    What a great video! Your details from your research were honest and fair an non-manufacture scripted with plenty of criticism and the ability to find positives. Best first ride review on the tube. Kudos!

    if the weight of the bike bothers you, go drop 10 pounds yourself. And powet wise, an average rider won't notice a difference in it because he won't ride it to the limit.

      @@ktm2smoke1 so I have a full pro circuit exhaust, took the back fire screen out of air filter and have a vortex ecu. Also went to a 50 rear sprocket. And a rekluse torq drive clutch pack. Everyone I ride with mainly rides ktms and they all talk shit about my bike. But we all know it's the rider that is the biggest part of the equation.

    10 pounds heavier than a KTM250 and ..... actually heavier 5 lbs than the KTM 450. that puts it also in the weight range of kx450.
    If you gonna comment. I didn't say it MXA did and I'm sure they weighed it.
    Hey I want a motocross bike heavier than KTM and KX 450 and like 10-15 less horsepower. CRF 250 is your bike

      That was the 2018 model. They changed that for 2019. I’m a B Class Super Senior (54 years old) rider, and had an ‘03 CRF450R and loved it. Been racing a ‘95 CR250R for the last ten years and just bought a ‘19 CRF250r and couldn’t be happier.
      It’s all the good things of the 450, without seeing God every other lap. I also got it as a “leftover” in 2019, and saved almost $2000. No regrets at all.
      Going to do the Northeast 24hr Race, in the Ironman 50+ class in July, can’t wait.

    The Japanese just can’t seem to build a dirt bike that competes with KTM’s significant weight advantage

      They all very broad and make Lots of motorcycles other than Just MX and Off road , for many years KTM has been pouring all there time money and R&D into There MX bikes ... now they are the Ferrari off the showroom floor.
      But
      The Japanese bikes are like like a sports car from a big manufacturer
      With some love and money they can be made to Run with the Ferrari,
      Take for example a mustang
      If it was modded with high performance parts it can run with the Ferrari
      The Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki
      Can be modded yo keep up
      But off the showroom floor The KTM/Husky has them covered

    • @petersouthernboy6327
      @petersouthernboy6327 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tarz Thomas - here’s the thing - KTM makes class leading Adventure bikes and Naked Street Bikes as well. The trails, woods, and desert weekend warriors have been buying up those brilliant 250 and 300 two stroke machines. KTM is the envy of the MX, Enduro, GNCC classes. I’ve never owned one - I’ve always owned Japanese bikes. But I can’t ignore reality, either.

    • @petersouthernboy6327
      @petersouthernboy6327 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      darryl stem - I don’t understand it. It’s like they only benchmark other Japanese bikes and pretend the 800 pound gorilla in the room isn’t there. Honda had 4 years to develop the 250. But the result is 20 pounds heavier than the KTM and it’s down on power vs the KTM. The only Japanese 250F that can compete with them is Yamaha. Sure, you can buy a pipe, cams, head work, and a Vortex ECU - but by then you’ve spent at least $1K more than a KTM.

    Too heavy and dual exhaust is stupid. No one wants to guess why the past 2 years of bikes suck for honda? The poor power characteristics may be due to............dual exhaust. More airflow does not mean more power. Just completely take the pipe off of your bike and tell me how it runs. The lack of low end power is exactly characteristic of reduced exhaust back pressure. This is why sport bikes run an exhaust flapper valve, The flapper valve opens around 800 rpm because below 800rpm the bike actually makes more power with the exhaust flapper closed. Honoda and honda riders are idiots and willing to sacrifice weight and power characteristics for the image gimmick of dual exhaust.
    Honda is about image not performance. Go buy a harley davidson if you want dual exhaust.

    • @chipper442
      @chipper442 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean 8000 rpm?, 800 rpm is basically just off idle for a sport bike.
