This is the platonic ideal of a trailer. It shows us so much, tells us exactly what The Adventure Zone is, and doesn't actually spoil any of the big reveals.
Magnus's nails! Taako's invisible hat! The name cards! From the creators and creator of those creators! The pause of violence after license to kill! Garyl! Julia! LUP!!!! Every frame of this is perfection, I can't stop watching it over and over. This trailer showcase why TAZ basically saved my life last year and continue to make me so happy.Good job✋🏻 and congrats to everyone that worked on this!
Guys my girlfriend got me into TAZ a few months ago, and I just finished it last night. Gosh darn McElroy’s, I’ve never felt so invested in any characters as much as these three lovable doofases. Thanks for all the laughs and tears and good times, and I hope that you’re all doing well
I showed this to my friends who've never listened to TAZ before, and my favorite part of sharing it was just pointing out all the stuff from 1:29 to 2:11 and every second repeating myself "That actually happens. That actually happens. That actually happens." This trailer makes no bullshit up, every second is accurate to the story events of the podcast. Which, for the weird stuff like a town in a bubble going apeshit for a split second then being fine once again, or the instantaneously understandable and awesome stuff like Garyl, really makes me wonder why my friends haven't listened yet. I showed them this trailer almost 2 months ago, I think. I need to up my salesmanship game.
Do they like DnD, My friend got me to watch "here there be gerblins" to show me what DnD is like, then tricked me into watching every single fuckin' episode I love her so much
My friend showed me this at his house on a whim while I was visiting him during Christmas break. We were both pretty sleepy at the time and it was so bizarre that I had no idea what was going on. I almost didn't start listening to the podcast cuz I'd never been a podcast person, but I convinced myself to give it a chance and MAAAAAAN am I so happy I did! I became legit obsessed with the Balance Arc. I can't listen at work so I BLAZED through all 69 episodes in my evening free time.
@@douglas98465 ironically, taz (and other mcelroy content) was my workplace soundtrack. I blazed through each episode multiple times, im currently doing it angain in quarantine
Up to 2:15. I saw this video well over a year before starting Balance, which I’m nearing the end of now. My heart dropped as soon as Magnus was given true sight in the Suffering Game and I recognized that final redrobe scene, had to come watch this again immediately
A friend I met online actually recommended me the podcast, of whom I lost contact with a while back. I need to thank them sincerely, because it was such a _fucking OUTSTANDING_ podcast.
Hey, critical role did it and got 10 million dollars and is making a full series, so, I think the taz comunity could get 2 million and make 2 or 3 20 min episodes at least!
I haven't listened to the entirety of the Balance Arc, but this trailer really spurred me on to keep listening, and now I am addicted. It's been incredible, picking out moments and recognising them as I listen to the episodes.
You wouldn’t have to spend time animating all of the player talking, just the characters doing and saying the stuff that happened in the episode. (Of course, that might actually make it longer, since it takes more time to show something happening than to say it does...)
Actually, the episodes would probably only be about 30-40 minutes if they excluded all the outside player talk. Actions in DnD are only about 6 seconds of in game time so it would probably work out.
i was midway through balance when i started making my dad listen to it. it had officially ended by that point but i was a latecomer. i could only see my dad over the weekends but he loved it SO much and every weekend we would listen to it practically nonstop, in the car if we were going somewhere, on speakers if we were home or at his studio. i think it rekindled his old love for d&d. he started playing d&d with his friends and even started making dice towers for them. we listened to all of amnesty (loved that too) and some of grad together. he passed away unexpectedly in april of this year but i'll always be thankful for this podcast for bringing me and my dad together so much when i was having a rough time trying to connect with him. some of my favourite memories with my dad were made because of this podcast. i can't thank you guys enough.

about 4 years ago TAZ reignited my passion for art and set me down the path to become an animator. I'm in school right now and can finally appreciate how much fucking work this must have been. It's so good!
I honestly would adore an animated series for this, but I also know that to make a quality product it would be a huge undertaking, and I don't think they have the time, honestly, in between all the other stuff they have going on atm and going forward.
