If you can wait until falls, something great will happen : leaves will fall down ! You won't need tools but a broom to perform ...! The branches will be hardened, you won't loose anything (nor any buds). "defoliating" branches to be pruned is quite a strange way also...
@@benoitgrandjean1855 no its because if you dont light doesnt penetrate into the skin of the tree and it will become too light the you will have albino tree. Its similar to humans going to get tanned. You probably have albino trees if you have not been defoliating and now the butterflies dont like you
@@benoitgrandjean1855 it's actual beneficial to the tree. By trimming at end of season just before full leaf drop you set the tree up at the buds you want it to set out in spring. It's putting the tree with 1 step forward at start of spring. Instead of in spring waiting for it to bud out, become energy positive and then cut back. Get it? It is about efficiency and is much more effective.
