire country from getting Japanese Tentacle'd. 11. The 12 year old had Grogar's Bell. Fucking _Discord_ gets his magic stolen by that thing and becomes useless. Magic absorption (along with Discord's magic and the Elements of Harmony) is something that no character in the whole-ass show can resist.
Correction: Celestia planned to lose to Chrysalis in S2. In the comics (yes the comics are canon) Celestia could've defeated a lot of the villains easily but she decided to let Twilight handle it herself so she can learn, she is a teacher after all. This also includes Tirek.
@@icedemon8419the comics are not completely canon, cause some stuff in there are definitely different from the show. But the point with Celestia still sounds reasonable.

I wish there was a good explanation for why celestia made twilight do all her dirty work. They could’ve just explained that she’s washed and hasn’t had a real challenge for years because of princess duties
See, if Celestia was actually an useful princess, Twilight wouldn't have had her "character growth". She's really calculated everything, our family friendly Thomas Shelby.
I might be late to this, but remember that Grand Gala episode where the Mane Six was hyped, thinking it would be the best night of their lives. And everything goes wrong for everyone, then AFTER the party, Princess Celestia says that the Gala always goes wrong.
I'm pretty sure the show implies in the "Royal Problem" episode that Celestia actually tremendously holds back her power 90% of the time out of fear of turning into Daybreaker ( who is stronger than Nightmare Moon, capable of literally turning herself into a living sun and incinerating all of Equestria). She could have pretty easily defeated Chrysalis, King Sombra and Tirek (in his middle stage form) if she went full Daybreaker mode on them but she obviously isn't going to do that. There is also the fact that she wants Twilight and her friends to be independent and strong heroines. If she did everything for them then they would just rely on them and not learn anything.
What about the other timelines where twilight didn't become celestias student and they lost in everyone that Twilight visited. Not once did it even have daybreaker or them winning in some way.
@@bunnyconcubus8468 because daybreaker is a fucking villain too 💀 even if she did go daybreaker mode she’d still be losing technically because she’d be the new villain

i feel like what would help is us getting a spinoff of what equestria was like before twilight while luna and celestia began to come to rule. Then we could actually see the feats they claim to have
I actually somewhat object to the Chrysalis defeat. Chrysalis even said herself that came from feeding on shining's love. Someone get this man checked out if his love for his wife is enough to beat god that needs to be studied.
Starlight actually had feats! Impressive feats too. She banished Discord, switched the cutie marks of those fraudsters, created alternate timelines, and held her own against Chrysalis. She is more deserving of being an alicorn, and a monarch.
You forgot the nost egregious one of all! In the movie, a pony hailing from a hostile enemy bordering nation crossed hundreds of miles in a slow moving zeppelin somehow without raising any alarm, despite being incredibly unsubtle, to the very capital of the country, and within minutes captured Celestia Luna and Cadance with a few magic orbs and some martial arts! A single enemy airship conquered the nation of Equestria in minutes without even firing a shot! This one act proves by itself that not only are the Princesses themselves frauds, but the entire Equestrian military and defense system is a comple and utter joke!
Yeah, he canonically pretended to be defeated by sombra to make twilight more confident Also the only times he has been defeated were when he underestimated his opponent and got caught off-guard
I can't believe equestria has 3 powerful alicorn and they just sit on throne all day doing nothing instead of defending they're cities/countries/towns/states,etc
Finally someone calls them out. It also makes you go hmmm I wonder why so many of Celestia's ex-pupils come back as villains. Maybe shes a shitty Princess AND a shitty teacher.
I think that the Princesses were just sidelined for the earlier seasons because "WE NEED THE MAIN CHARACTERS TO CARRY AND EVERYONE ELSE TO SUCK OTHERWISE THE STORY IS BORING" until later on it became a meme and it's just kinda become part of their character to really suck at doing anything. The biggest acknowledgements of this come in The Beginning of the End and Between Dark and Dawn.
I feel like that adds to it. I wouldn’t call the Princesses “Frauds” but the way I see it, Celestia knows that she can defeat the threats but rather has the Mane 6 do it to find it within themselves to defeat them because she knows they’re time has come. I always appreciated stories where the protagonist/next in line seek guidance from an all powerful figure but then when they have to defeat a great evil it kinda gives the protagonist a moment to shine rather than taking the easy way out. It really helps build tension/drama and makes the protagonist’s more likeable and/or relatable.
Yeah, they could have worked together to do that so Shining Armor could focus more on the wedding. He also wouldn't have gotten the headaches. Yeah, A Canterlot Wedding does have several writing problems, doesn't it?

