This was one of my first boats that I traded a weed wacker for. It was super rough then and it's even rougher now! I used junk metal, junk seats, and a junk engine to get this thing back on the water. This boat gave us a ton of issues and we ended up finding/buying two more engines to get it running. We finally got it "seaworthy" and took it out. It was just like old times!

You should put the engine you had on your Alumacraft boat when you were a kid back on the boat if you still have it
I hope you're filming the rebuild of the desperado. If you would like to see those videos hit that like button.
Luke I am sure no one minds that you are gonna only upload every other week. You are a full time crabber and that takes WAY more time and energy than people realize. Not to mention you are also a husband and that amazing wife of yours deserves your attention! I look forward to the next upload!
Thank you for understanding!
@@fvsoutherngirlwe gotcha bro ! You ain't no crabber if your not all jammed up 👍
I absolutely love your channel. I wish you put out a video every day. 😂 Tiny ( Len Price ) Houston MS
I absolutely love your channel. I wish you put out a video every day. 😂 Tiny ( Len Price ) Houston MS
I agree with the comment but I think it goes without saying dude.
Luke I'm sure your stringers on the desperado are mush. Make sure you block the hull really good so when you cut the stringers you don't lose the shape of the hull. You can easily twist the hull if not blocked correctly when you cutout the stringers.
Golden advice everyone like keep this up top
From a small engine mechanic, be careful starting a motor with the drill from the flywheel nut. If she cranks, if it's not at idle it'll outrun the drill. And you gotta continue giving the drill full beans once it starts until after you've cleared the socket from the flywheel nut regardless of if it starts or not. If you don't, you can knock the flywheel nut loose. I've done it several times. Did it one time on the water. Motor started and ran fine for 5 minutes before the nut completely backed off. Motor wasn't running right so i had the cowl off. Nut flew into the water and the flywheel jumped off the crank like a beyblade from hell, tore my arm up pretty good. Thankfully the flywheel stayed in the boat, but we had to paddle back to the dock. Ruined a fishing trip
Dude that actually happened to us and I diddnt catch it on video. The flywheel flew off and the key bent.
If there's zero danger involved....what's the point?
The wheel bearing seal goes on the back side! Omg lol
Yup lmao
I liked you showing Riley and working with him that was cool, he seems like a nice guy. We will always watch, do what you need to do.
It's good to hear you are easing up on making content so you can get the projects you have going on completed before winter shuts you down. Can't wait to see the Desperado complete and back on the water and ready to go crabbin'. This video reminds me of my first boat I built while going to college and working at the lake resort I lived in and worked at. It was great living full time in my rv and working there while working on my aviation dual major with a minor in IT. There were old boats all around there, plus two boat shops that could get me parts easily. The internet wasn't even created yet. Only intranet at the college and a few business'. This was even pre-Windows 3.1. However, through scavenging parts from several boats and engines, I was able to come up with a reliable 20 year old 19' 45:15 boat with a 100hp outboard that we could ski with as well as go fishing out of on Lake Texoma on the Oklahoma Texas border. It took all of spring and half the summer of 1990 to get it on the water in her best shape. My boat and motor were way bigger, but the effort that went into her was the same as your Monkey Wards 12' Jonathan boat. Great video, and I'm always looking forward to your next one. I love that you are always positive and have a can do won't give up attitude. ❤❤❤
Title- Luke builds a boat from junk. What I see- Luke builds a boat from a boat. 😂
If you can't make a boat a boat, you ain't no crabber.
He's a very lucky man. His generation are 🤡
Its all about the title and thumbnail baby
If Luke has taught us anything on this channel, it is that "boat" and "junk" are not mutually exclusive terms and he's about as good as there is at getting either one to plane out...😂
Twice a month, once a month. I'll watch regardless how often you post. I'm 29 enjoy time with you wife while the seasons out. You deserve it and have earned it
lmao _"NATURES CARPET"_ My favorite.. They should make toilet seat covers with that stuff... Oh then again you could just call it *"Natures Toilet cushioned Seat"* !
Just keep em coming! We will wait and watch!
Just realized Luke is a natural in front the camera. 😎😎😂😂 Can't wait to see you get to take the Maiden Voyage on the Desperado after everything that's happen I know it'll be a good moment for ya. Blessing to you and yours bro.
Can we see your alumacraft boat soon?
You can superglue the ends of O-rings together to make the size you need
Thank you for the video.Have you heard anymore about the people who trashed your new boat.
Not to much yet!
I hope they catch them soon. You don’t deserve that and good luck getting it ready for next season.
Rare to find a aluminum boat used in saltwater since 1962 with no holes or swiss cheese look.
Absolutely loved this video, and 1000% understand having to decrease your release cadence to increase quality, best of luck with everything and we're all looking forward to the next video!
Bro in law had a 1957 9.9 Chrysler. We ran the crap outta that thing in the river and while duck hunting. We affectionately called it "The Chizzler." Great vid man, and good luck with the upcoming tear-down and re-build of the Desperado.
