Last evening, my family was walking by the river at a local park. As we were leaving I found a baby snapping turtle. We brought it down to the river and watched it crawl in. Then we found 7 more and brought them to the river. (There was a 9th that we think got hit by a car.) I ruined a pair of shoes in the mud, but it was fun helping the turtles.
An idea for Shad Pop 2.0 - chop the shad into Tiny Tim bite sized pieces, and remove from freezer before everything is a solid block. Turtles should be able to chomp out bite sized chunks. If you really wanted some fun, you could put whole shad either in a food processor or a blender, fill up either your Pop mold or make a whole popsicle. ( Be sure to thoroughly clean those gadgets before using them for human food again!). Making a whole fish mush for food, is pretty common when rehabbing an injured water bird or orphaned fish eating mammal. There's a very good chance the big fish pellets that Odie and the bass enjoy, use whole fish mush as a major ingredient.
