Thanks for watching, everyone!! Sorry I took so long to make this. One quick note, the footage at 3:48:45 is actually the Joypolis Sega Touring Car cab, though it is basically using the same tech as the life sized Sega Rally machine. The following image and video clip do in fact show the life sized Sega Rally machine. That dang Supra threw me off!! Also, there is a typo in the Ove Andersson text, misspelling his last name by only using one S. In the US, that surname is usually spelled with just one S, so my brain did not catch that when going over the video for fixes.
This video is a masterpiece. Each new video you release adds fuel to the flame that is my burning passion for all things SEGA, although the Saturn is an extremely niche topic, I hope your channel explodes in popularity. I mean it is absolutely fascinating learning about the behind the scenes of what was happening at SEGA during this time period. Thank you for making these incredible documentaries.

This video is insane. The amount of information, the editing, the visuals, it's all so perfect, fun and informative. The game can be beaten in less than a 5 minutes, but this documentary shows, how much work put into those kind of games. Just incredible!
Mr Panda your videos make me so happy. I’m nearing 40 and your work captures that period and Saturn vibe perfectly. You create a void in which I can bathe in the past.
Took my Saturn to the local arcade today, the owner is my age (late 30s) and loves Sega but never played Saturn. He loved it. Played a variety of games over the course of 4 hours, great time.
Am I going to watch a 4 hour 40 minutes video about a review and development history of Sega Rally Championship, released for Arcade and Sega Saturn, from year 1995, developed by Sega? *YES*
that was fantastic. i wasn’t sure about the need for a speedrun section going into it, but it quickly won me over. it is, after all, a racing game, and watching high level play of it is particularly satisfying. i think it’s got a lot to do with those drifty mechanics that make it look like somebody elegantly hydroplaning on ice
My favorite of yours so far. As someone who is a passionate old school WRC fan, Saturn fan, and most importantly a huge Pandamonium fan, I feel like you made this video just for me. What an absolute treat from front to back, thanks for going into such extreme detail and getting all these incredible interviews with people who were involved. This is a true accomplishment. Thank you so much for what you do, man!
You've done it again, man. I have no idea how you're able to maintain this level of quality and consistency but you're doing it flawlessly regardless. This was phenomenal. Incredible work.
One for the ages. Like many of us Sega fans of old, Sega Rally means the world to us, especially for us Saturn fans back in the day where we swore blind that this racing game handled better than anything out there. A PandaMonium classic full of real interviews, real journalism and crammed full of all the little details we hunger for with these types of games and reviews. Truly amazing. Thanks.

Hey man, I just wanted you to know that you're up there with some of my favorite youtubers on this platform. The amount of effort, dedication, and firsthand interviews with the devs in each of your videos is nothing short of astonishing! I especially loved the talks with Peter Molyneux. That, and subtitles. It's often underpraised, but it deserves it nonetheless. Can't wait to watch the Sega Rally vid proper!
Ok I already thought the music selections in this epic were top notch, but when Williams High Speed pinball kicked in just now near the end of stage 2, I couldn't believe my ears. A Panda of culture. Thank you for your work, this whole production is amazing!
Thank you for all the effort, research and incredible interviews you conducted for this excellent piece. I play through and enjoy Sega Rally several times a year and it was so enjoyable learning things about the game for the first time.
I am the only one looking online for a Sega Rally arcade cabinet after watching this? Amazing documentary. This is like a completist version of the lore of the game. I cannot imagine the time spent in preparation, documentation, editing, ... GG! or... Legendaryyyyy yeah!
this is an absolutely monumental work and i came back expecting it to have at least a million views by now! I can't describe how valuable and interesting all your documentaries are.
