      Me too... I am quiet and either get talked over or everyone stops and listens. Most people don’t hear me talk much less joke so when I try to joke either they take it seriously or they laugh their ass off cause it was unexpected... I’m a fire sign but can mold to my environment cause I’m a people pleaser... so I get along well with water signs and pretty much anyone who isn’t rude... my sun is a Leo, asc and moon is sag, Venus and Mercury is Virgo, and Mars is Libra along with Saturn in Aries. So that’s a pretty decent mix...

      Ni has the ability to foresee if someone and their patterns will align with ours with longevity, so when we meet them we automatically 'know' if they will be in our lives. It's a sweet sadness that occurs when we recognize this, and it is what causes us to disappear rather than hurt them (especially when we are younger and more averse to conflict).

    "they are many things to many people" is a blessing and a curse. We strive to keep the peace to the best of our ability, so we analyze and figure out the individuals around us and adjust to find social harmony. The “chameleon” quality is really interesting for me to reflect on, because I definitely feel like I’ve always been able to get along with almost any group, but I never feel like I’m being fake to mesh with different people. I’m always being my genuine self, but I tend to respond to whatever emotional frequency others are putting out and naturally reciprocate with whatever aspects of myself best match. It’s important for others to understand that INFJs aren’t necessarily being inauthentic or manipulative when we do this, and that it’s usually not even something we’re choosing to do consciously. We’re like water - we can take different shapes depending on where you put us, but that doesn’t change what we’re made of.

The only reasons I've hated myself sometimes or felt unworthy was probably down to hating that I couldn't fit in or be understood, comparing my difficulties in belonging to others who seemed to have no problems but I didn't see them as being nicer or better people than me? So, as an infj, it’s really interesting that our cognitive functions can be interrupted on medication. I was diagnosed with seizures a year ago. I was put on Keppra, I stopped absorbing other people’s emotions. I also stopped caring about other people, and in general had zero empathy. Something I had my entire life. It was so foreign to me, not caring for others. Also, my parents, husband and friends noticed the change. I’m also, naturally not an angry person nor am I confrontational. I started to become confrontational, which is not me. I talked to my neurologist, he started to get me off the Keppra. About a week after I was off, I the anger left. I started becoming my normal self again for the first time in a year. It proves that it truly is cognitive function and not personality. Because, the Keppra acted as a disrupter on my brain. I’m on a new medication. I do have seizures again now, so we will have to figure out better dosage. However, finally being myself again after a year is the best gift in the world. I always thought I didn’t want to be an infj. But, for the year I wasn’t one. When, my brain stated working again, I’m grateful for who I am. Even, if it means I have to deal with seizures now an then. But, I’m sure we can figure that out, getting the right meds takes some time. It’s just odd that, meds can play such a roll in our cognitive functions.

I remember back in High school I would sit all alone by myself somewhere there are no people. It may be due to the fact that INFJs often have a methodical approach to day-to-day situations and can easily draw the line between their emotions and reality, as well as seeing through bs easily. It gives other people the impression that they are quite the opposite of emotional. But when you really get to know them, you quickly find out that underneath the surface, they are a bunch of goofballs who struggle to think rationally in stressful enviroments.

Good, because you can kinda “choose” your people (even though we all know we would prefer to be one-one), and bad, because sometimes you can question your own personality. We adapt ourselves every time we meet someone to get close to them but, depending on the situation, we can actually question ourselves and realize we may not be what we say we are, and we don’t really know how we are when we are out there cause we are always changing our personality to suit other’s.

    I used to be told "I can't figure u out" after a while I got used to answering "I can't figure" myself out too". I am introverted but can sometimes be extroverted on a good day. I'm good around all kinds of people but also have an insatiable need for alone time. I could easily tell how someone felt towards me instantly just by seeing their facial expressions yet never felt the need to take advantage of it even if the feelings were romantic unless l was fond of the person. After being narcissistically abused for years I happened to watch one video about narcissism and it just snowballed from there. Finding out about typology made me feel like I wasn't weird and the seemingly contradictory behaviours I exhibited seemed to make sense. Now I have so much confidence in my skin. I appreciate my uniqueness and in fact take pride in it. I went from losing my sense of self to having an aura people can't quite ignore... I can tell the difference. I wish other Infjs would get exposed to psychology. That's my one true wish!

