It always confounds me that people (especially women) cannot seem to accept reality. My sister was complaining over July 4th weekend that she'd gotten ghosted by a fellow she met online. He'd shown up, taken her out for a meal and some live music at a local venue, and then taken her home. He was polite, they had some conversation, but nothing happened, and he never returned her calls after that. She's using a profile picture of herself when she was 31-33 (she's 41 now) and about 60 pounds lighter. She also failed to mention that she has a kid (single mom, of course) and her baby daddy is not around. She does have a job, but only makes a bit over 12$/ hour, which is not really good, even for Ohio.
I mentioned this to her, and asked her if she was in her late 30's (the guy was 38-39, hydraulic engineer for a local firm, from her description in decent shape) and had a good career and took care of yourself, and you met someone that was about 60-70 pounds overweight and had misrepresented their age and family status to you in the course of getting a date, would you call them back?She literally blew up, told me that I was one to talk for being a fatass loser, blah blah blah.
Now, I'll admit, I'm 45, about 5'6, and easily 290-300 pounds. My job isn't the most glamorous thing ever (I load and unload railcars of grain for a distillery) but the pay is good (32/hr ) and overtime is plentiful. I'll have my house (it's not the greatest or the biggest ever, but it's mine) paid off in two more years, I own my own truck (no frills F150 for hauling crap around for stuff like home care and yard stuff) and am above water on my little fuel economy car (because 5.29/gal blows donkey nuts when you have a 40 minute each way commute) and will have that dealt with in a couple more years. I have no credit cards or major debt. I have a 401K. It's not huge or anything, but I'll be able to retire at about 65-67 or so and be secure. I have never portrayed myself to anyone, co-worker, peer, or potential romantic interest, as anything but what I am, middle class/blue collar. I do not consider my physical attributes to be anything but what they are, I'm fat but strong, and like steaks and whiskey. Nor my financial situation to be anything but what it is, generally good, but could be better without that car payment. What the hell happened to honesty?
I cannot understand why people cannot just accept reality. If you dislike the reality so much, work to change it. I accept that a car payment is a source of debt and this annoys me, so I work extra and pick up overtime to pay it off faster. Seems very simple.

These flags could be a result of insecurities, emotional and/or mental immaturity, childhood emotional neglect, attention/validation seeking, attachment issues, etc.
Observing people's personalities, character and behaviours rather than focusing on their 'physical attractiveness' is a good way to overcome the halo effect.
Also, like attracts like, so make sure to be self-aware and reflect on your actions/behaviour to grow and mature as a person. And be compassionate to others as you'd be to yourself.
These are just my observations & opinions and should be held up to scrutiny.

After listening to so many podcasts, what I have seen is that any time the conversation/point is against women, women stop generalizing and basically, try to disprove the rule via the presence of exceptions.

Reminds me of a similar situation where me and a friend (both singles males at the time) yrs ago was dancing in a club on valentines day night where there were couples present. Me and my friend got daggers from the blokes with their girls when we were just danicng away. Then a woman came over to dance with me and my friend who had her boyfriend in the background. I said to her "Is he your boyfriend?" to which she replied "yes". I said to her "goodbye" and me and my friend just turned our backs on her and carried on dancing.

The burden to disclose what type of relationship people want is on all parties. If a girl is having sex with me, she has at least disclosed by her actions that she's comfortable having a sexual relationship with me. If she or I want more, we need to express that and be prepared for the case where they do not feel the same way.