I can say without a doubt this is one of the best videos made about a video game. Its so uncanny, I felt like somebody reached into my brain and made a video just for me. I grew up a Sega kid, I still love Sega to this very day. Sega Rally is one of my favorite games on the Saturn and I would say probably one of my favorite games of all time and it influenced me in terms of coming to enjoy Rally in my own way and how I view racing games. I always like videos, documentaries, or looks into how a video game was made and the people that worked on them and you hit on that as well...the coolest thing you did I think, besides getting all of this Japanese footage and translations of interviews was being able to speak to Yoshio Fujimoto. Admittedly I hadn't actually heard of him until now, the story you managed to tell with his experience getting into Rallying, creating his company Tein and eventually conquering Kenya was very cool and you can tell he's a genuine down to earth guy which makes me like him even more. The whole arc you showed with him starting out, and then him restoring his car and driving, describing the experience and even returning to Kenya was actually moving on an emotional level. Beyond that, I think you successfully captured that intangible thing about Sega Rally that is hard to describe to people. Sega Rally isn't just a game, it is an experience. You rule, thank you for this video.
I'm just going to sit here and wait for two days. There's already so much anticipation for this one, but I feel like all it's going to do is make me more hyped for the Virtua Fighter 2 vid. I swear, I'm gonna be frothing at the mouth when that one drops.
This is an exceptional review/documentary that shows a phenomenal amount of the dedicated passion and commitment that has gone into covering every aspect of this classic Arcade/Saturn title. This is the type of work and journalism that is deserving far more praise for the amount of work and time that has gone into every chapter and breakdown of this game.
The first item I ever bought on eBay (back in 2000) was a Sega Saturn bundle, because after a term at university where I got good at my friend's Sega Rally I knew I had to get my own. It's just a perfectly tuned racing experience. Still untouchable IMO.
What a masterpiece of a documentary. On the edge of my seat for over 4 hours! Honestly a life changing video for me. I'm inspired in so many ways. Hats off to you panda and to everyone who made this video happen.
Super late to the party, thanks to a bunch of life stuff, but gotta say: worth the wait again! One of the things I really like about these expanded reviews is that it is dipping into the stories behind the actual people behind the games. These stories talk a lot about human nature and what it is to be in this world, which is always fascinating to learn more about, particularly as an autistic person where that stuff isn't intuitive. So Thanks Panda for the immense effort into these vids!

This was a fantastic video on Sega Rally. I loved everything about this video. I was engaged from beginning to the end. This was one of my first Sega Saturn pick ups back in 2014 during my very first semester of post secondary for $20 CAD as a recommendation from the game store clerk that day when I said I was looking for a game with a budget. I thought it looked really cool and slick with it's silver case and got that with 2 other Saturn games Die Hard Arcade and Gex bringing my Sega Saturn game collection to 4 games. So I had Night Warriors Darkstalkers Revenge, Gex, Sega Rally Championship and Die Hard Arcade. All night long I spent the evening switching between all 4 games. I remember telling all my friends about it that Monday in university and they thought I was a crazy 19 year old to be playing games on a console that released in 1995 while the PS4 was still in its infancy. To this day Sega Rally is still one of my favorites on the system. This documentary was an awesome love Letter to one of the best games of all time. While yes the Sega Saturn may have been a commercial failure this amazing wonderful console still captures my imagination and will always be in my heart. I have done several streams of me doing Sega Saturn games and if I ever get a request for Sega Rally I always get excited because I know its not just the best racing game on the system but one of the best of its generation. If anyone here is a saturn owner and still hasn't got this game in their collection they need to fix that ASAP.
Have slowly been watching over the past few days, and have been deeply enjoying this - thank you so much for all the hard work and passion. Not a big racing fan, but Sega Rally is a huge favorite of mine - and I always have time for Mizuguchi's mysticism. If Sega's ship hadn't sunk when it did, I think he could have become the biggest name in game development. The most minor note in the world, but at 3:59:12 I wonder if the crying face is some sort of joke. It notes clearly with the(泣)kanji that "V . V" is crying, but they also have a record listed for the Toaplan game "V・V" (V-Five).
I just finished watching all 4+ hours after multiple sittings and I wanted to say thank you for all the hard work you put into this. Truly excellent work. I have very fond memories of playing Sega Rally on my Saturn in my youth, and you inspired me to break out my system and ride again.
