[Plot Introduction/ synopsis]
The play tells the story of the princess Wang Xuan (played by Zhang Ziyi) who has a first love, the third prince Zitan (played by Tony Yang). Wang Xuan was involved in the court battle because of the prophecy of "getting her, getting the world." She became her father's chess piece and married Lord Yuzhang, Xiao Qi (played by Zhou Yiwei), from a humble background. Soon, Prince Helan (played by Yuan Hong) kidnapped Wang Xuan to seek revenge on Xiao Qi. The couple fell in love with each other because of a blessing in disguise. In the end, the couple joined hands to create a new era and guard their homeland's people.

For the last episodes I keep seeing comments that Awu is not a Rebel Princess but she definetly is...she saved the fortress from an attack, she refused to marry the first king, she saved the Cheng people, she saved the king when sive wanted to take over, she made sure the king' s will was read, she took the baby with her, there are so manny examples. How can you say she's not a Rebel.
You're so right my dear! From episode 1during her puberty ceremony she is already rebelling by defying empress dowager's wished for her to marry crown prince so she could be the next empress in the future. Some viewers don't get it, maybe they want to see Awu rebel with swords and in a destructive way. She is THE REBEL PRINCESS because she resist, defy or break (unnecessary) rules.
People watched the past episodes & forget then made comment saying things wrong. Don’t mind them because they do not thinks or maybe they can’t remembered.
Some of these people simply doesn't appreciate Zhang Zi Yi's excellent performance and rather nitpicking.
The princess is really a rebel . She defended even this idiot of an emperor over her husband saying the empire can’t stand a day without an emperor . Btw she forgot that the little prince in waiting is alive and eventually though still a baby became the emperor assisted by the imperial court .
For the era, she has gone where most of noble birth would not.
I love the fact that she perfectly fit in him everytime she cuddles to him. Her body size fits perfectly to his. 😍

He was loved by his army not only for his military ability but for his concern for them and their families beyond their stint as soldiers under his command. This was the base of the loyalty of his army. He even honored them even as departed souls.
Destiny gifted him with the most unlikely woman for a wife. She was very wealthy, a celebrated beauty and a noble woman. And she loved another. They were totally a mismatch but in time recognized how perfect they were together. While he never had or aspired for wealth, nobility and the social stature, he accustomed himself to it because it was her reality. She also adjusted to the Spartan life of a General’s wife in the barren lands of a military outpost in the far north and gaining the admiration of his men. And they were happy together.
I just realized what a fairy tale this has been and how much I have been relishing the trickles of episodes, in raw and in subbed. Who knew that a Chinese historical, The Rebel Princess, was about true love and happy ever after?

I like how Yuxin in her cute innocent way brought Song Huaien down back to earth. Every single question he ask her she answers by letting him know without Xiao Qi he will never be anything.

The Emperial soldiers even obeys Xiao Xi….When Zitan ordered them to bludgeon Gu 50 times, the soldiers stopped when Xiao Xi said “No need.” If the Emperial soldiers were truly unafraid of Xiao Xi & loyal to the Emperor, they would not have stopped & carried Gu off to beat him. Truly a formidable man!! Love him!!!

Xiao Qi has such a very noble and honest and a good character besides being gentle and at the same time strong. He thinks more of his soldiers and the people of the country than himself.

That was a powerful scene. It goes against all the rules. XQ is so gangster. I wish they would explicitly speak to the elitism that is clouding the imperial court and society’s thinking. XQ has character beyond measure in large part because he comes from a humble background and he’s self-made.
bcuz he knows he was not the real emperor and he was the one who had the late emperor killed, then blamed it on xiao qi even though he won't admit it, it's obvious he benefited it and became the emperor. xiao qi is righteous he won't bow down to undeserving even at the cost of his life

@ mike smith: I agree: I suspect Zitan really just wanted to see Awu more than anything. It's painful to watch Song Huaien fall into shadow. He feels like Smeegal turning into Golomb from Lord of the Rings. He's scary as all of his inner conflict plays out. The actor playing him is doing that well. I feel so sad for Yuixin. She's such a sweetheart.

Xiao Qi kept his convictions. That's why the nobles are scared of him. He's not focused on the throne. He just wants the truth. It was right for him and Awu not to kneel. They, along with the soldiers and the country, have been treated horribly.

It's so heartwarming to see that power/money hasn't corrupted Yiuxi, she's still the humble/down to earth/bubbly girl before she married. But sadly, power/money has corrupted her husband, Count Suyi. He doesn't deserve her! It must be hard for Yiuxi to see that Count Suyi have other concubines/women. Though maybe Yiuxi would be more willing to put up with it since she may see it as normal. OTOH, I'm suprised the other concubines haven't ganged up on her.

lets not forget that when they met Xiao Qi and Awu there was a gap whether it was age, experience and class. While Xiao QI already reach his his self-consiousness, he cant be influenced by others. in the other hand Awu still growing and changing, she doesnt have enough time to process all the betrayals and she is more into passive self protection.
@@furbabiessleepycat7222 Which just shows that she is not a 'rebel'. We've seen her be courageous and impetuous but nothing close to being a rebel. Not sure what she will do in the later episodes but so far the title is misleading where she is concerned.

表情声音都有点用力过猛了，尤其想表现内心的时候，我觉得他此时应该是这样想的，结果看到他的表情瞬间又不懂了。。。

General song look like a creeper. Sleepy Eye look on guys are cute but on him look creepy he's like a snake ready to strike
General Song made a slow and steady slide to the shady side. The thing that's really sad is that he cared about a woman who he couldn't have and he couldn't even talk about it with ANYONE. It's so much harder to move on from such a deep feeling when you bury it. So he had to keep covering things up. He was lost without XQ and he started hiding stuff from XQ. His low self esteem and his having to hide his feelings for Awu, which is really just natural, is his undoing. Too bad he couldn't talk about it and deal with it. Poor Yuixun. She's so precious and she wound up with a man whom she admires but who never loved her. She deserves to be cherised and she got this guy.
Yuxiu is dumb somewhat, or playing dumb. It is sad that she sees her husband changed and now conflicting as to why he grew ill toward Awu and the lord...General Song is hungry for fame and power just like the other nobles in the court. He just have more balls to face challenges but yet gets played as a pawn by others too. Such a pity for him.
Song was always greedy and a little dishonest. But he was fiercely loyal to Xiao Qi up until the point XQ “died”. When there was no XQ he got a taste of life without a master. He liked the idea that he could be the new XQ. As good as, or even better.
Then XQ came back, and he was mad about it. He felt like he was taking a step back, when nothing had changed. He just absolutely spiraled after that. 🤦🏻♀️

He had already risen far above anything he could have done on his own. But instead of being appreciative, it had just made him jealous, and greedy for more.

This episode didn't have all the right English translations. Many of the translations don't make much sense to the story line. WISH they do a better job with translations.
