  • Hey guys!
So throwing STRAIGHT is important. As a disc golf beginner I´ve started to notice that. Apperantly there´s a thing called "trees" on courses. In this video Tomas Ekström goes through the basics of throwing straight!
Hope you´ll enjoy the video. And do let me know if you have any pointers or ideas for future videos. We are all here to learn 🤘😀 /Jonathan

@@bmhcrazyguy1 OP is a 2 year old comment lol, but yeah agreed. I just started, spent 40 minutes today looking for a couple discs. by the time I found them both I was ready to call it for the day. no more throwing in the woods. Just practiced puts and threw a couple in the field and went home.
Always gotta buy neon colors lol. A tip : If you're not seeing it, you probably didn't throw it that far. lol
That was the moral of the story today, I spent so much time looking for the disc WAY further than i actually threw it. It usually comes back when it chops to the side too.

I was Turing my head to look after pulling back. Now I look back and as I pull through I follow the disc in my hand with my eyes and trust my initial line up before I begin the throw. The disc is making the pop noise every time it leaves my hand now.

I’m pretty new to the sport, only been throwing for maybe just under 4 months. I am an older guy, 56, and have micro tears and slight bone spurs in both shoulders….but I refuse to give up on trying to be the best player I can be.

Hello you two. I came in contact with disc golf a couple of years ago while I was living in the UK. I enjoyed it but was pretty bad at it since no one really showed me the ropes. After 4 years, I bought myself a few discs again and today I practiced a bit on a huge field. First few throws were awful but with every try the discs began to fly more and more straight even though it was pretty windy. I still can't get much distance but I am already happy to be able to get the disc to go in the direction I want it to go. So a HUGE THANK YOU for this fantastic video!

what I would also add to this excellent video is - don't throw it like a frisbee. I was doing that and I was getting results as if my disc was constantly over stable. Pretty much ANY disc I tried was like that (except of course a wham-o frisbee) I was having fun games with people with my frisbee and they were using golf Discs and I was doing pretty darn good with the frisbee.. on par with some more experienced disc golfers.. so that's what got me into investing 'legit' Golf Discs.. The guys I was playing with were actually very surprised at what I was doing with the normal Toy frisbee. LOL - it's a different mind set to the game, surely some will understand what I mean. ... To explain how I was throwing ... I mean doing the coil of the disc into your arm pit. I was getting good power and distance at times with the Golf Disc.. ..but faded huge. I was scratching my head like..this does not correlate to the numbers on this. Then I found out I wasn't extending my arm - and that was a game changer. sitting here.. I can't remember if I look forward while I throw... I'll keep that in mind next time. Excellent series of videos. Thanks from Southern Ontario Canada.

Pay attention to the guys in the video , because this is what I have learned: Hyzer, anhyzer, 400 foot drives, 60 foot putts, all very nice. But if you throw straight and flat, and that is all you can do, you will win more often than you will lose. If you doubt this, play against a guy throwing baseballs instead of disks. Try it. It is... As an outfielder the crow hop helped with distance throws with the left foot forward. I am new and because of baseball I am so use to loading with my left foot. Great helpful video guys, hopefully I can figure out what i’m doing wrong on my backhand and fix it. I’m liking the Fuse, Fury, and Underworld for throwing straight backhand shots down the fairways!

nice and clear. May I suggest a 2nd angle from behind (and maybe from above) so it's even more clear when you demonstrate straight line vs rounding. Kind Regards, someone who rounds, griplocks and pulls the disc downwards like I've never thrown discs before :)

@@Latitude64 ah ok. Maybe just a simple illustration. Even a quick PiP overlay shot in 1080 would have been fine. And the motions could have been shot from behind afterwards simplifed. Lots of workarounds to only having one camera :)

@@Latitude64 Thanks for all the videos guys. We have an 18 hole disc golf course in our small town, nothing too crazy, but it's a challenge for us beginners (got +26 last game😬). Just have to dial in the technique a lot more, not be afraid to take chances here and there, and try something new every so often.

Great tips. Any advice for me. I’m standstill and can’t follow through because of a bad right knee. I guess I can only use my shoulders, arm, and wrist for power with some movement from from my back foot to front.

what do you have to say about mcbeth, he throw very high up, and i think it generate more power to do this, the rotation change the elbow joint position then if you throw lower, talking about what level you should throw the disc.... that is my cup of tea...
