    Looking nice my friend as always!👌 I have been working during the last weeks on the 4 Mahalebs that we collected and they are coming along really nicely and they are among my favourite little trees in my collection! They are so forgiving and easy to maintain and they remind me every time of the great adventures I had with you guys! Keep up the good work and keep those video's coming! 👏👍
    Cheers,
    from Holland.

    In my yard I have a very tasty Prunus domestica x. Grows like nothing that I've seen before! Will try to air layer few branches and go for a journey with them!

    Two beautiful trees👍. Just out of interest what are the faults on "The old lady" she looked perfect to me?

    • @Torabonsaischool
      @Torabonsaischool  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, there are signs of my ignorance from early years, lack of techniques ... Signs of quick grow and straight lines, no tapering in some parts ... But nevertheless, this tree is something special for me!

    I do love Mahaleb. Thanks for this video. Am I right in understanding what you're saying: that you don't prune at midsummer (end of spring flush when leaves hardened off) and instead just leave Mahaleb to grow unchecked all spring and summer and prune in Autumn after leaf-drop?

    • @Torabonsaischool
      @Torabonsaischool  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that is right. But of course this technique is used just for already developed trees with good ramification. In first years after collection Mahaleb produce a long shoots, even a meter long, this shoots can be cut during the growing season ...

    Congratulations for the Old Lady. Both of your trees look amazing! Can I ask why are you brushing the trunk? and I always wondered if the green staff (moss & whatever) on the trunk and branches is good for the health of the tree? Thank you for your lesson

      That green staff is algae and does no harm to the tree. I am brushing it off just for aestetic reasons ... Tree looks more clean and neat after brushing. But some times I just left it on the bark, depents what effect i want to achieve. For sure i wouldn't let the algae grow on smooth bark on acers or on Fagus...

    The established deadwood on this tree is nice, so what do you do to help preserve this feature on the tree? Should this deadwood be cleaned?

    • @Torabonsaischool
      @Torabonsaischool  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use lime-sulfur together with black ink. And of course I clean the deadwood to keep it free from pests and fungus.
