On a hot summers day in the UK there is nothing more refreshing than a cold pint of bitter shandy. You do take the local scenery for granted when you live there, we have the pleasure of reliving the beauty on our annual trips back home.
Holmfirth has a town hall but it's now called the Holmfirth Civic Hall. The town of birth on my passport is Holmfirth. I am very proud to have been one of the last babies to be born there before the hospital stopped having maternity services. As for the filming of Last of the Summer Wine, many of the locations were not actually filmed in Holmfirth or the surrounding villages, such as Aunty Wainwright's shop, which is in Marsden very close to the place where you ate at the beginning of the vlog. Marsden surgery was also the surgery from Where the Heat is. When going to attend an appointment while they were filming could be a little unsettling. The village shop from The League of Gentlemen was also constructed in the Marsden hillside overlooking the village.
Stalagtights are the ones that hang from the ceiling because they have to hold on tight. That's how I always remember it. You always find the best looking places to eat.
Hi guys, thought I’d say hello as you’ve made me smile visiting the home of Last of the Summer Wine - it’s reminded me of my dad, he loved that programme 😊 I’m pretty new to your channel and I’m loving this HUGE back catalogue of stuff to watch! I’m in 2021 as you can tell from the comment on this video but watching each new one too. You’re a lovely couple living an amazing life together - gives me all the feels!! 🥰 Take care both of you and thanks for keeping me company 😊
That's my neck of the woods, well Golcar. There's a tunnel that runs alongside standedge that I rode through when I was alot younger lol. Not something I condone now though ha.
Once again, it is enjoyable to see places in the UK that I might not otherwise know about when you make these trips hither and yon. It just shows that the fact you’ve never heard of a place doesn’t mean it’s not well worth your time to visit.
,Really loved this ! 😊 I think you are both going to be inspired by a canal holiday ! Love seeing Holmfirth and the beautiful scenery 😊. Your date night looked lovely, awww Leigh giving your hoodie to Nick ♥️ X
Every time I see one magpie I salute it and say good morning in my head I carnt remember when I started doing it either the hair is growing back nicely soon you will have a full head of hair to comb
Totally agree with Janine, Love a mooch and a bimble in charity shops with my mother Heather and Dad Tom and when I'm in North London visiting family love treasure hunting in charity shops with my sister Lynsey. Love Love your vlogs greetings from Londonderry in Northern Ireland.
Leigh, How can you visit Holmfirth and admit you have never watched an episode of Last of the Summer Wine, you MUST watch one. The place will take on a whole new meaning. Love to see Nick when he is "Giddy" you have a smile on your face which is priceless. I remember from school Stalactites come down from the ceiling and Stalagmites go up from the ground.
I always say hello to Mr Magpie if its on its own - its bad luck not to - one for sorrow and all that! Lovely video again but I cannot believe Leigh has not seem an episode of LOTSW, its a classic. Thankyou for continuing to bring us brilliant videos. 👍😊
