Btw if you use it intank block the bottom intake and it takes water in only through the overflow - works much better and skims the surface. Very beneficial in a small tank that easily gets the oily surface film. 👍
@@catboyy - I squeezed in a piece of 9mm pcv hose. Tunze sells an actual part for this purpose but it is quite difficult to find and most likely way overpriced and in all fairness should come with skimmer to begin with.
mine which was used seems to work well but I do see constant bubbles coming up from the outside the right lower edge of the skimmer. not sure if that is intended
This is a common issue people battle with in-tank skimmers and it occurs for many reasons: 1 - is there a Powerhead or another pump near it. This can cause issues. The instructions will tell you not to place powerheads or pumps near it. 2 - could be running skim too high. How fast is your cup filling? That could be an indicator. 3 - internal airline could be “loosely attached” and may need replaced. 4 - pump inside could be clogged and need cleaning. Few other reasons but those are the big ones to check.
I like the reef octo hob skimmers very quiet have have the 2000 and 1000 models running great. Never tried the in tank tunze does it take up alot of space in the tank?
It doesn’t take up much space. Reef octo is a great skimmer too. I like the in tank skimmer just as extra reassurance that if something goes wrong it doesn’t overflow to the ground.
It is working great. I love the Tunze brand. For a 50, it would be great and would do an excellent job. However, just for perspective. On my 56 gallon I put on the Tunze 9001. The 9001 is only rated for up to 40 gallons but it did great.
@@saltypops4276 thank you i was thinking about bubble magnus mini q but i dont want to undersize. Do you think the tunze will help with my 20ppm nitrates ?
@@Coral-reef.hello. A skimmer will help as they remove waste and organic nutrients. If you have skim (film) on the top of your water this guy will eliminate that as long as you keep the water level between the top grooves.

How did you block it??

@@saltypops4276 that's true too about overflowing
Hey how is it so far ? Is it too much for a water volume of 50 gallons ?

Really weird. When i rewind or forward the video i see video in the small screen but not when i watch normally. 😅
No video, just audio with plain black screen.
Interesting. I had a friend just play it in their iPhone with no issue. If this continues I’ll reupload. Thanks
Now it works normally. 👍
