    A close-up view of the installation of ONE pushrod tube, and a close-up view of checking ONE valve lash would be helpful. Watching you install twelve pushrods in fast motion from across the room is less than worthless.

    What kind of paint do you use on the crankcase? I'm overhauling an o-470 right now and debating whether or not to paint the case. I used the Continental Gold engine spray paint for the intake tubes and sump so it would have to match but I really like the alodine look of the case. Thanks for the video!

    Which tool do you guys use for the push rod spring compressor and retainers? Part numbers? Thanks!

      It’s ez turn lubricant. We purchase from Aviall (boeing). Aircraft Spruce or another aviation store maybe have some available. If you don’t find any let me know and I’ll get you some 👍🏻

    Without pushrods in it just because the fixin's up does not mean you're on a compression stroke so if you settle Ash and you're not truly on compression stroke just to fixing up will it make a difference or not just have to be with the best in all the way up

    Awesome channel! I have an O-300-A3B from my 58 c172 that I'm trying to do a budget, service-limit OH on. Do you guys sell used, internal O-300 parts?

    I have a question about starting this engine when installed with a pressure Carburetor, it seems to be very difficult to start especially in cold weather. Any tips?

      Check your ignition system. Is your wobble/electric pump delivering proper pressure before the start. Throttle cracked, mixture rich, start wobbling and start cranking. Should fire right up.

    Do you have a still photo of the crankcase just before putting on the oil pan? Curious if the oil pan gasket could be replaced while installed in the C182p, how far the sump pick up is located , would the pan clear aft with the carb and induction tubes off.

    So the trick lays on the push rod length,very clever ,,on Subaru engines we swap the shims inside the solid lifter (resembles a Coin)
    Great video Pal thx for share,I know its tougher in Alaska

    If you are just replacing pushrod tube seals does valve lash need to be reset because you have to remove the pushrod and rocker arm? Just curious. My shop is doing this on my 520.

    • @akcylinders
      @akcylinders  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question! No need to recheck the valve lash if all you are replacing is the seals. However you would need to be sure that the pushrods go back in the same spot (exhaust vs intake). Also on a lot of 470/520 engines you can’t slide the rocker shaft back in without deflating the hydraulic lifter.

    good video!! do you have the part number for the half moon bushings in the leg support? i think this for pieces has to take the bolts to hold into the engine mount!!! i have the engine mounts and bolts but missing now the inserts .. thanks

      Look in the parts manual for your airframe. The mount is an airframe part.

    Question for you.... with a deflated lifter... it can be pushed in probably an 1/8" - 3/16", which is probably the spring in the follower. When measuring for proper valve lash, is the pushrod to be pushed in to take up the measurements, mentioned above, before measuring the for lash tolerance? Or, should the pushrod be naturally resting in the tappet seat without taking up the above space, and then measure for lash tolerance?
    Ty,
    Chad

    • @jasons757
      @jasons757 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pushed in. Its a bottomed out lash. Thats why the lifter must be deflated (without oil inside)
