- Horse rescue - we saved her life, but had a little mishap on the farm. Doctoring horses, training horses, and grooming horses are all in todays plan. We even take Penny our beautiful Palomino horse into the round pen for some basic horse training. It was a beautiful day on the farm and we got some good things done!

Penny 66 has got to be one of the most beautiful palominos I've ever seen. Whoever she ends up with will be the envy of their town!
😢Thank you😢We rescued an American Standardbred, Pretty Pearl, and had her until she was 30 yrs, 4 mo. She was so ornery at first and turned into a loving, gentle family member.🙏 for Cherry! She is a beautiful big bowl of Cherry. Lol ❤️
Running cold water on that a couple times a day would speed healing

I like Cherry Twist 66. It's like saying poetry every time you say her name. A special name for a special girl.

I like Cherry Twist. It has a little sass to it . She’s a sweet girl, with a lot of personality. I think the name suits her perfectly. God bless for the rescue!
U are a blessing to many unfortunate horses . It's a good feeling when one can help animal's too . Continue help cherry twist it's so nice . My late husband got a mare from on the Navajo rez she was super skinny and very pregnant 11 months + near death . We didn't think she could live through the birth of her foal . Had the vet out he done what he could and told us what to get to help her. To our surprise she gave birth one night to a very weak foal but after a few days he got stronger . With all the supplements and good food Mrs T had gained about 50 pounds before his birth I think that's why he lived . But they both grew strong together . My husband love that mare road her every day after she got to safe weight . She was a special girl . Got lil stud colt cut and we got him a good home . He was a great looking bay . When my husband passed I got the mare a good home it was tough I just couldn't keep her hope she's still living her best life .
This Lady is a real beauty. I can tell by the excitement in your voice how happy you are to have her join your family.
Naming someone... whether a cat, horse, kid, or a goldfish, is always a crap shoot, but if she were mine, I’d call her Cherry T.

I think cherry 66 sounds like a good name for her offspring. Cherry Twist sounds like a nice name for her. She is a nice horse.

I do hope Miss Cherry is a permanent resident on the farm. She probably has not been out of a box stall most of her life except to hit the track. She's not used to an outside pen. I'd be doing water therapy on that leg at least twice a day and put some cut n heal or an antibiotic ointment on the cuts. I bet between 66 and her, them babies would be awesome barrel horse prospects :0)
I like the name Second Chance because she was a racing horse and you gave her a second chance at life. She is BEAUTIFUL! Just like your family

Neat horse we had HAMMER a race horse and loved him finally gave to farm that rented horses to ride on beach.
I'd pick one name, it's always harder to remember more than one... Cherry is as sweet as she seems to be. Horses can also sense when they are no longer wanted/needed and for them not to wait 6 months for her to be ok is a huge bonus for you on the farm. She knows you saved her life and the fact that she's eating and comes right up to you, she's grateful for her new life and new family.

Cherry is a very nice horse . i think she will make you a nice brood mare. she will probably be a lot of fun getting her used to western saddles and riding . you might try some cool water therapy on that swollen leg a couple times a day along with what you are already doing. just running the water from the hose for 15 minutes helps. i really hate puncture wounds they are such a pain to treat and so easily infected. so glad you are on top of it for this mare You did good.

Since so many of us like the name Cherry I agree with Nena Elliot and think you should call her Cher! An elegant name for an elegant horse. To bad about her leg, but looks like it’s not her first injury, maybe it’s just the way the camera picks up her coat. I think you already name her first filly! So sweet! Can’t wait to see her filled out and Blake upon her. Everything’s new to her , but if wild horses settle down on your ranch I’m sure she’ll love her new home life!
Poor thing. She must have been terribly abused wherever she was before. What in Gods name are all the scares all over her body from if not being abused. You did save her life in more ways then one.

Jumping is not natural for horses. The 1000 lb animal, in the wild, runs from preditors, to save its life, as it's a prey animal..but they don't go looking to ruin their knees, joints, tendons, etc, by JUMPING repeatedly, over stuff.

Quarter horses are an "off shoot" of the Thoroughbred. Thoroughbreds are part of the "MIX"

Can't wait to see her babies! Beet pulp will surely put weight on a horse. We used it to supplement our aged horses that were dropping weight .( You soak it with water and it expands). It's cheap and effective.

My family ended up with a retired race horse Friday that way. Best horse we had. Only thing was nothing else could be in front of him not even a dog or she would want to race it.

Thank goodness you are around to rescue such a beautiful horse. When considering how to feed a TB there are the usual factors of how she'll be kept, age, size, work et cetera but the 'usual' way to feed a racehorse is something that you may want to avoid. They're fed to produce short bursts of extreme speed. The work you will require of her is closer to that of a longer distance runner. I found that with a highly strung native pony grains were the worst way to go. Needing calories for warmth in winter and for a more sustained type of work I found that vegetable oil was a really useful feed. It takes time to introduce it to the diet in any useful quantity but it is unique because it does not add bulk to the ration whilst adding lots of slow release energy. Ideal for keeping warm in winter and for work in summer without silliness. A 14hh British Native pony (a thrifty keeper) had about a quarter pint of vegetable oil every morning and evening feed all through the Winter with cooked extruded barley rings, soaked sugar beet and balancer. Worked under saddle, lunged or driven every day. Easy to scale up the amounts to help Cherry Twist to put weight on without risking laminitis or silly behaviour and to keep her from losing weight keeping warm in winter. Hope this helps 😁.
