Thank you, I know these have been popping up everywhere. I have been getting a lot of requests to build a foldable backdrop and definitely like the portability.
New to your channel and have purchased at least 4 plans so far. I was looking for this foldable and can’t wait to get it Monday. Please do a video on the sleeve too. Thanks for showing us how to DIY these great looks for less !!!! Thanks
Thanks for sharing man and great video I’ll be buying your plans on Etsy. I had to make a foldable crescent moon and was having the hardest time trying to figure out how to make it stand by itself but now looking at your video you gave me an idea on how to make the foldable legs and keep it from folding on itself. Keep up the good work.
Hi, thank you so much for watching. I have created a more in-depth video on how I did it. Here is the link th-cam.com/video/1BqwxLyhc9g/w-d-xo.html But I have also seen some people just use thumbtacks in the back as well and get similar results. The main part is getting a fabric wide enough to cover the backdrop and have left over for the back. Hope this helps and good luck!
I know, I have received a lot of requests for more foldable designs. So I put this together as simple as I could. Thanks for commenting I am hoping to have the backdrop cover video coming out soon!

Thank you, here is the link th-cam.com/video/1BqwxLyhc9g/w-d-xo.html But you can also use a shorter option and just stretch and thumbtack it in the back as well. I have seen people use that, but I just prefer this one and its pretty easy. Good luck!
Great video! What is the thickness of the plywood - I’m having trouble finding a sheet that is straight and not bent. I assume the thicker the sheet, the straighter it is. Thank you
@@cesarpena-quevedo8033 Hi, most of my plans have the wood I used with images. But my most go to plywood is 1/2 inch sanded plywood from Lowe's. A little more expensive than standard 1/2 inch plywood from Home Depot but it does not have a lot of the blemishes you see in construction grade plywood and no visible knots or spots. But it is only for paintable props. If you need to stain I recommend Home Depot sanded plywood which is great but you see the wood knots, which look great with stain. But if you paint them they are a pain to cover up. You will need a shellac based stain blocking primer before you paint over wood knots. And that primer smells strong. So I rather just buy the Lowe's sanded plywood which is lightly primered already so its easier to paint. If you have any other questions please message the Etsy store as I answer there a lot more. TH-cam due to the high amount of comments I answer about every other day sometimes. Thank you and good luck!
Can I use wood filler paste and just keep it upright permenantly instead of letting it collapse? To cover up line rather than using colors. Then I can keep painting it the way I like to
Hi, the best option is to not cut it in the center if you are going to keep using it straight and not fold it. Makes the build so much easier. Just cut the shape and add the legs. Hope this helps and good luck!
I never comment on videos, so please make the other video!! I cant stand the visible line either and I love being able to make the colors interchangeable without painting. Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I am glad you found the video helpful. I will definitely try to get the video together about the sleeve, Yes it helps so much for colors!
I just bought the template but i don’t have a brad nailer. Can i just use a good old hammer and nail? I’m planning to get a jigsaw, just don’t have a budget for another tool. Thanks!
Hi, thank you for the support. You do not need a brad nailer but they do help. But yes you can screws or nails. But you must use wood glue and allow it to dry. Just take your time, use plenty of wood glue and message me on Etsy if you have any questions along the way. I answer there same day on there. TH-cam I check every couple of days. I hope this helps and good luck!
Hi again , I need a new jigsaw , mu battery died it’s more expensive getting just battery so I’ll get new one , I saw some in Home Depot can tell me which one u got that’s good to use for ur plans … thanks
Hi, for jigsaws. Most are good, but I switched to Ryobi jigsaw because it is not that expensive and definitely enough power to do what I do. I do not recommend the Milwaukee 12v jigsaw. To save power they did not add the small blower on it. So when I was cutting it was good cause it was small but the dust would just block my view of the line I had drawn. That's why I switched to the less expensive but good Ryobi jigsaw. But most will do the job, good luck!
You did a great job on this project 💪🏾 I know the video is sped up, but realistically how much time did it take to build this foldable backdrop including measuring and sawing all the pieces? Thanks in advance!
Hi, I am hoping to do one similar with the shelves soon. I am not sure if I can combine them and also have the fabric? I have been thinking about it for a while and we'll see what I can do? Thanks for watching!
Love your videos! I’m wondering what tool / how you make the custom signs for the chiaras or arches, and how you’re able to change them out for every event without damaging them.
Hi, signs are best made with a scroll saw and are pretty easy. They just take time to make sure you stay in the line. I have a couple of videos on here covering the topic of making the signs and hanging them. To hang them I use fishing string most of the time as it is strong and clear. Easy to change out and you cant see it. Thank for watching!
Hi, I have not made it out of MDF for this build. I like plywood because it is lighter and stronger for the hinge section. It may work, I would just be worried about the hinge section over time? Good luck!
What kind of nail gun do you own and recommend for all these projects. We are making some arch walls and we purchased your marquee templates but haven’t started that project yet. We love your videos.
Hi, I use the ryobi brad nail gun, 18 gauge. Its been great, battery powered and have had it for years. Great quality for a great price. Thank you for the support and good luck with your build!
Hi, thanks for watching. To start I use only a couple of tools to build most of our projects. Circular saw, jigsaw, drill, measuring tape, small clamps and a straight edge or 4ft level to use to create straight lines. You do not need them all and it depends on what you are building. Starting off with a couple of things and slowly start building up as you become more confident with your tools. Good luck

Hello. What is the length from the end of the wood piece to where the pencil was placed? Looks like 1” but I want to make sure. Also how far out does the piece of wood (where u placed the pencil) need to be while tracing? I see that it sticks out a little as you trace. *I bought your plan but I didn’t see that on there btw thats why I ask 😊
Hi, yes about 1 inch. But that isnt so important. The measurement between the pencil and the hole where the screw pivots is what will create the right size arch. So depending on how wide you want your backdrop it will change. So if you want a 3ft wide backdrop. Then the gap between the pencil and screw will need to be 18 inches. So when it is making a circle it will be 3ft. The backdrop I made was 42 inches wide so the gap was 21 inches between the pencil and pivoting screw. I also try to line it up with one of the sides, so I do not have to cut that side going down. I hope that helps and if you have any questions please let me know on the Etsy store as I answer those more quickly. I check TH-cam not as much. Thank you for the support!
Hi, mostly just sanded basic pine. It is inexpensive and at Lowe's theirs has a light white primer already painted on, making it easier to paint. And usually from Lowe's there are less visible wood knots showing. If I am going to stain instead of paint I just get the sanded pine plywood from Home Depot as it is not primered white.

Okay, so do you always use a cover ? I feel like my line where the board folds is more pronounced than yours and I paint mine a lot of times or use peel and stick wall paper and that line kills me
Hi, have you thought about making the backdrop not foldable. I have built different types, some foldable, some not. The foldable option is more for those who have no other way of transporting larger items. Its kind of a trade off of ease of transport but you have to cut that line straight and have the hinges aligned right, to minimize the line. Or just have the full size backdrop and not have to deal with the line at all. And no I did not use the cover all the time, paint or vinyl does well. But also I have other backdrops and depends on the situation. Good luck

The one in the video is 6ft tall so I could show that it will fit in a car trunk. But you can make yours as big as you want just by cutting the board at the bottom longer. Thanks for watching!