    As an INFJ, I really agree with this! I thought that I may not be, but after a lot of research on cognitive functions, I realised that my very high Ni and Fe (as well as Ti, although my Se isn’t as strong) that it was definitely my type.
    I thought that I may have been mistyped because, I am very logical in my way of thinking. But, you can see my friend (who is an INTJ) is very different to me in the way he processes things. He’s very intelligent and focused, but will not take people’s emotions into account (this is not a generalisation btw, just what I’ve seen from him).
    I also thought that I may be an INFP, because I hold my views and beliefs very dearly to myself. But, my other friend (who is an INFP) holds them a lot stronger than I do. Which I thought was really cool, as you could always tell what her views were! As opposed to mine, which are strong but subtle (if that makes sense).
    I also agree with the fact that I adapt depending on who’s around me. My views and opinions stay the same, but the way I show them can alter based on who’s nearby. I’m aware that not everyone would appreciate some things, so I tend to block them out to please them instead (I’m a people pleaser; hate feeling disliked).
    Really cool video, man! I really enjoyed it. Saw a lot of similarities in myself here!

    I'm an INFJ btw, but it feels like that.
    This mindset makes me forget my own self and my goals and get distracted by people,
    forging our own identity and knowing how to separate it from others emotions and thoughts is not an easy thing to do.
    It gets easier over age, but we need to have different social experiences or we will not be able to deal with people right and end up being doormats...
    Any tips from mature INFJs would be much appreciated!

    • @meagiesmuse2334
      @meagiesmuse2334 3 ปีที่แล้ว +75

      @Ammar Hararah - I don't know how mature I am, but I am pretty darn old! The biggest lesson for me as an INFJ has been to act with intention in all aspects in my life, and to put my own intentions first. I work at no longer mirroring people, because I once mirrored the person who meant the most to me, out of fear of losing him, and lost him for that very reason. He could tell I was not being myself and did not trust me. I omitted all my emotional expression from the relationship to make him comfortable (he is INTJ) and lost myself in the process. Other people rarely think about you, so don't care what they think. Be yourself and yes, you will lose people, but you only lose those who are wasting your time and you have way less time than you think you do when you're young, especially if you are female. I've also found that very extraverted types are a waste of time for me, even when I like them. They're just not compatible with me, and constantly having to explain why I don't like the phone, or can't handle two social events in one day, or only want to have deep conversations is exhausting. Also, verify, verify, verify...trust your incredibly accurate intuition, but ask probing, precise questions to verify your intuition. Do not assume anything! Other people are often not as ethical as we are, and if you don't ask, they won't tell.

    • @loref4200
      @loref4200 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@meagiesmuse2334 Exactly! These were hard lessons for me as well. I'm just now 'waking up' to my own voice, and recognizing the extent that I've been mirroring not only for harmony, but for preservation. This is an important lesson for any INFJ.

    • @meagiesmuse2334
      @meagiesmuse2334 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@loref4200 - I think it's really wonderful that you have this insight at your age (assuming that photo is you). I wish I had known all of this back when it counted so much and I was making huge, life-changing decisions. I also have to remind myself that the behavior I'm mirroring might also be a lie for public consumption, since most of us lie in our public image, so I could be faking it to fit in with someone who is also faking it. What a monumental waste of time and energy! I also want to add from my perspective as an old broad, that estrogen isn't called the "nice hormone" for nothing. It makes us females gloss over and put up with things that will seem appalling to us when we look back in time. This is one of mother natures' tricks, designed to get us to mate and make babies. As a feeling type, I learned to make pro and con lists and consider those too, along with my feelings. I'm still learning to differentiate between my heart (not trustworthy) and my gut (more trustworthy than my mind).

      I'm not an INFJ, but I've been very close with a couple of you guys, through good and bad. What worked for my INFJs is kinda obvious and not type-specific, but merits repeating in this day and age: adopt a basic moral code and pray for guidance. In particular, meditate on the precept of not lying or deceiving. If you act, speak and behave in accord with truth in every situation and with every person, you will be polarizing, since you are (like many are) full of contradictions. It will cause friction, some will at times perceive you as too weird, too empty, too situationally/emotionally inconsistent, too insensitive/calculating etc. But it will be the truth. You will learn to take the heat and face who you really are. Others who care will also learn to take the heat and will have a chance to face reality and grow. Not to mention it will make your life more interesting. Love, be humble, speak the truth and make your dance through life beautiful. This alone will solve 90% of your potential worries and problems in life.

