- In this video, we return to the ocean and discuss/examine several mysterious unidentified corpses of strange sea monster-like creatures (called Globsters) and try to identify them to see if they belonged to undiscovered animals or are merely known animals that have been mistaken. Hope you enjoy and learn something new in this new installment of cryptid profile! Sorry if this video is a little graphic.

The original marine biologist who posted the unidentified one has agreed that it is a female blanket octopus, that was attempting to mimic the look of the bottlenose dolphins in the area. Which to me is just so incredibly cool. The thread on the forum was active until 2019 (started in 2007)- so it certainly was a head scratcher!
Thanks for sharing this info. Idk why, but I kept thinking that it was a Sunfish with a deformity or something like that. The unanswered globster reminds me of a cuttlefish, just a lil bit
Same, I figure it's an octopus imitating the dolphins they say are in the area.
That was my first thought
I think it could be like a deformed octopus or some other genetic anomaly. Starfish can be square remember
JellyfishSiara It could be the descarded blanket of a dead blanket octopus.
A thicc cuttlefish
Floating thing looks like an octopus imitating dolphins. It's tentacles are the striped things, coiled near it's body, and it's head is elongated to resemble a dolphin nose. Wouldn't be the weirdest thing we've seen octopi do.
"IT'S" means IT IS. "ITS" is what you meant to use. ITS tentacles.... ITS body.... When you put the apostrophe in, the word becomes a contraction of IT IS.
Unknown, it’s the tentacles belonging to it. Possessive, “it’s” it has, possessive. Sharon’s, belonging to Sharon. It’s, the tentacles belonging to it. Don’t school me in my English; I know what I’m talking about, go sit your ass down.
@@danielled8665 No, you don't know. Does HIS get an apostrophe? No. Does HERS get an apostrophe? NO. Does THEIRS get an apostrophe? NO. Does OURS get an apostrophe? NO. And ITS doesn't get an apostrophe, either! "Sharon" gets an apostrophe because "Sharon" is a noun, and NOUNS show possession by the addition of an apostrophe. But NONE of the possessive PRONOUNS get apostrophes. So you sit YOUR ass down and take your schooling like the ignorant fool that you are!
@@KMW929 Unknown was right though.
@@KMW929 I noticed that you wrote: "...it's your life after all," with the apostrophe included. This is correct. So you obviously know then, that "it's" DOES mean "it is." So you agree with me that this is a contraction of "it is," and is not a possessive pronoun after all. Well done! So here's an idea: Instead of making a fool of yourself arguing with me, look it up. Further ignorance and stupidity directed towards me by either you or Danielle will not engender any response from me. Have some guts. Look it up. I'm done with you.
The floating blob thing could've been a deepsea creature undergone rapid decompression like the blob fish
@Minecart Good Fortnite Bad XD Lol just stop with the AMOGUS for the love of god
It's most likely a Tremoctopus, AKA a Blanket Octopus, probably a mutated one or a different species. If you compare it to photos of the Tremoctopus, it has features that are almost identical to it.
I don't think that this is the case here, the creature seams do have a white belly whit dark top, or at least posessing coloration patterns. Sugessting that it lives in depth where light can be still seen. My best guess is, that it is some kind of deformed cuttlefish

The beluga carcass makes me wonder about all the fossils we have from prehistory. How many of them have melons, humps, lumps, & other skin/muscle/fat distributions that might not be easily detected in bones alone. It's fun to imagine how odd certain animals might look in person compared to what we know! I'm also hyped to find out what that gelatinous creature the scientists saw is. The ocean is one of the biggest frontiers we have for newly discovered species left on earth, so it always makes me excited to see what's out there. Glad to see you back!
Yeah thats a great point, its always fascinating to think of what is missing once an animal decays and all that is left is bone. Prehistoric animals may look entirely different than what the bones alone show and much of paleontology has evolved over the years because of this.