P.B. Falkor nah the mcelroys described it as a trailer for the podcast itself, sort of an onramp for new listeners. an animated series would be dope though!
Man after progressing so far into the series certain points in this trailer actually brought a tear to my eye and most of it makes me laugh hysterically every time I watch it. I know this is probably terrible but I really love the part where Merle says “God lied” and it syncs up with the music. The animation and the editing is just so perfect and I love this video so much.
I watched this and a few animatics long before I ever listened to TAZ. I just finished it about an hour ago and went back to watch all these again to see how well it held up. My god, this is amazing. This is the platonic ideal of a trailer. It shows us so much, tells us exactly what The Adventure Zone is, and doesn't actually spoil any of the big reveals.
Nothing in life gets me more hype than the Wonderland Round 3 music
I love the glowing hat taako wears?? Like a+ character design there! Also, that upsey moment was goddamn terrifying and I loved it
Paige Bandit our lifting friend!
The tiny clip of Magnus and Julia brings tears everytime
The Adventure Zone is my favorite anime
Magnus's nails! Taako's invisible hat! The name cards! From the creators and creator of those creators! The pause of violence after license to kill! Garyl! Julia! LUP!!!! Every frame of this is perfection, I can't stop watching it over and over. This trailer showcase why TAZ basically saved my life last year and continue to make me so happy.Good job✋🏻 and congrats to everyone that worked on this!
digitalmeowmix ....whos Lup?
It's a Spoiler!
digitalmeowmix obviously you haveny listened to stolen century
Lol oh right! You got me!
When did taiko get the hat? I forgot
Guys my girlfriend got me into TAZ a few months ago, and I just finished it last night. Gosh darn McElroy’s, I’ve never felt so invested in any characters as much as these three lovable doofases. Thanks for all the laughs and tears and good times, and I hope that you’re all doing well
YOU THREW MY WOLF IN THE FIIIIIRE!!!
Zed Bee Call him off or lose him forever
LordDeraj But he’s my favourite wolf and you threw him in the fire tho!
You threw him in the fiiire!
Zed Bee Fellas, fellas, fellas! We came here to talk
becca smith33 WELL YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE YOUR DOG JUMP UP MY ASS!!!
Do they like DnD, My friend got me to watch "here there be gerblins" to show me what DnD is like, then tricked me into watching every single fuckin' episode
I love her so much
My friend showed me this at his house on a whim while I was visiting him during Christmas break.
I need to thank them sincerely, because it was such a _fucking OUTSTANDING_ podcast.
it's been like 4 months since i finished TAZ Balance and i still burst into tears at the sight of Juila and Magnus
Who do i have to pay to get the entire series animated like this????
Hey, critical role did it and got 10 million dollars and is making a full series, so, I think the taz comunity could get 2 million and make 2 or 3 20 min episodes at least!
Jade Reynolds where is the paid one at?
Does anyone ever look back at the red robe and just think about how much a nerd Barry is
Laffontane Light was this post made by Lup?
Hey, Critical Roll just got theirs Animated series crowdfounded.
WHEN'S TAZ
Well I've got good news for you buddy
@@caram740 OH SHIT ITS GONNA BE AMAZING (i hope) YES
NOW!
Good news!
@@quinnmarchese6313 explain pls??? Is it the animated series or is it the Graphic Novels?
Can we get a Netflix series??
Stephen Chemical hoLY SHIT YES
I would donate to get an official TAZ Balance Arc on Netflix.
Honestly though please
YES PLEASE
with these designs. hell yes please. the world needs an The Adventure Zone tv show.
I haven't listened to the entirety of the Balance Arc, but this trailer really spurred me on to keep listening, and now I am addicted. It's been incredible, picking out moments and recognising them as I listen to the episodes.
Update?
I'm listening through the podcast for the first time, and every time I finish up an arc I come back to this video to see what new thing I notice!
I’m on my third relisten and I’m STILL noticing new things that I missed in my initial listen. The TAZ rabbit hole goes deep
Magnus has painted nails! Merle' s design is great! Taako had a glow hat! This is amazing!!
