Thank you for highlighting that polyester CAN be comfortable! Sometimes it feels like youtubers reject things at the thriftstore JUST because it’s polyester, which is so sad because some polyester is actually nice.
You’re spring lol! I always think I don’t believe in seasons and things it’s nonsense but you are so a spring! Any color from that palette makes you look so radiant
Living in eastern Canada, we can see all four seasons in one day 🤣 Layers are usually a good idea. It’s fun to see how other people dress in different climates ❤
You are definetely a spring! I’ve commented that before 💕 every single color from that palette makes you look stunning. That bright blue/green blouse you are wearing makes your eyes POP. Until this video I hadn’t realized you have such beautiful eyes! ❤you look so radiant!
What a refreshing list of essentials!....a far cry from the usual! I was most impressed with the styling of the short sleeve bright button up shirts.....you looked so great in the way you styled them with shorts and the cowboy boots! A signiture outfit for you for sure!
As a curvy woman, spring and summer fashion is my personal hell lol but I am trying to take inspiration from people like you and others I follow that have really good summer fashion and try to enjoy it as much as I can! I think my thrift wish list items are a good pair of blue denim shorts, long skirts, boxy loose tank tops like the ones you showed, and flowy dresses!
Being in a cooler Spring climate (it was 37 degrees when I left for work this morning!), I find myself loving lightweight sweaters with springy patterns like daisies and ice cream cones. I also love a good floral embroidered grandma sweatshirt. But my absolute must have is allll the jean jackets.
Your spring and summer style is actually very similar to mine! I also love to wear flowy maxi skirts when it gets hot outside, as well as colorful button downs with a basic white or black tank top underneath. The more colorful, boxy tank tops are also a favorite of mine, sometimes I even wear them as a going out top. I wish I could wear my shorts more, but I rarely do because I work in an office and we have a dress code. Not excited for the heat, very excited for the fashion.
I really like midi dresses that have buttons in the front and are sleeveless to then wear over a tight fitting t-shirt. I‘ve been wearing this for 4 years and still love it as an outfit
It's going to be a good day because Alexa posted!! Great video! I struggle with spring/summer because I'm such a fall/winter girl, but you're getting me through!!
great video!!! and i totally agree that there's a certain type of cool-feeling polyester that is super breathable and better than cotton sometimes! but yeah I love this type of video and getting to hear you talk about pieces you really love!!
My spring essentials include platform sandals, mini skirts, maxi skirts, cropped shirts and hair accessories like headbands and hair clips! I want to try the oversized scrunchie as well!
Love the button up shirts! I've been able to get a steady haul of men's cotton/linen button-ups second head, and I especially look out for aloha-ish prints. That "Blossom"-esque hat blasted me back to the past. It would look good with a flower pinned to it, if you really want to embrace the 90s.
🎉🎉 Love BUCKET hats 🎉🎉, esp. brim turned up 🌺Blossom Style 📺. The 90s were such an absolutely fabulous decade for ultra feminine hats. It was something you could find all over the mall in those days too. 😬I've got a big head, so nowadays I often scour the Men's Dept for bucket hats. Even better to buy them end of season or during the off season for best price. A pretty 🌸silk flower would be a playful way to feminize a more masculine utilitarian version too. 😉One of these days, I'll actually try my hand at sewing a double sided bucket hat. 🧢I also like to wear caps. In my years working at Disney, I bought one in every conceivable color & quirky character. Ideally, would like to wear a natural woven Fedora style one day. Have a few felt Fedoras in black, navy, & emerald green〰️but haven't had any luck with the lightweight sunny versions. Something has always been off about them. 👒My collection of wide brimmed sun hats always seem more suitable for dresses than skirts/shorts. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
I live in Norway, we have cold winters here in the east, higher up over the sea limit, a lot of snow and it last about 4 mnd a year. Summer is not that warm here, ecept Juni. People here have way to much dark colours, unisex, and oversized clothing. I like your american spirit, Disney clothes ( i am a fan of Donald Duck and Oncel Scrooge and also Betty boop) and cristmas sweaters. (the tastfull ones) We dont have much of these styles in this part of the world, so thats fun to see.
Perfect pair of denim shorts for me ... High-waisted, dark wash, straight leg (because my thighs are 2-3 sizes smaller than my waist, to the point that "skinny" jeans don't usually touch my legs if I buy the right size), 8-9 inch inseam with a sewn hem or 11-12 inches with a raw edge.
always enjoy your videos! I live in an even hotter climate than you do (southern Nevada). My summer essentials include Birkenstock sandals (I don't know how you stand socks and shoes in the heat), cotton sleeveless, loose midi dresses, Oh My Gauze "Grace" cotton tee shirt (can't say enough good about that - I have three!), and just below the knee cotton pants. Still looking for the perfect swimsuit, but I have three. Lands' End tankinis work for me, but finding patterns I like is hard. Thanks for the video!
You're so right about the perfect shorts! I have some trouser shorts in fun colors + a tapestry pattern pair. And as much as I love them all, they're not as versatile when it comes to styling compared to denim. I ruined my denim shorts last summer, now I can't wear them anymore. I'm currently on the look for my perfect pair, but no luck so far.
