DIY Chiara Backdrop Cover (Easy way)

- When purchasing the material for the backdrop make sure you leave your self about 5 or 6 inches wider than your backdrop is wide. This will allow you to fold the backdrop edges and still wrap around the backdrop. The length you can always have them cut to the length you need but you can not add to the width. The first fold is about half an inch then iron. The second fold is about 2 inches or 1 inch and half then iron. This will give the grommet the room needed to fit. Make sure when sewing you keep this in mind when sewing the folded piece in. Also they do sell iron on adhesive that you do not need to sew that may work, I have never tried it and prefer the sewing method for strength. The round part may be a little difficult to sew, if you need you can cut little notches in the material to allow it to sit flat better before sewing. Hope this helps and if you have any questions please leave them down below. I am not that knowledgeable about sewing but maybe somebody in the comments can help if I can not give the best answer. Thank you.

A twin sheet always works well too, just tack it on with a brad stapler and it gets the job done!…good job!
Awesome, thanks for the tip!
This such a great idea. You can customize a job so easily and inexpensively. Thanks for sharing this idea.
Thank you very much!
I’ve purchased a few design plans from your Etsy shop and they’re fantastic. I put my own little twist on them to fit what my wife needed.
Mainly, the legs. I came up with a very efficient way of building the legs that provides not only weight, but allows the backdrop to not take up any space behind it (when standing multiple in an overlapping sequence).
Thank you for providing these great blueprints!
Thank you so much for the support! And sounds great that you were able to accommodate multiple backdrops next to each other. I have tried other things such as making the back supports in a 'V' shape so they don't protrude out next to each other. But still looking at options as well. Glad I was able to help!
What do you do differently from the leg design?
May I know how you redesigned the legs ? :o
I use a two-way stretch fabric which is ideal for the line issues - only thing, lettering is not adhesive. My staple gun is my magic tool for everything (love your guys channell!)
Thank you! And yes a staple gun does everything. I have just a hand powered staple gun. But I have been wanting to get the battery powered version just because of its usefulness. lol
Oh my awesome I was trying to figure this out for months. Keep the videos coming.
Thank you very much and good luck!
Thank you , very helpful
Love your channel and tutorials, you're amazing! If I may, I would suggest using elastic. You've already created an enclosure, the folded hem (ensure there's enough room for the elastic and a grommet) that you can run your elastic through. Use quality, no roll woven, elastic ensuring its not twisted within. Determine the necessary size piece of elastic just above the bottom edge and pull the elastic through. Add a safety pin to one end of the elastic, gather material onto safety pin and pull elastic through, repeat the gathering and pulling until you've reached the other end. Ensure you've attached the other end of the elastic to the bottom edge with a safety pin to prevent from pulling out. Tack the elastic in place by going back and forth with the sewing machine a few times. Add a grommet in the INSIDE edge of the enclosure (folded hem) on both sides. Attach the grommet to a hook in the board to prevent slipping. Also, download the Joann fabric app. They always have 40-50% off coupons and it would give you a wider selection of material. Thank you
Thanks for the tip!
You are amazing..Please film more of these DIY videos...Thank you Thank you !!!
Thank you very much, will do!!
this is sooo great... I'm gonna try add elastic instead of the eyelet things and see if that is a viable option. Thank you so much for taking the time to create this content. really appreciate you wanting to help others learn and grow too.
Hi, thank you so much for watching and commenting. I am interested to see if the elastic works. When ever you get a chance let us know how it went.
Just was l what I was looking for. Going to go watch the other video now.
Ok, I’m amazed. Seriously. I’ve been trying to figured out the easiest way to cover my round are and foam backdrops for FreakinEver!! And here you go with the simple brilliance.🥹 Thank you. Just Thank you.💪🏾💪🏾
Thank you very much, I am glad I was able to help! Good luck
Hi I’m your new subscriber !! ❤❤ love your work and I actually purchased your stencil for the foldable chiara and I loveee it!!! I see that you used grommets and at the time velcro was all I had so I used it instead and so far so good just for those looking for other options 😊
Awesome, thank you for the support! Hmmm I have never tried velcro, I know some people just use thumbtacks as well? Thank you for sharing the info as it gives more people options to work with. When I made it, my mind just went to grommets, but seeing other peoples view definitely opens up more options. Thank you!!
this was very helpful thank you
Your Welcome!
Thank you. ❤ your channel. You do awesome work.
Thank you very much, definitely a lot of work and I am glad you like our channel!
Love this idea👍🏼
Thank you and good luck!!
Very good idea.. love it
Thank you very much!
Dude you are the man!
Thank you!
Have you considered using flat sheets? They are already hemmed and even a twin has the width to meet your needs. Best is they also come in various patterns too!
Dang, never even thought about that. Great idea, Thanks for the tip!
Thank you , yes I’ll try that , my sis told me she knows someone who sews I was thinking too n double it n sew it all together if I get two color material like white n cream color n put it together but one b inside out so if I need white side ,the cream b sewed with shiny side in so it won’t get dirty n if I need cream shiny side for the front just reverse it the white shiny side b in back , I don’t know if I explain it right but if I get that chance I’ll do it I’ll send u a pic ,seen so many now I’ll try the easiest one for me cause I have no motion on my rt hand lost 4 bones wrist so I’m limited so I’ll see what can work for me , thank you for the plans n for ur time , just keep going I love it all
Wow that seems like a good Idea. Yeah I am not that great at sewing but that would be great to have it double sided. Thank you and good luck!
Thanks for sharing this im gonna make one
Awesome, thank you
Is this stretch fabric or woven fabric?
If I don’t mind not using it as a collapsible, and would prefer it just to stay upright all the time; can I use wood filler to get that line unnoticeable, so I’m able to keep painting it as i want. Thanks for your help.
Hi, the best option is to not cut it in the center if you are going to keep using it straight and not fold it. Makes the build so much easier. Just cut the shape and add the legs. Hope this helps and good luck!
Awesome!!
Thank you!
Hi! How do you attach signs when you are using a fabric cover
Does the material have some stretch? This is awesome!
Hi, yes some stretch. But not much as it is just basic material and just pulled tight in the back.
I custom paint ours every week depending on the customers colors unless is already a specific color from a prior weekend
Every week? That doesn’t do any damage to the board or does the color ever look off?
I wish I could, but I hate painting, lol. Painting definitely looks better, I just couldn't keep doing it.
@@ninojb9704 yes every week like last week I had them light pink, white and cream this week they're cream, white, light blue and light pink and you can't tell, the butterfly where purple 2 weeks ago last week yellow
I'm uploading a video later
I’ve had to use a tablecloth as a last resort. I saw a video showing someone using safety pins.
I placed safety pins to each side of the fabric on the back of the board (maybe three on each side) and tied a 260q balloon to each one. I then stretched the 260q to tie to the one on the opposite side ( making it stretch the fabric and hold tight) . It worked out great!
Spandex Tablecloth works better for me.
Awesome, thanks I'll have to try it!
But the vinyl cut out letters doesn’t really stick to the spandex material
In India available...?
For the marquee I used 1/2 inch sanded plywood from Lowe's
How this is the wood used for the backdrop?