I think everyone would flip their shit if this became a tv show because the animation and designs are amazing
oh man, 2-hour long episodes tho? The work. Haachy-Maachy... the work required would be mind boggling.
Roll for passion.
I definitely would!
Well its a damn New York Times bestselling graphic novel now so that's pretty neat
i was midway through balance when i started making my dad listen to it. it had officially ended by that point but i was a latecomer. i could only see my dad over the weekends but he loved it SO much and every weekend we would listen to it practically nonstop, in the car if we were going somewhere, on speakers if we were home or at his studio. i think it rekindled his old love for d&d. he started playing d&d with his friends and even started making dice towers for them. we listened to all of amnesty (loved that too) and some of grad together.
he passed away unexpectedly in april of this year but i'll always be thankful for this podcast for bringing me and my dad together so much when i was having a rough time trying to connect with him. some of my favourite memories with my dad were made because of this podcast. i can't thank you guys enough.
i cant believe this i just started TAZ a week ago with my friend and i. am so god damn floored right now. your campaign is so fun and interesting to listen to and this animation is incredible. THESE DESIGNS are incredible. thank you mcelroys...
YO WHAT EPISODE U ON
You should check out the fan art out there, including the art in the Adventure Zine. viva tres horny bois
I'll just tell ya now: brace for feels.
Oh maaaaan. So many of us fans envy your position right now, getting to listen to everything with fresh ears. Just when you think things get real in the story? They get real-er. More than several times. Real-er is a really real word also. Hopefully by the time you finish the massive Balance Arc, there'll be half another major world/story for you to start off into. Welcome aboard
aaaaa beware of spoilers in this and any other youtube taz content, trust me you dont want to spoil this fuckin amazing story.
I just finished the balance arc, I'm filled with such love right now and it's all directed at this video
God, mood.
"When the going gets tough...
...it's their own damn fault."
Yup, that sounds about right.
I went from 100% hype to 200% hype the instant Garyl came charging in with his shades and glitter rainbow road
AAY YO NETFLIX I THINK YOU GOT A SERIES ON YOUR HANDS
I. WISH
LORD PLEASE
1:36
LOOK AT HOW SMALL AND CUTE ANGUS IS
MY BOY! THERE HE IS!
WOW!!! THIS IS AMAZING!!! :D The long pause after "Do we get a license to kill" is cracking me up
I love the Taako changing hair colors all the time, aand of course literally everything else :)
I watched this before listening to the balance arc. Every once in a while I check back in to see what new references I can spot. It’s an absolute joy, excellent work!
Noticing the Sizzle It Up clip the second time watching BROKE ME. Noticing Sazed in the background of that clip when going back to it a third time DESTROYED ME.
bubblesdraws7 what point was that in the video?
2:06
AAAAAAA
Oh damn you i didn't need that
Holy shit the license to kill cutaway was dope
I just consumed the whole show in 2 1/2 months. I took it in every second I could, and am now recommending it to anyone who will believe me that this is the best show and has some of the best pay offs. Amazing work boys! I loved it so much!!
Hot diggety shit, that's one baller trailer!
Jeevesie1988 oh my god i get that reference now!
Jeevesie1988 thankyou for that
I'm living for Taako's low-cut shirt
about 4 years ago TAZ reignited my passion for art and set me down the path to become an animator.
Sith I think this is a trailer for an animated series for this.
P.B. Falkor nah the mcelroys described it as a trailer for the podcast itself, sort of an onramp for new listeners. an animated series would be dope though!
):
I guess it's up to us then
Well maybe I should listen to TAZ after all
Caitlin ._. I hope you ended up listening to it!
Alexis Lyle do. it.
*nods*
Did you?
How was it
Man after progressing so far into the series certain points in this trailer actually brought a tear to my eye and most of it makes me laugh hysterically every time I watch it. Man I’ve never been so invested into a DNDesque campaign before, the story is so beautifully orchestrated. You guys are an incredible family with literally the coolest dad ever. I can’t pay you guys enough compliments in one comment I’d be hear all day.
