[Plot Introduction/ synopsis]
The play tells the story of the princess Wang Xuan (played by Zhang Ziyi) who has a first love, the third prince Zitan (played by Tony Yang). Wang Xuan was involved in the court battle because of the prophecy of "getting her, getting the world." She became her father's chess piece and married Lord Yuzhang, Xiao Qi (played by Zhou Yiwei), from a humble background. Soon, Prince Helan (played by Yuan Hong) kidnapped Wang Xuan to seek revenge on Xiao Qi. The couple fell in love with each other because of a blessing in disguise. In the end, the couple joined hands to create a new era and guard their homeland's people.

I really find it cute when XiaoQi shows autority but everytime Awu said STOP, he always listen and will stop. 😅 I love him even more.

Awu and XQ communicated well. Their husband and wife talk on the court kinda satisfying for me.
Awu and XQ once had a talked about to lure the enemies, but both of them did not planned it well. Suddenly Huaien gave the evidence. XQ determined to kill Zitan. Awu tried to stopped XQ. XQ knows that Awu will defend Zitan so he just walked away.
On the court, when XQ ask Awu does she need to defend Zitan, her answer was " I'm defending Cheng". Defending Cheng was the duty of XQ and Ningshuo army. XQ words later proved that all his action must has supported by Awu. Awu last sentence make he realised everything. "No matter how many power do you have, if your heart has no faith, no fear, no resistance, you always be like rash man". Awu never calls Xiao Qi a rash man. XQ calls himself rash man, because he already made that mistakes once. He later understand, take down his sword. But he still to showed his frustation to everyone. Then he choosed to chop the throne and walked away.

Me too I was like holy crap I don't want him to leave her because he can't kill the emperor and leave her to up til this point still useless emperor.. most of the time the council members had to make decisions but even then without an edit they could only do so much so cheng and capital life have been disrupted. He forgot its not just the power of being on the throne or trying to get the woman he wanted it's about the people and their lands.

I choked up when Awu told Zitan 'brother Zitan, reader of the sages' who wanted benevolence for the people's suffering. She drew on their childhood to bring him around to still performing his duty as a Emperor no matter the circumstances. Awu is one of a kind ❤
The Empress Dowager engineered all the deaths. She schemed the death of the Empress an the Emperor.....She is the one constant for all the intrigue that goes on in the palace.

Quite a few people in these comments section were in nerve with Awu, and I wonder, whether or not they understand the writer's pattern? Even though I wasn't always all agreed on how he/she creates Awu as the symbols of nobility, but the writer was succeeded to create a constant character for Xiao Qi. He is not STUPID everyone, chills! 🤣 Watched it again and see beyond the shells.
Awu & XQ were always consistent in their roles. Right from the beginning Awu never forgot who she was. Her pedigree saved her in times of crisis, eg before Helan's father, negotiating with the rebel General & army. My thoughts 🙂
I am really happy to see a Chinese Drama, where there are those with integrity until the end. So freshing to see that two people can become one and love each other, while respecting their positions. Watching from USA🇺🇲

Not only lonely but you are never comfortable always having to "watch your back, Your meals, Your every thing" Look how awful it has been for Zitan. He never aspired for the throne as his brothers. Not able to let go of his despair pushed him to compete and undermine like the others. I wan to see the end of the Aunt.

This is a drama I will rewarch in the future because knowing things after you watch it sometimes we can pick up on things we didn't see in the beginning. And also it's a great drama worthy of rewatching. Everyone did an amazing job. 👏
I understand why she did that. I also know she loves her husband more, even if she doesn't say or sometimes show it openly. She had given her heart completely to him since their vows, so she didn't wanted him to be rash and regret later. However, I was still torn.

用了一天时间追到66集，只看了周一围的戏份，其他一概跳过，我居然也看懂了。整部剧想要拍出电影般的华丽感，精致感，但剧情太过拖沓，大部分人物塑造不够立体，缺乏魅力，表演也没有特别让人记忆深刻的华彩之处，只有大王是唯一看点。
特别是章子怡，演技，名不符实。

For example, Xiao Qi was content with this plan, this shell game, because it is the best kind of revenge. Awu knew that he was not going to kill the emperor, but the emperor thought he would and this was all part of the plan.