I got my colors done last year and it is the best thing I’ve ever done. It brings me so much joy!! And it has saved me so much money. My season is a spring! I feel like you might be a winter🤨😉but you’ll have to get it done to see lol. It’s called “house of colour” if anyone is wondering!
Samee it's the best investment I've made!! (mine was done by Carol Brailey). Completely changed the way I shop, my wardrobe is starting to look much more colourful but still cohesive
Great video! I have that bucket hat. For spring and summer I like skorts. The longer styles protect the thighs like 9” Bermuda shorts but are way easier to thrift. And there definitely are different grades of polyester! Woven fabrics seem much more breathable than knits.
My perfect pair of shorts.. I hate to admit.... 🫣 But I'm obsessed with Abercrombie's dad shorts! Last year they had 8" inseam shorts that I LOVE!! I purchased the new dad style this year that's 5" and I actually really love them too! Their denim shorts have been my ultimate favorite so far, even though they're kinda thick for summer, but I haven't found anything else that I love more yet. 🖤 Right now the weather has been so back and forth where I live, and the cooler weather is spoiling me! I'm not looking forward to the heat this summer. 🤣 Thank you for this video to inspire me for warmer weather fashion! 💛
Polyester is a fiber, meaning it's the string / the thread you then load into the weaving machine to create a bolt of fabric. How that machine weaves the fiber; the up-and-down pattern (there are hundreds of options right there), the tension and even the spacing set (a lot of "transparent" clothing is often from fabric where there is more physical space in between the threads, which is then why you can "see through" it). So when people talk about the pros and cons of polyester, how it was woven is like a whole other layer of consideration. Generally polyester's greatest advantage is it can be super versatile; meaning you can engineer it much more precisely then organic fibers to get it to do EXACTLY what you want it to do. So if you wanted a poly-blend to be breathable and airy, that is 100% possible and you could control on every fundamental step of development to turn it into exactly the touch, the breathability and the weight/drape you want it to be... But the major problem with polyester (besides environmental issues) is that 99% of the industry don't utilize it's potential. Because polyester is cheaper to produce then plant-fibers, most clothing manufactures only focus on the fact it is cheap and can be made EVEN CHEAPER if you're clever about it. This is why a lot of vintage polys feel "interesting" or have "surprising" properties; in the earlier days of it's manufacturing there was a heavy emphasis on exploring the possibilities and pushing the limits of the plastic-fiber to see what it could go beyond other fibers. You can still find some companies pushing these limits and exploring new ideas; Uniqlo has some poly materials that are meant to do very specific things, a long with many sports companies creating work-out gear that does neat stuff. From a purely fashion perspective, the most innovation continues to come out of Japan; the Japanese love creating polyesters that actually work very well for humid environments, which sounds really counter-intuitive but that's what makes them so fascinating. Overall, for anyone that found the above a bit overwhelming to consider, it is at the end of the day easier / more direct / more eco-conscious to stick with plant-based fibers in your clothing if you are looking for comfort, sustainability and consistent long-lasting wear. But I would encourage while thrifting or shopping to always keep your mind open for those polyester unicorns; the unique blends and weaving techniques that can create one of a kind textures or strange combinations of properties that are just physically impossible with plant-materials.
Here in East Tennessee (temps are hotter the further West in TN you go), it was 80 yesterday, and a windy, chilly 55 today. I got my summer clothes out, anyway. Can’t wear denim here in the summer; too humid.
they look like frye campus boots 14l. they are a major investment if you buy new, so finding them secondhand on depop or finding a similar style somewhere else might be the move if you don’t have $500 to throw at some shoes !
Colour theory is not nonsense 🙂 You can wear any colour, if you want to. It's just that some colours will make you look "fresh and bright", and others will make you look "tired and sick". Trust your gut feeling! When you look in the mirror, you'll know.
I HATE shopping for swimsuits. I never get it right. Even when it looks good in store and NOT over $100 it usually look awful after its wet or after washing. Still searching.
For the first time in my life at the age of 64 I found my perfect swimsuit. I loved it so much that I reordered it so I wouldn't worry about maybe not finding it again. It's perfect I feel so confident maybe not beautiful but confident.
The pros that do colour analysis will not tell anyone to follow their season with draconian zeal, but what it does is explain why some colours look good and others don’t. It can predict what colour will work if you’ve never tried it before.
On the topic of summer hats, can somebody help me? I love what a hat adds to my outfit, it feels like a perfect finishing touch. In autumn/winter I usually opt for berets or newsboy caps, sometimes beanies. So I'd like to do the same for warmer weather. But I absolutely cannot find a style of summer hat that I like on me! Like, I strongly dislike bucket hats and baseball caps. And then wide brim hats look fine on the beach, but they make me feel like a farmer if I wear them with regular outfuts. I've searched Pinterest for other summer hat ideas, but I've found nothing so far. Please, help if you have any suggestions.

