Love to see you guys using more affordable older kit. I am a beginner and I am on a tight budget, in the last few months through reading reviews and careful use of Ebay and Gumtree I have put together a bag full of clubs for under £100. John Letters T9+ Driver, 3W & 5W - Wilson Di7 Irons - Dunlop DP1 56 degree wedge & a Rife Aussie putter. All in great condition and all for under a ton! Golf CAN be affordable if you do your homework on older or less well known kit.
Now all I need to do is learn to use them properly!!

The Hogan Apex Plus forged irons to this day will perform with any iron on the market in playability, feel and distance. Anybody who has ever played them knows what I'm talking about. They have a bit of offset, so if you're not into that it might be a bit off putting. But other than that, once you hit them, you'll wonder why any other manufacturer even bothered making irons after them. Yes, they are that good.

Just picked up a set of them 1999 version 3-EW and a set of Hogan Radial 3-9 irons - need to pick up the E wedge, but I am a lefty and harder to find in the wild. With the Radials - the 3-9 is like playing a modern 4-PW set anyway. Wonderful sets - both of them.

Illegal square grooves? For what? A friendly match?
You can still play any tournament short of USGA and R&A events, and legally post handicap rounds with square grooves until 2024. And even then, most golfers aren't posting scores (including golf pros, where it isn't relevant)

just wanted to drop a line and let you know that I purchased the Taylormade speedblade iron after watching your review (and after considerable testing of a lot of different clubs). I was using a set of Arnie's Own (18-20 year old) clubs and was averaging about a 96 on course (18.something HCP). My first round with the clubs I shot a 93. My second round, after getting a taste of the different in distances during the first round, I shot an 85! My first time breaking 90. Split every fairway, save 1, with my Ping G5. GIR most of the holes including all the par 3's (Which I cant remember the last time I made it to the green off the tee on a PAR 3). Thanks for what you do Rick. I have learned a lot from you and the other Brit youtube golf instructors. (Me and my golf for Irons, Crossfield for fixing my slice, you and pete for everything else).

I would bring back the Cleveland Launcher 460cc Driver from the late 90's - early 2000. The BECU Eye 2's look sweet. I still play the Zing irons with stiff JZ shafts I bought in 1996, new. They are so easy to hit and accurate that I have never sought to replace them. Besides my yardage numbers have been consistent since I was a freshman in college many moons ago.
    Great video men!

I actually have Ricks Driver and had so much trouble with it but figured out it was my swing pattern and after that this driver produces amazing results. long drives, very straight- don’t bet on trying to create draw/fades with it but nice correct swing this driver will create a lot of good opportunities for good scores. I’m a 19 handicap and my handicap should be better if the rest of my golf bag was good as well as being consistent in every shot on the course.

I used to have a set of those Ping irons. They were golf NIRVANA back in the day. My Dad actually had a set with Mizuno Exsar Gold shafts in them which he absolutely loved! Shows you how much stronger they've made the lofts on golf clubs over the years doesn't it... Ping used to offer "tournament lofts" which would have made those clubs 1 weaker than Rick's rather than 2 clubs weaker. Wonderful wonderful clubs though! And lie adjustable using a vice and "the mallet of persuasion." :) :) :)

Lovin this set of vids! Looks like rick is regretful of his driver choice. Must have been for sentimental reasons. Ping eye 2 wedges with those grooves still nice...

A G10 draw driver and Ping i3 blade irons. Very forgiving driver and great feel irons. I miss them.

I had a white hot 2-ball blade when I was 13, and that remains the best putter I've ever had!

This video is exactly 30 minutes long. If you divide it by 10 it equals 3. There were 0 par 3's on this vlog. Illuminati confirmed.

Mizuno MP-4 irons. I still regret selling the set I had back in 2000. They were the best feeling clubs I have ever owned. Had them mounted in Rifle Project X shafts.

This looks like it is going to be so much fun! I predict that you're both going to be around 74. Strictly on the fact that you're going to be getting used to playing with these old/new clubs. (updated after watching) you two have great banter and good lord you both are so weird sometimes. :)