Just something to put out there. It took about 40 years for people to identify an unknown skull of a whale, now known as a narluga, a Narwhal/Beluga hybrid whale, that was killed by a native hunter long before and whos skull now rested in a museum until one biologist stumbled across it in said museum and was so curious he tracked down its origins. The narwhal still hold many mysteries, and it was never known that they could hybridize with its only cousin in the animal kingdom, the beluga.
My point is, nature is weird, and hybrids happen, that we cannot explain until extensive research, especially on species that are hard to study and still, to this day in 2019, a mystery such as the narwhal. We know next to nothing about this creature and how it is, and are continuously discovering new things because of how hard they are to study.
Never discount hybrid creatures.

I'm actually pretty convinced that unanswered globster is a Common Blanket Octopus female that has retracted its blankets and is possibly imitating the shape of a dolphin. The common blanket octopus has these 2 spots on the back as shown in one of the pictures and the striped base and unlike most octopi, the majority of their arms are very small with the exception of two pairs which create the long blanket structures and can be curled up tightly under the body
That's pretty convincing, maybe you should bring that possibility up to the doctor who posted it on Tonmo!

Is it weird that the unknown scientist one reminds me of a nautilus? Like it looks like the shell and then either something on top of it or it's having trouble holding its shape like a blobfish because of the lack of pressure--can that happen to nautilus? I don't know
Like a nautilus that lost its tentacles or something. The colour, the pattern, and some of the contours on its body definitely put me in mind of one anyhow
I mean, it's probably some kind of cephalopod, so like that's not a bad guess.
th-cam.com/video/ivIPZfMjr9A/w-d-xo.html Blanket octopus!
Yeah, I was definitely thinking the same thing!
@@bugjams yes, the two white dots and purple color match perfectly as well as the two coiled up tentacles you can see, and the "trunk" is probably the siphon, and the blanket octopus is one of the only octopuses that floats on top of the ocean instead of staying on the bottom
How about a cuttlefish or octopus using it's camouflage to mimic the dolphins in the area?
Timothy Cruz agreed
That was my guess as well. At 10:30 the center photo makes it more clear. You can see it's eyes, then on the sides, you see the openings that octopuses have on their head. The tentacles are likely tucked under itself and the top of the tentacles on color changing octopuses can have stripes on them when they change colors. This looks like an octopus that is making itself look like a dolphins head.
The fact that dolphins were the area further supports this as cephalopod mimicry includes aping the shape and behavior of various species.
Hey your right it may be a mimic octopus
No tentacles though...
The last one has me stumped! Could there be any possibility of some deep sea organism that got deformed due to decompression damage, like the blob fish?
I've wondered if it was a deep sea organism that somehow accidently reached the surface. I think that's actually a likely case.
the fact that its hanging out on the surface and not dying rules out it being any deep sea creature
@@duskpede5146 Dumb question I know, but is it possible for a deep sea creature to somehow accidently reach the surface? That could be what happened, but you're probably right to be honest.
@@bestrafung2754 btw i am not a marine biologist but the pressure differences and salinity differences betweeen deep deep sea and the surface would kill anything moving between them.
as for if its possible to even make it up there... maybe?? i don't know but if it was adept enough it could probably swim if it ignored all the dying that was happening to it.
Look up Common blanket octopus on Wikipedia. The very first image looks almost exactly like our mysterious animal. The coloured stripes, the crease in the middle, the holes at the top, the overall shape... In this picture, the tentacles don't meet, but there are photos in which they do. Also, blanket octopuses with that colouration are known to live in this region (one washed up on the shore 2 weeks later). If you actually read through the linked thread, the majority agrees that it's a tremoctopus.

Regarding the unidentified "blob," as I don't see any followup here, the blob has been generally identified as a blanket octopus. Comparisons show a striking resemblance. It's also entirely possible that the octopus was attempting to mimic the nearby pod of dolphins, thus explaining the bizarre, dolphin-like appearance. Steve O'Shea agreed with the conclusion of Tremoctopus violaceus as the species.
The floating blob seems to have vents like a squid or octopus.