    My experience with INFJs Is that they are guarded emotionally though they pose as selfless, wise counselors. They manipulate others and are not nearly as warm and caring as they appear. Sure they help others a lot but they keep their distance in terms of true intimacy, a fact which they often come to lament when their lives feel shallow. They crave understanding which they give to others in spades. They need a lot of love but someone has to be dedicated and confident to break through their defenses.

      That's very well observed. I'd say that we usually do have good motivations, but good motivations can get twisted up darkly, (Ni can do that sometimes) and that can lead to being manipulative, controlling, to having that sort of false appearance you noticed. At dark extremes INFJs become cult leaders and religious/ideological fanatics. Personally, I think part of what leads to that is overextending our abilities to engage with people, getting over-involved; we are introverts after all, trying to help people in mass quantities can be draining to us, and that can derail to weird savior-victim complexes.
      We really do have a lot of emotional reserve, it is difficult to break past our defenses, and actually feeling confident in true intimacy is really difficult for us, though those are things that we crave. I think that healthy, emotionally mature INFJs are good at setting limits for themselves while also nurturing and opening up to connections; they understand their own emotional reservations and the limits of what they can actually do. And then we can give pretty wise advice, have a knack for understanding people keeping many contexts in mind, and have a talent for empowering people. (Idk that anyone is full selfless though xD). At any rate, INFJs really aren't as inherently angelic as we're often depicted, we're as human as any other type. It comes down to the individual.

      theres actually a reason for this i never understood before, our ability to appear manipulative. it took some time to realize thats how others saw me, and it happened with people i got really close to. i feel like i struggle with a few different sides of myself and ive hammered myself so much because the last thing i want to do in the entire world is to hurt people or have people feel like im playing them. all kinds of people open up to me, a lot of them strangers will tell me their whole life story the day they meet me. ive had multiple people this year say they would never forget the impact i made on their life; and that i was the kind of person you met once in a lifetime. at this time, i become some void for them subconsciously. i become what they need to feel better, who they need in life at that moment, all with purest intentions and i am being myself, its just a very give kind of relationship where they dont really know the kind of person i am. when the relationship goes on and i feel safe finally expressing myself, they feel manipulated, frustrated and betrayed; even thought that was the absolute LAST thing i wanted. All i want to do is help people, i have done it to my own expense many times in the past. in a way ive learned subconsciously in order to actually help people this is what i have to do, to have good friendships and to not scare people with how in tune to things i am. im working on that to this day, its j harder to make good relationships being infj and its scary tbh, especially cuz all i want is deep connections with people. im guarded because when people finally see how perceptive i am, it intimidates them and drives them away. and at this point its hard to believe that i can find people that love as hard as i do, feel as hard as i do, and that think like me, so it takes a while to see if a connection is worth the potential pain if it doesnt work out

    I go by feelings and my friend and I were picking up a piano, renting a trailer and I felt something was wrong and told him to abort the mission, I'll pay the $30 rental fee for the trailer and that I feel something is wrong and I don't know why or what but intuition is telling me that this isn't right so let's just turn around.
    Within literally no less than 2 minutes the wheel of the trailer just falls off.
    I've had many instances of this intuition.
    INJF hate the bar scene.
    I hate the bar scene because I go by emotions and in bars there's too much chaotic emotions, uncontrolled, and untrue feelings, also a violent atmosphere that is too much to emotionally process and the main cause of being an introvert from crowds is the act of processing emotions. It has nothing to do with being rude or unfriendly it has to do with processing and also to reset my state of peace and who I am. That's the 'introvert' part for me, otherwise I totally test to be an extrovert 100٪ I'm an omnivert because I test to be both an extrovert and introvert.
    I do like the karaoke scene in bars, if that's the focus and if there are not many people.

    Ps. I dont even have a bf but I feel like I really know what to say to them 😅

      It also happens to feel like I know what advice to give even though I haven't experienced it myself. And when other people share their experiences it feels like I've experienced them too even when I literally haven't.

      This is great to hear especially on a video about INFJs since they often report being misunderstood and misrepresented ~ Nathan

    This really resonates with me as an INFJ Grant but I have been typed INTP MBTI. Definitely act like a combination of the 2 but an INFJ is much more likely to stick to a plan and succeed in life. I need a lot of external prompting which is probably why INTP won slightly. I'll master a thing and then quit, either because it is no longer challenging or no one else finds any value from it.

      Exactly. Master something, challenge gone. On to the next thing.
