It's because the first person said it must be ash blocks in the wiki, and all of the people after that tested with ash blocks and see that it works, and none of them tested it with any other material. Which is pathetic, really. Imagine if that first person tried controlling the Wall with candy cane blocks. We'd all be farming presents pre-hardmode just for that one fight.
Let's all be honest, Terraria is a game where it's a pain to actually test whether certain wiki facts are true. That's why the Terraria Mythbusters series was so popular

For some reason however that works with any block in the underworld despite it not looking like that's how it is intended to work from a code design standpoint.

Because there’s so much void (ie not chlorophyte) its growth doesn’t stop nearly as soon, and thus you end up with fewer total veins, but larger vein size- at least, I’m pretty sure that’s how that works, I’d have to double check the wiki

Seeing that orange moon in the background after blowing the walls away when you were digging out space for the solar pillar was quite a cool spectacle. Like the fabric of reality just tore open and another dimension is trying to leak into the void of your world. Fighting it in the void like that with the background exposed would've been pretty cool imo.
I found your channel at the beginning of this year and now you’re one of my favorite people to watch. It’s cool to find someone who has played the same games as you and has similar interests, so that’s why I think your channel is kind of a nice little cozy safe place. when i firstly played, i tried for like 10 minutes trying to eat the cake whitout seeing the mining buff. btw congratulations for this series, it was so fun
great, awesome series, interesting and challenging, can't wait to see the next.... as for a new world challenge i had a weird idea inspired by the pillars fight, a "space" world, in which everything are shadow painted walls, and all the biomes and stuff are planetoids, optional but it would be cool if you also had permanent Featherfall potion so it's more Spacey, it would be awesome to see a world like that in which the background looks like the space, perhaps add some extra decor and unique structures yourself, like ufos and such, it would be super awesome, anyways, if you read this, thank you and have a merry christmas.
This dude never ceases to amaze me. I absolutely love terraria but I'd never be able to even come close to the things he does in these series. Truly great and knowledgeable stuff. The fact that the Wall stays above any block path that's 2 thick is so helpful! Can't wait for the next one!

I hope you will do an event only playthrough someday. Where you use weapons, armor and accesories either dropped by the event enemies, crafted by the afromentioned drops or boyght from event related NPCs (like goblin tnkerer and bartender). I would like to see you building a supreme event arena.
Ive been following this series day 1 and it wasnt that long this is the very few series where I get actively seriously invested in. The final minecart ride with the music and your credits made me lowkey emotional.

Here's a world challenge: Terraria but the world is a donut. Not sure how to explain it, but basically you don't live on the inside of the donut, you live on the outer part and yeah, you get the idea. I really like these funky world playthroughs you make, and it'd be interesting to see more

Mining armour + Mining potion + Ancient Chisel + Cake + any pickaxe with Light modifier + food, albeit with just 3-4 of these you'll hit the mining speed cap