Can we speak about how useless the Royal Guard was during entire series? The Guys who were supposed to defend Equestria and be the reason for alicorns to not enter the battle personally at all? They were losing in like EVERY enemy encounter, also comparing to Storm King's militia they look GREATLY outdated in terms of equipment (blame Celestia) They're somehow even worse than Stormtroopers.
@@dmitrykhvostik5975 But let's be honest here, as some fanfic put it "The guards are more for show than use, anything that can clap DEITIES cheeks can't do anything to them" So my headcanon is that the royal guard is more like a police force and a shoe of "power" to other nations.
My theory is that Celestia is a really good actor. Remember that episode where she tries acting and is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE? I think she was faking it. Somepony who has been a leader and public speaker for that long would never be that bad at acting. This is integral to my theory. Most of the villains are paid actors and all dangerous situations are controlled all for training purposes. Celestia is ensuring loyalty without fault by testing Twilight to the fullest extent. Her being so egregiously bad at acting is to help cement the facade because she is always acting. This theory is even further evidenced by how she casually turns the pawns she has used into stone at the end of the series and also explains why she defeated all these villains so easily in her past. She can and does hold the power to do as she pleases but chooses to allow these villains a chance to be free while knowing she can take it away if her student fails. Or we can take the real boring alternative theory. Writing convenience.
to be completely honest i feel like celestia had a hands off approach with twilight defeating the villains ect so twilight can prove that she is worthy of being an alicorn and prove she is worthy to take over from her and celestia so they could retire
Honest to god, I wonder if Celestia getting absolutely bodied at the wedding was a wake-up call, since she started prepping Twilight for ascension to Princess-hood soon after.
What if Celestia and Luna are just better politicians than fighters? In a war scenario, you wouldn't expect the President to fight in the front lines now do you?
Especially in Twilight's Kingdom (Discord's betrayal was actually really out-of-character, but I guess they had to give him character development, and needed a plot device) Celestia decided that she'd put all her, her sister's, and her adopted niece's magic into a literal college kid with the excuse of "Well, he doesn't know you exist, BUT, there is literal imagery of you plastered around the kingdom, and if he finds out, we're all royally f_cked! Run along now! By the way, you can't bring your friends, good luck lol!" The thing is, Celestia and Luna are literally goddesses, and Cadence is an up and coming goddess, while Twilight is the newest alicorn and equivalent to a really talented twenty-year-old. They can handle their own magic better than she can, and ALL of this was hinged on "Oh, he MIGHT not know you exist, and he MIGHT not find out you exist, and if he does, you MIGHT be able to put a fight while we put our trust in a lunatic and make ourselves completely useless!" Look, I love Celestia and Luna as much as the next guy, but how tf-
TBH I have never watched the show before and seeing how the most powerful and popular characters of the show get destroyed of every threat just goes to show that they are just there to be princessess like my friend who is trash at Roblox could spawn in his Roblox character avatar and take them out.
love the analysis in this vid, but can someone PLEASE for the love of god tell me what that breakcore track around 4:20 is. That shit goes hard af and i NEED to hear the full version
Luna did hella more than Celestia, not only did she try destroying a massive threat of a thing (Forgot name) that could destroy all of Equestria, she used all her magic to do so while also not wanting nor needing the help of Twilight or her friends because she didn't want them getting hurt or having to deal with in her own words "her mistakes" and through all that she won. she also fights nightmares all the time and barely ever gets any sleep she makes an actual effort and while doing that had to try her hardest to restore respect after loosing it after being taken over by nightmare moon and speaking of that had to recover from having all her magic stripped from her after the elements of harmony rebirthed her and took away all the dark magic. She has actual regret of everything she put her subjects through and generally tries to be a good role model and had to deal with the fact that her sister even though does nothing gets more attention and praise while she is left in the dark till the point that she lost it.
@@Lennyxx Half the episodes she is shown to also be awake during the day alongside her sister, rewatch the episodes, I wouldn't say it if it was a lie.