Duuuude, this is so fucking awesome!!! The colors, the desiiiiiigns, the animation itself!!! The way you formatted the trailer too, that balance of epic and silly that TAZ is so great for just. Ahhhhh!!! This is such a cool trailer!!! Really amazing job
I don't know if they will ever make a show out of The Balance arc, but if they ever do, I will throw so much money at it.
Netflix? is that you?
Drew Draws Things oH GOD I HOPE
You know if it was put on netflix I doupt it would be in the kids section.
But I guess that's obivious
If they made a Netflix show I would gouge out my eyes after watching because nothing else would be worth looking at
Please tho?
BIG SCREAM holy wow they absolutely killed it
amazing, get this on netflix!!!!
"Griffin mcelroy as LITERALLY EVERYBODY ELSE" lmfao
I love how Klarg's tail bounces when he walks
Ikr? It's so cute
Gosh this makes me want to re-listen to the whole series :')
I finished balance for the first time about 3 weeks ago in order to stack up steeplechase episodes and oh m God...how did I sleep on this for 7 years?!
This trailer just knocked my soul from my body and now I'm falling into the Astral Plane... it was worth it though
This is absolutely amazing but the most important thing is 1:12 MAGNUS PAINTS HIS NAILS JUST LIKE TRAVIS
I NOTICED THAT TOO! YES!!!
I LOVE IT!!!
in the well scene, you can see one hand is red and the other blue, like for the MBMBaM tv show!
I NOTICED IT TOO ITS GREAT
THANK YOU FOR POINTING THIS OUT FOR ME! VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT I NEEDED TO KNOW. There are so many little details in this that are fantastic!
this is like my third time rewatching this and i just noticed angus' design at 1:36 it could not be more perfect omg i love him....
Taako's hair changes color. That is perfect.
Fuuuuh. Taako's hat being a light construct. Brilliant.
i love these designs! ango at 1:36 is so cute!
Elaine Bonner THANK you for the timestamp hahaha I was like ‘ I WANT TO SEE MY LITTLE BOY’ and couldn’t find him at first watch
hes such a smol magic boi :0
WaalkR HERE HE COMES
just the fanciest boy
Lol I had to rewind like 3 times just to see it poor angus always getting the short end of the stick
This is freaking PHENOMENAL. Oh my goodness! It's so smooth and bright and wonderful and that Lucretia design is GORGEOUS.
this has so much rewatch value like i know what happens in the series, ive listened to the episodes, i’ve read character wikis but. still this fills me with a sense of EXCITEMENT that no series ever really has? so this is genuinely the best video on the internet
"Literally everyone else."
leeah galaxies except Garyl*
Hey guys! Don't forget about your friendly neighborhood HR rep, Brad Bradson!
WHEN I SAW JULIA AND MAGNUS I SCREAMED
...and cried...I did.
2:02 ive literally never played dnd or watched this series but-
damn that's sad
ItsYaBøí Clūtś Not to be that guy. But please do.
It's... it's sadder than you're imagining.
It's even sadder when you think of what happened afterwards...
2:07 they have taako after glamour springs and i want to die
And his assistant watches from the background
I always thought it was Sazed BECAUSE he was so pissed at Taako but now I'm just sad.
dammit this is so good every frame needs to be a fullsized poster
1:50 is fucking ACE. I would hang that on my wall in a heartbeat.
This is still by far one of my favorite pieces of animated media even like, half a decade later
Love the outside perspective animation for Refuge!
How many times will I watch this before I stop feeling so alive! This invokes such raw emotion from me!
I just finished my 4th time listening to Balance, and oh my god it gave me chills just how accurate every FRAME of this animation is to the descriptions Griffin gives of this stuff! Whoever made this is the John Schoenherr of The Adventure Zone!!
I just finished TAZ and I’m absolutely floored thanks
Lucretia’s pause when they ask if they can have a license to kill makes a lot of sense when you realize she’s having a flashback of them