Yes . Sounds good .. I look forward to every other week
If you aren’t building boats from junk to explore for more junk boats, you ain’t no crabber.
Luke that is 100% a Chrysler/ us marine made outboard. Growing up I had a 7.5 Chrysler on a 12’ porta boat that came from the trash pile. Many memories from watching you fix the same problems I remember
I am willing to wait for the extra quality videos, this one was great!
Hey, you do what you gotta do. It stresses me out thinking about all the stuff you have on your plate so not doing as many videos makes a lot of sense. I love genuine and relatable content so you are my kind of guy. Keep it up!
I appreciate that!
Luke McFadde3n using the original impact wrench, priceless! It's got an airboat steering system, it's going to fly.
Your wife's face
, when you said "I told you Lindsey I'd get you a boat" was the best facial reaction of BS/what the hell. Was the best ever. And her saying "how many are there" boats you own, best ever I LMAO😂😂😂😂😅😊
Trust me Luke, I know about the video every week thing. It get daunting after awhile. I've been considering dropping to 1 every 2 weeks myself. Nice little project there. I had a 12ft Wards Jon boat (flat bottom) and then moved to a 14ft Starcraft (V bottom). Those were shared between me and my brothers. The first boat I owned was a 19ft Galaxy. Last boat was a 26ft Wellcraft Aft Cabin. I've been out of boating since 2015. I miss it.
This is awesome! I’ve talked about doing stick steering for a while but never committed
Do what you have to do Luke. I know I'll be here to watch and support you.
I don't know why but you had me laughing my ass of when that seat was breaking. I love good time shenanigans and that was mint.😂😂❤
Thanks for watching!
@@fvsoutherngirl If I lived down there Luke I'd come and help you on the boat for free.
Luke. I am definitely impressed that you have the boat working.
Fast Pro. Good one. I don't know how you manage to find the time to get as much done as you do. I look forward to your videos.
how about to put a camera somewhere on a stick when you are working on the desperado. Just turn it on, live on youtube. no editting, just video. no audio or you have to watch out what you say.😁
I had a 15hp Chrysler Sea King that I bought new in 1983. It was one of the most dependable motors that I have ever owned. I used it for about 10 years and the only thing that I did to it was change sparkplugs.
I was bummed to see the Desperado torn up. I would have loved to have seen the work of taking the boat apart. The boat rebuild should be documented step-by-step. It would provide great content!
That has got to be the coolest boat of all time. You can't drive it without a smile on your face.
“Good enough for the girls I go out with” 😂😂
I can't wait to watch your videos. I soooo much enjoy them. Love your videos thank you sooo much for your time. 😊
Great video
I have watched every one of your videos on youtube as and am now working my way through all of the shorts
My current 1542 duck boat, I built... I bought the hull at cabelas(in 2018) the trailer from a dealer(used for $300) then I bought a Thai longtail kit and gx390 copy(now a predator 459 max) and then I got a blind and... well...
I may not have the best rig, but the satisfaction of putting all the pieces together... and I have a pretty decent duck boat I did myself.
I did pay a guy to add the pods, I can barely weld steel, I'm not about trying aluminum, lol!
Thanks for the show guys 🍻
Just ordered us some crabs from Jimmy's! Look what we got some of your crabs 🦀! I miss my MD crabs. So nice to get them sent out here to Texas! Thank you brother. Keep killing it
love the clip of filling it up with gas to ensure your write off! work the system
BEST AD for Better Help I've ever seen....
I did not skip it, as I usually!
In hope we get to see the work being done on the Desperado 😊 that sort of thing is always good to watch, renovation and repair to me is far better than running about on a noisy mouldy boat lol 😅
Do more shorts that aren't a clip from your longer videos. I like the "can it catch" shorts.
So you know. We would absolutely watch a series we're Luke talks about every boat he has owned & ranks them as worst boat to best boat.
Good idea!
Gotta, Gotta see the boat hot tube
Hell ya! Come on, Luke!! Don't leave us hanging
Keep on killin it … you’re doing awesome . Love the content
Per 'Google'...
Chrysler manufacturered outboard from 1965 to the early 80s.
They sold everything to US Marine Boat builders (Force) in 1984.
Sears originally sold McCullough outboards.. which was bought by West Bend. In 65, Chrysler bought out West Bend.
Good luck we will look forward to updates whenever you can make them
Love your videos Luke. With all of the junk you have littered around town, you could probably post a video twice a day. 😂 You're like the Fred Sanford of boats, boat parts and motors (ask your dad or grandpa if they know who Fred is). Motor on my man!