Thank youuuuu, good points! It was also because writing obviously to make the plot interesting, but ye.

Correction: Celestia planned to lose to Chrysalis in S2. In the comics (yes the comics are canon) Celestia could've defeated a lot of the villains easily but she decided to let Twilight handle it herself so she can learn, she is a teacher after all. This also includes Tirek.

Ok but luna did do alot more then celestia , when Luna got banished apparently in the comics celestia left to go universe hop , leaving equestria in a pleague , , Luna wanted to fight sombra when celestia wouldn’t let her ,also in the movie she’s the one who saved twilight from the stone, Luna could have flew off like CELESTIA said but she pushed twilight out of the way .

You drop this 🧠
i dont think shining armor was fooled by the bug. she was just freaky enough for him not to care.
That and she was consistently brainwashing him.
That's actually been confirmed to be Celestia's intentions in the comics.

Can we speak about how useless the Royal Guard was during entire series? The Guys who were supposed to defend Equestria and be the reason for alicorns to not enter the battle personally at all?
They were losing in like EVERY enemy encounter, also comparing to Storm King's militia they look GREATLY outdated in terms of equipment (blame Celestia)
They're somehow even worse than Stormtroopers.
@@dmitrykhvostik5975 But let's be honest here, as some fanfic put it "The guards are more for show than use, anything that can clap DEITIES cheeks can't do anything to them" So my headcanon is that the royal guard is more like a police force and a shoe of "power" to other nations.
PLSSSSS THIS MADE MY DAYYYY UR SO FUNNY
Hey, at least the princesses are good for one thing: They make astronomy in MLP needlessly confusing.
Nah, she's just weak. The elements of harmony are the ones usually doing the work, she's just a pony holding the weapons.
I mean, if we're committing to theories because they're more exciting, then I'll jump on this bandwagon.
@@ZamokuhleMathe one question tho how is she an alicorn if the elements of the fucking ender dragon carried her

Incompetent politicians, just like in real life. Hasrbo W on accuracy
What if Celestia and Luna are just better politicians than fighters?
In a war scenario, you wouldn't expect the President to fight in the front lines now do you?
They did that stuff In the past
Especially in Twilight's Kingdom
(Discord's betrayal was actually really out-of-character, but I guess they had to give him character development, and needed a plot device)
Celestia decided that she'd put all her, her sister's, and her adopted niece's magic into a literal college kid with the excuse of "Well, he doesn't know you exist, BUT, there is literal imagery of you plastered around the kingdom, and if he finds out, we're all royally f_cked! Run along now! By the way, you can't bring your friends, good luck lol!"
The thing is, Celestia and Luna are literally goddesses, and Cadence is an up and coming goddess, while Twilight is the newest alicorn and equivalent to a really talented twenty-year-old. They can handle their own magic better than she can, and ALL of this was hinged on "Oh, he MIGHT not know you exist, and he MIGHT not find out you exist, and if he does, you MIGHT be able to put a fight while we put our trust in a lunatic and make ourselves completely useless!"
Look, I love Celestia and Luna as much as the next guy, but how tf-

There's no way there isn't a curse of some kind, where you get extremely nerfed if you become a ruler of Equestria.
If you consider G5 as in the same timeline, then Twilight lost to literally the same thing Chrysalis did, except this time she was the ruler
I’m pretty sure the crystal empire was a test for twilight to see if she could be a princess. Think about it, she had to talk to, monitor, keep and check and basically manage it in the meantime. Makes sense for it to be a test for her to be a princess.
