  • This is an impromptu video. I told my wife and family I wanted another smoker for my birthday/Father Day and I was accepting donations. Turns out BJ's had these on sale Father's Day weekend for $199. Big score for me!

Thanks for posting the review. This is the only review that I’ve found that goes from brand new unit to first cook. I appreciate it and will be looking to purchase this unit soon.

Did you try tightening up the damper bolt?

I have one that I got at BJ's. 199.99 There are a lot of modifications on youtube to help conserve heat and smoke. I know you are new to this unit but you have the tuning plates in reverse order. There is a stud on the rail by the firebox to lineup the first plate. So far I love mine. My first smoke was 4 boston butts. 36 lbs. It turned out great. Good luck.

Don’t use those BBQ handle clamps, check this Hack out and I promise you will be happier than drilling holes in your new Smoker:
Get a gallon jug, mix up a small batch of either Plaster, Quick-Crete cement or if you want to keep jug intact fill with sand. If you use plaster or cement, make sure you anchor a long Eye-bolt with 2 nuts and a washer in between at the end before it dries after you first pour. Then get you a metal hook with an eye loop. Attach the two with the appropriate length of marine rope. Anchor weight pulls down on your handles and creates a better seal. Do this before you add gaskets. When you cook and season your grill enough, if there is t too bad of gaps then the seasoning will fill it in naturally carried by the smoke.
I would most definitely use this method but with a chain on your firebox before ever attempting a gasket specifically in the firebox

I hope you have fun with it, so though i never got the appeal of a reverse flow smoker.

Some glass rope for the firebox should do the trick with some leaks... but the smoke chamber will seal up nice the more you cook with it..

You need a better diffuser go distribute your heat. From one end of your ribs to the other was a difference of almost 25 degrees. The one provided by the company doesnt work as well as a hack fix of foil wrapped grates