Love ya brotha take your time we will be here
I got a 14 ft Grumman in a trade that looks like it had been sunk and had multiple prop strikes across the seats and lower hull. Filled the holes with rubber cement, gorilla flex tape, and sealant spray around the seams, now it's mint. Restored a Gamefisher 7.5 from 1987 and boom, fishing boat, no paying thousands of dollars for an identical modern aluminum boat, no paying thousands of dollars for a basic outboard (why in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ do outboards cost so much?! and four strokes suck, old 2 strokes from the 80s are still king, twice the power for half the weight)
PS that boat really looks like a 14ft not a 12ft
Love the captains seat
A buddy of mine had a boat similar to that and he took the top off an old little airplane and put on there to make a cockpit it was badass
Ima be here when you post. Prayers for you and yours.😊
Luke, let me begin by telling you I have a LOT of respect for you. Your positive attitude, your willingness to work HARD, your integrity.
Please, dude, I implore you: protect your reputation for honesty and integrity, and dissociate yourself from Better Help.
I know you're an extremely busy man, but do a tiny little bit of research into them, please, and you'll see what I mean.
For real. People are falling for the better help scam because of TH-camrs they trust.
Those sears gamefisher motors were made by a handful of different manufacturers depending on the year. I believe the earlier ones were made by eska/tecumseh and then they were made by force, which was a chrysler motor that was later the same crappy outboard, but from mercury. The first numbers in the serial number can tell you who made it.
Make sure the trailer bunk mount isn't putting a fresh water inlet into your boat bottom. Don't start motor when water pump is dry, it wears out the impeller.
Buddy of mine has a Johnson 6, and the instructions on the motor were something like "Full choke, 3 pulls. No choke, 3 pulls." Started like a swiss watch after that 6th pull. No clue why, we did the same thing with an impact. It also ran better on 87.
Hey Luke, the boat should be called “ The chameleon” like camouflage.😂😂 you guys are funny as hell. Keep up the “good” work ha-ha😂😂
Awww Luke, dating the crazies growing up🫣😆
Well, CLEARLY, the best things come to those who wait- you found a top-notch bride ❤ You guys are such a cute couple and very engaged in each other's lives. Cheers to you guys🍻
I think the reason I like Luke is because i basically do all the same sketchy stuff as him 😂
That is a great boat. Perfect for fishin' some small lakes.
TITLE: “I built a junk boat from junk boats.” ❤😂 Reduce, reuse, recycle babaaay!!!
Quality is always better than quantity. Can’t wait to see it.
You gotta do what you Gotta do to get the boats in shape and finish up crabbing.
Maybe once in a while, you can throw a short out . Just saying you keep making them I’ll keep watching.
If this man ever goes insane he'll be rocking in the corner saying "you ain't no crabber, ain't no crabber"
Sounds good Luke as far as the schedule cause I follow and it shows me when you post
I like your videos .I am from western Maryland hagerstown area. You are somewhat local for me. I recognize a lot of the area . When I was a kid, we would go camping and fishing on the Chester river we used to put in at matapeake Pier. I am sure any video you make will be great
Bought a desperado Tee, love it
Hell yeah another vid from luke
Wise waterman and outdoorsman know that if a skiff or jon boat floats, it’s definitely not junk!!
Spare boat. Spare boats. Spares boat. Spares boats. Rescue boat. Rescues boat. Rescues boats. Rescue boats. Lifes jackets.
Fuckin what?
The rusty crab would be a great name
every other week is fine, but a great filler would be keeping up on the Can It Catch shorts. and retrying the champ, jellyfish
inline seating , a throttle & steering man , that there's a race boat where i come from 😂
That stupid little Chrysler gave me so many nightmares of trying to resurrect an old Sears I had when I was 12. I spent a whole goddamn summer trying to get that thing to run.
Do to your videos, I now call all me tools a hammer😂. Hell i call my shoes hammers. I'll be putting my shoes on in the morning, and say, "im putting my hammers on" 😂😂😂
Patch patches the hole in the back of the boat. Follow to waterfall noise.
Cant wait to see the new boat.
That boat is not only good but good enough..! FV Good Enough.
Never try to start an outboard without water ear muffs. Time to replace the impeller!
Hey Luke that seal that you put on the outside well that is definitely not where it goes for sure!! It goes towards the inside of the hud and helps keep grease inside the hub and helps to keep water out!!! Then there should be a metal wheel bearing hub cap!! Just saying buddy!!!
You make excellent moving picture books with sound 😎
Hey welders have feelings too…Luke! I’m gunna have to go to my therapist now!
I like the idea about putting a cab on that boat
I love it. Screw what people say. Do what you have to do.
Thanks love it!!😍
Can't wait for the next one......have a good weekend!!
You too!!
36:07 You mean fighting sharks and whales and sea monsters 😂
I was wondering. I thought this would be fun for the old timers. What if you got a Nova Scotia lobster boat and remake the Orca from Jaws?
“ they don’t even make people in the USA anymore “ I’m dying laughing!!
excited for you! and excited for future videos!
I've got a 78 evinrude 9.9. When she's warm I can palm start off the flywheel.
Awesome looking forward to seeing some wicked wonders❤