First off, love this vid. Honestly was waiting in my seat to see you review this game. But man was I gushing over the love for Turbo Racing! I kept on wondering why I kept on hearing the ost from the game but man it was worth it for the tangent. That game honestly slaps. 🔥
Honestly, while this entire video is great, the segments with Fujimoto and his life story rally racing is the most important part of this whole video. I'd submit this documentary into a film competition, no joke.
Your videos are incredible, I don't know how I hadn't come across them before. They absolutely blow the doors of any other video game retrospectives/documentaries I have ever seen!
Wow. Your historical documentary style reviews continue to blow me away. You really opened my eyes up to this game, as well as the sport of Rally Driving as well. I'll have to keep an eye out for a copy of this one in the second hand stores downtown!
Absolutely phenomenal documentary. Definite highlights for me were the interviews with Fujimoto. His passion for rally was so plain to see. Going to have to load a game up now and have a blast!
Such an amazing video. I have fond, nostalgic memories of Sega Rally Championship on the Saturn. Even though I grew up with the Playstation, I first saw the Saturn and I think this was the first 3D game I ever saw in real life - I have a forever memory of my cousin entering his name on the results screen with the rotating letter input. Thank you for this.
"what don't we know about Sega in the 90s? What don't we appreciate?" "Freedom, creative freedom" i feel like this statement is emblematic of why modern Sega just doesn't hit the same as they did back in the day. Sega was doing all kinds of crazy shit and now they kind of just play it safe with a Sonic and a Yakuza every once in a while. Kind of a shame but i guess that's what you gotta do when you can't just make whatever harebrained idea into a game on your own console
This was absolutely amazing work. The level of research and production values are through the roof. Seeing videos like this that go against the grain of quantity and low run times optimized for ads and algos gives me hope for TH-cam as a place with creators who still give a shit. Congrats on another incredible video!
I find it very humble that you call these multi hour high production value documentaries "reviews." Fantastic video, always super excited to see a new video in my watch list.
I can't praise you enough. Such a well made video. I literally cried over how good it was. As someone who had a Sega Saturn since around launch and still consider it my favorite console, I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Mate, I almost didnt watch this because I figured it'd just be another unnecessarily long and self-indulgent video essay, the likes of which we see far too often on TH-cam. But no, it was a wonderful doco covering not just the game, but the cultural context surrounding it. Be proud. Thanks for a great watch.
So much packed into this wonderful documentary! I love how you open and close the video with Mr. Fujimoto. Still young at heart. You really honour him and I hope he watches the full video. Thank-you again, I can't wait to watch this again!!
This is one of the greatest channels ever. This series is absolutely amazing, i truly hope you keep it going. It is a look back at at the golden age of gaming. It was such a great time to be a gamer. These videos are a great peek into that time and i love all the info you provide. Its also great hearing from people that were involved with gaming from the time. Please keep these videos coming.
Great video, thank you so much! This is the kind of love saturn deserves! I recall buying sega rally when it came out and simply not believing how great it was. Also the documentary is helping me go through a long awake night with my sick 1 year old twins that couldn't sleep until just now. Thanks for the brilliant, high quality, well researched, well edited labor of love!!
I'm not a massive Saturn fan, but love SEGA's arcade output. This is amazing content. This and the virtua cop video you've done are the most in depth content I've seen that era. There's so many people making retro game content, but almost all of it ignores the arcade which was so integral at the time
This was an amazing look at 90s sega & rally races/games. As a gamedev, I really fucking hope I never work on something that makes anyone want to deep dive into it like you did, but this is a wonderfully researched time capsule look at one of the moments in world history. Loved every minute of it.
Thanks for watching, everyone!! Sorry I took so long to make this.

I have done several streams of me doing Sega Saturn games and if I ever get a request for Sega Rally I always get excited because I know its not just the best racing game on the system but one of the best of its generation.