Us in Alberta rn! This morning was -3 it’s now 19…
Yes, Calgary hit near 20 yesterday, and now the snow is blowing in for tomorrow.
True story! PEI here
The green top you’re wearing is your best colour!
Same here in Germany 😅
I’m jealous of you, because my spring essentials are waterproof shoes and waterproof and windproof jacket.
Was thinking the same weather is terrible in Ireland were lucky if we ever see the sun😂
probably not as extrem but here in germany we haven't seen the sun either 😅
You are definetely a spring! I’ve commented that before 💕 every single color from that palette makes you look stunning. That bright blue/green blouse you are wearing makes your eyes POP. Until this video I hadn’t realized you have such beautiful eyes! ❤you look so radiant!
I agree, those bright happy colours are so her. Sunshine is a great way to characterize her look.
Spring/Summer essentials for me: skorts!, 100% cotton or cotton/linen pants or capris, sandals, and loose flowy skirts/dresses
Not me listening to this while there is a snowstorm outside my window
What a refreshing list of essentials!....a far cry from the usual! I was most impressed with the styling of the short sleeve bright button up shirts.....you looked so great in the way you styled them with shorts and the cowboy boots! A signiture outfit for you for sure!

You absolutely rock that blouse 🔥
I’ve been really into babydoll dresses
you should tie some bows through the holes on either side of the bucket hat! That would look so cute!!
i will always love a bucket hat (to my mom's dismay LOL) and that denim one is SO CUTE on you!!!
Omg Charlee swim has been on my list forever ! This is majorly influencing me haha
I found socks in a department store that are based on famous artists. I have two pairs of Monet 🎨☺️
always enjoy your videos! I live in an even hotter climate than you do (southern Nevada). I also consider cashmere cardigans (because of COLD A/C) and a couple of tank tops summer essentials.
I love this videos because I live in Panama so we hot as it can get ALWAYS. So seeing hot weather friendly outfits is my addiction
This top, the hair, the cute little smiley thumbnail - this is the sweetest you've ever looked dear 🥲
ah thank you 🥹💘
What brand are your brown boots? They are perfect!
I’m loving your hair color right now, you look so good! 💓
You're so right about the perfect shorts!

Those brown boots look absolutely beautiful!!! So are you 😍
Might you please provide details regarding the beautiful blouse you are wearing?
Hi Alexa, what brand and style are the knee high brown boots?
Love the way you say spring ❤ Spreen!
Try Sox Trot for summer anklets. Love them. They also have knee high for colder weather but I ❤️ the anklets.
My outfit fav always is jeans , my jacket , and tenis , ❤ shirt cuties❤
The frilly socks are so cute!! Definitely on my list of things to buy for Spring and Summer 🥰

I agree with your essentials
Love the top you are waring, so cute!
Your style is so early 90s!

I love patterned socks. I have been collecting them for years. No joke, I probably have well over 500 pairs.
your hair is so pretty omg

Those brown boots are amazing!😍 what brand they are?
The bucket hat is so dreamy!! Glad you finally found one you like ❤ love from the UK where its still windy and cold. X
I luv the cutie jelwery❤🎉 and cute outfits , the crop top are awesome with jeans

I have a better idea of what to thrift for now, thank you
Maybe you don't need one where you live, but an essential for me is a raincoat 🌞🌧🌩
Thank you
LOVE the bucket hat!! I’m actually looking for a bucket hat too! I got a big head though so it’s hard
thank you for your help bc I suck at summer lol

Those boots are Fryes, or Frye knockoffs! They're a great classic, going back to the 70s.

Boots for summer ? No way and I have the red scrunchie as well
🤩🤩🤩
A random question for you...are there 82 other Alexa Sunshines?
I know there's at least 1 because that's why I had to add a number haha
😂
"go to your local thrift store" ..*cries in german*
❤❤
Giant scrunchies on me is very escaped from an asylum chic.
On you they are adorable - go nuts 😊