It's Russia, it IS very hard to tell.
I like how whenever an SCP reader or containment breach player sees an scp, they immediately type which and what scps is there. Make a single reference and half (less or more, depends) your comment section will be full of them
F.A.R oficial this is referincing scp-069
i absolutely love your channel, i have a big personal interest in paleontology/anthropology/evolutionary theory and you really do a good job of showing all the interesting little details in complete explanations, with the amount of channels and podcasts on these subjects i listen to i usually expect to hear a lot of the same, simple shit and it’s refreshing how deeply you delve into all your topics, keep doing what you’re doing
finally the best paleo related youtube channel is back!. you should've done a vlog about that trip of yours trey
Thanks man! I should have, I took so video, but I still want my identity to be relatively anonymous... for now
The Georgia Globster was a prank made by Zardulu, an NY performance artist, he confessed to it. And you were right, it was made from paper-mache.
Never been this early to Trey's video.
Same
Real nigga hours
I can’t wait for the alien/humanoid remains video, I personally find unidentifiable remains interesting.
I wonder if it's going to be the infamous 'starchild' skull that allegedly contained "structural tubes making up the bones not found in any known animal" or whatever.... That one's been incredibly mysterious to me for a while and it'd be great to get an explanation for it.
Me too, I really kind of like this series
My first guess for the first one was “a toothed whale, maybe an orca”
Sea creature: *washes up on shore*
The internet: is this an SCP?
Lol they just used the image for the wiki I don’t think they actually thought it was an immortal reptile
I'm pleasantly surprised that he actually found one that's unexplained. It's nice to know there's still some mystery left in the world.
Im a simple individual
I see trey. I click
Not overused at all
I am a simple individual.
I see comments like this, and a click "dislike"

"I was *unfortunately* traveling across the US"

Even Matt cannot overpower the sheer comedy of big, fat dolphin

*Some original comment about how you dont upload often and im happy that you uploaded*
382 is a beluga... God, dinosaurs must have looked SO WEIRD!
The second one looks to be a sun fish when sun fish come to the surface they turn side ways some times my local sea life centre had one which kept one but it kept on turning side ways every time it came to the surface of the water in the tank.
the second one is a Tremoctopus violaceus👍
Sun fish are huge compared to this
It’s a blanket octopus
russia: "we found this thing on a beach"
SCP writers: HIPPITY HOPPITY IT'S NOW OUR PROPERTY
The unknown creature looks like an octopus. At 10:30 the center photo makes it more clear. You can see it's eyes, then on the sides, you see the openings that octopuses have on their head. The legs are likely tucked under itself and the top of color changing octopuses can have stripes on them when they change colors. This looks like an octopus that is making itself look like a dolphins head as a form of camouflage.
And I suppose it just ate its own legs for effect?
The first one looks like a cow tongue. Just saying...
Scp 682 homies where u at?
Night PhoeNick's Productions In it's stomach
What’s up Foundation
I can't believe 682 was a basking shark all along.
Matteus Silvestre We were so blind...
Night PhoeNick's Productions shhh don't summon doctor bright
So that means that scp-682 isn’t a “Hard to kill reptile” but a “Washed up whale corpse”
Alrighty then
Washed up whale corpse sounds like an actual SCP tbh
@@hansenkreuz8890 ehh give it a couple years. Someone will create it
@@logansmith2703 I mean, there's an SCP hat is the Corpse of Whale orbiting Earth and occasionally transmitting Radio-Stories for Children. (wich always revolve arond a Space Whale)
So technically, it already was created.
Hansen Kreuz you do not recognize the whales in the water.
So that’s what happened when bright got 05 approval for a chainsaw cannon
This series has been super informative. Thank you for sharing!
Please give me more globster videos, I really love them.
Maybe you could go more in depth about some ones in the speed round.
it's skirt kind of looks like a Cuttlefish, and the general shape seem similar too, but the similarities end there, i definitely think it's some sort of cephalopod though, i'm probably wrong lmao
Whale? Thats what the foundation wants you think.
It was actually a basking owl.
GET THE AMENSETICS! AND RECONTAIN THE DAMAGED 682!

Ngl, that Diplocaulus model is so cool