If anyone here is a saturn owner and still hasn't got this game in their collection they need to fix that ASAP.
Damn that restored Celica near the end of the video is so beautiful.
its amazing we waited since 1993 for the complete dev story !!!! I am humbled! great work AM3 & Panda!!!!
The implied Miz tripping balls in the desert on a vision quest would explain a LOT of his catalog
I still need to finish space tetris .
He felt the heartbeat of the land.
The whole video is incredible as always but the music choices on this one are truly top notch.
Bravo. Incredible work. the aesthetics, the research, the presentation....it's all so on point. An extremely enjoyable five hours.
I just finished watching all 4+ hours after multiple sittings and I wanted to say thank you for all the hard work you put into this. Truly excellent work. I have very fond memories of playing Sega Rally on my Saturn in my youth, and you inspired me to break out my system and ride again.
Mocha sent me here! Didn't expect the game to be so loved resulting in this amazing review. Honestly, it's hard to even call this a review.
First off, love this vid. Honestly was waiting in my seat to see you review this game. But man was I gushing over the love for Turbo Racing! I kept on wondering why I kept on hearing the ost from the game but man it was worth it for the tangent. That game honestly slaps. 🔥
It’s actually so good. Not enough people talk about it today, that was more than a typical licensed hot wheels game.
Honestly, while this entire video is great, the segments with Fujimoto and his life story rally racing is the most important part of this whole video. I'd submit this documentary into a film competition, no joke.
No joke it's an amazing auto racing documentary that happens to be about Sega rally.
Your videos are incredible, I don't know how I hadn't come across them before. They absolutely blow the doors of any other video game retrospectives/documentaries I have ever seen!
Shows you how tough game design is and the pressure on programmers. Respect
I seriously appreciate your work... I appreciate every single detail you put into your videos
Wow. Your historical documentary style reviews continue to blow me away. You really opened my eyes up to this game, as well as the sport of Rally Driving as well. I'll have to keep an eye out for a copy of this one in the second hand stores downtown!
God, once again you come back with peak. I was not expecting such a wonderful video, much less a personal story about one of the developers!
No one does these gaming Docos like the PandaMonium!
💯 out of 10!
Gat DAMN! A nearly 5 hour -review- documentary from the single best Saturn channel in human history? Sign me the fack up!
All I want to say is thank you for this! The games means a huge amount to so many people and you’ve encapsulated the spirit of the game in this video.
Sega Rally 1 and 2 are easily in my top 10 racing games ever. Also good to see another dedicated Saturn content creator. Sick video my friend
One of the best of TH-cam returns my friends. Rejoice and make merry.
To make it all the way to 4:36:49, AND THEN to hear a Hum sample - absolutely killer.
The year is 1995 once more watching this. Awesome job as always Panda.
This was absolutely amazing work. The level of research and production values are through the roof. Seeing videos like this that go against the grain of quantity and low run times optimized for ads and algos gives me hope for TH-cam as a place with creators who still give a shit. Congrats on another incredible video!
Been waiting for someone to give this game the analysis it deserves.
Thank you.
Took me four sittings to get through this, many congratulations on an absolute masterpiece! You have an incredible gift at these, keep it up!
When I see your updates I stop everything that I'm doing and click instantly. Thank you for this amazing content.
The amount of effort and content is beyond anything. I can't thank you enough for this.
This game takes me back to the epic times of 1995! I love the style of polygons that are used
So much packed into this wonderful documentary! I love how you open and close the video with Mr. Fujimoto. Still young at heart. You really honour him and I hope he watches the full video. Thank-you again, I can't wait to watch this again!!
Thank you for this opus Magnifique review you have created for the best arcade racer made of all time 🙏
This is one of the greatest channels ever.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the support!!
Congrats on your beating of UNK! I just experienced the joys of the sub 3:25:00 two nights ago, what a satisfying journey!
Documentaries about racing games are what I want, and this one is like the best I've seen so far. The technical details are fascinating.
