Being part Japanese the Tokyo treat snacks are for the younger generation. The Bokksu is for older people, I'm 66 and I have a Bokksu subscription and have given my 89 your old Japanese mother a one year subscription for Bokksu. A lot of these treat boxes are age dependent, they are all really good. It really depends on your age. With Bokksu if you live in the USA shipping is free, so its not as expensive as you think.
Thank you for sharing your gift giving experience. Some of our other viewers have also mentioned they love buying Sakuraco as a gift for someone else too :)
While Tokyo Treat does seem to be cheaper the shipping costs also need to be taken into account. Bokksu offers free shipping for their subscription boxes, while the shipping costs for Tokyo Treat to UK (for instance) is around 12$ if I'm not mistaken. So wouldn't the total cost be kind of the same?
A lot of people think Bokksu offers free shipping but it's not for all countries. They charge between $9.99 - $22.99 for shipping to Australia, Canada, Germany, France, UAE etc. We wanted to keep our video relevant to everyone (outside UK and US) so we didn't include shipping fee in our comparison. For the UK market, even with shipping included, we like Tokyo Treat more because the treats are usually more filling and we can actually share it with our friends when they come over. But all in all we love both boxes and they both taste great! Just up to you on what you prefer - fun and filling or delicate and refined :)
I was originally really interested in TokyoTreat due to the price point but when I noticed the $12.50 shipping costbut Bokksu offered free shipping to my area and on top of that there's a promo-code out right now that gives me $15.00 off my first bokksu box so it seemed kinda like a no-brainer.
Hi June, from our experience not all of the snacks included in the box have ingredients stickers on them. Alot of the bigger sized snacks usually have ingredients printed on or stickers on them, but some smaller ones sometimes do not have any. You should also know that not all of the ingredient stickers are in English. Some are just in Japanese. We cannot say if the ingredient stickers we’ve seen are actually FDA stickers. Our recommendation is to check with Tokyo Treat and Bokksu directly if you’d like to get the accurate information on this. Hope this helps 😊
You can't seriously compare Bokksu's quality of snacks to Tokyo Treat. I mean the latter is basically Kit Kat level. Don't get me wrong, I love Kit Kat, but if you're paying for a subscription snack box, it doesn't get better than Bokksu. The only real argument against it is that it's more expensive although that price difference is completely reflected on the quality.
I have my 12th Bokksu coming in October. I love them but think they favor candy and sweets too much. I prefer savory snacks. I thought the >$500 yearly price was too high. I won’t be extending my subscription.
The guide only gives you a breakdown of the allergens and the nutrition isn't in English. But you can use Google translate on your phone to figure it out 😊 Most of the snacks from Tokyo Treat are in the original packaging so you can see the Japanese nutrition facts there but Bokksu repackages some of their snacks (the ones that they partner with local artisans) to highlight their branding so those might not have it.
thank you!! I'm also wondering if the boxes come with a plastic packaging bag or something to keep the boxes safe? I know is not refundable..@@honestfoodtalks
From our experience, Bokksu boxes are usually delivered with bubble wrap, giving them extra protection. Meanwhile, Tokyo Treat is usually delivered as is. There have been times where both boxes have some small dents and scratches, but it wasn't too bad. We've never complained about the condition of the boxes we got.@@aiueda-z4i
No soda I Tokyo treat In the one I got in January 2025. And it don't seam to be any one in February 2025.😢 Live in Sweden and was looking forward too the soda.
Bokksu is totally a scam. I lived in Japan for 5 years and wanted to bring a taste of Tokyo to my mom, so I ordered this. This company puts cheap & low-quality snacks in an orange box which cost $50.
this is a fantastic comparison and review video, and i love your commentary. your voice is so calming!!
Oh thank you! Glad we helped 😊

Thanks for watching! 😊
Thank you for making this video, I want to buy a box of snacks to eat them with my family
Hi, It is a nice review! I am just wondering if each sticker has an FDA sticker? I am worried about the ingredients and nutrition.

Tokyo Treat or Bokksu - which Japanese snack box are you going to buy? Let us know your reasons!

Bokksu's snacks definitely look and taste more premium! Though for more fun and filling snacks our favourite is still Tokyo treat 😊

Thanks for the input, we appreciate you sharing your experience 😊

Ok, I'll give it a try. thank you!
I'm looking forward to your next video:)@@honestfoodtalks
The shipping is not sealed. The box can be opened by anyone coming in contact with it. Clear plastic is the only outer wrap.

Ah hopefully they'll include some sort of canned drink next!

Ah we actually quite liked the snacks inside Bokksu although it is pricey 😅
Give me pocky! Pocky, pocky, pocky!!!!
