    How come people use terms like "dispatch" or "process" instead of "murder" or "kill" or "slaughter?" We don't do that for human deaths do we?

    • @3MISSISSIPPI
      @3MISSISSIPPI  ปีที่แล้ว +63

      Elena, I don't normally respond to these kinds of baited comments but I am in that kind of mood tonight so here we go. I assume you are vegan, or at least vegetarian and if so, I am happy for you. It is difficult to live a vegan lifestyle and maintain optimum health but if you are taking the correct supplements in B-12, Omega fatty acids, Iron, Calcium, Zinc & Iodine it is absolutely possible. We don't take supplements because we eat the foods our body needs, but to each their own. Murder.. Big word! It's actually a legal term and it only applies to humans so let's not go there. Yes. "slaughter" is a term farmers do often use and it is an accurate description of the act that is taking place when sending an animal to winter camp. "Kill" is also accurate. Make no mistake, we are ending the life of an animal that we have raised as a source of food for our family and we have no problem with that. "Dispatch" is used to define this process because it tends to be less offensive to many people who are a little too "Woke" for their and this county's own good. The best I can tell, somewhere between 1 & 2% of the population of the planet is vegan. Our family is in the 99 percentile that is NOT vegan, so are you trying to shame us for being meat eaters or for how we acquire the meat that we consume? We try to educate people on how they can raise their own animals, give them a great life and then process them as quickly and painlessly as possible. RATHER THAN, buying meat from a store that was commercially grown in a terrible environment, has to be treated with antibiotics because of that environment and was then dispatched in a terrible way...... Are we really your fight? Why are you not standing in the meat Isle at the local grocery store holding up a sign that say's "Stop The Slaughter"? We eat 3 to 4 meals a weak that include animal proteins, because medical science has shown that is all that is required for our dietary needs. AND, we try to make sure those animal foods lived an amazing life and were dispatched in a fast and clean fashion and that all of the animal was used... Nothing wasted. These animals were farmed and raised for food, just like the Broccoli you had for dinner tonight.... Are we now going to have a discussion about weather or not plants feel stress or pain? Have you looked into the carbon footprint and environmental damage caused by commercially growing vegetables??? I would be happy to discuss all of these subjects further with you at length but I ask you to really reflect on what fight you are fighting first. (Mike)

    I've watched scenes inside a pig slaughterhouse, and it was truly dreadful what those animals go through before they finally die. The quick lights-out method shown in this video clip is the definition of humane dispatch. The hogs are calm and unsuspecting until darkness comes. To all the tree huggers who would rather all farm animals go to retirement homes and are never killed, I DARE y'all to watch just one slaughterhouse video clip.

If you think this is a great way to die, consider if you want that hot chick in cutoff jeans shooting you in the head, right now, no time to think. Bam, she shot you in the head, you're on the ground suffering, bleeding, and thrashing around in the dirt. Have a nice day and enjoy being alive and not on the other end of someone else's rifle being filmed for a profit.

      @@3MISSISSIPPI but it is really a major part of the video to watch the pig psychology. It was a very well behaved pig, and submitted to the easiest shot. It looked several times in hopes that it was not time to die, and ultimately decided to assume the position the shooter wanted of the pig, and wait for death, knowing there was no avoiding it, it had been decided one way or another. Also earlier in the video it did feel the blood in its feet a number of times. It is a good way to understand human submissive behavior also, where the submissive are then used like cattle and the well behaved are the ones who are the most abused.

      @@3MISSISSIPPI One thing about farm animals knowing when they are going to be killed, is that no one coached them to understanding it more fully. But when the animal is like that, and there's so much unknown, they do still see what's going to happen, they just don't see everything around them very well. It's in their mind, but because they don't have a complete familiarity with it, it just feels like they don't know something. But,, they absolutely know exactly when , right when it's about to happen. You walk into their vision like they are completely blinded, they see you very well, and if you spent longer at that moment, looking for them to know it, you would see it better. It's like looking at the elderly before they die,, there's so much of their mind you don't know, but you can still see them when they look at you.

    I agree with the choice, it's all about placement no matter what or who says otherwise. I've seen my first cousin at the age of 8 drop her first whitetail with a 22. LR and her father (my old man of an uncle) to this day still drops whitetail with his 10/22 when at the appropriate range. If the range is suitable with your caliber, then it's all about placement after that. Good video and it's good to see the animals are cared for. Clean pens, happy attitudes and stress free from not being packed in pens like a can of sardines like they are at slaughterhouses.

    While it's never "fun" killing an animal, its passing is respected. Eating the animal with your family at meal time shows the next generation on how proper animal husbandry works. The care for the animal, only taking what you need and the labour required throughout the life and death cycle instils values that can never be taught in a supermarket.

    I’m not knocking the .22 for slaughter or you guy in anyway but I have seen the shot go wrong many times from some experienced hands. With the .22 the margin for error is small. I’ve been using a .44 magnum short rifle platform for dispatch the last few years it’s worked out really well it’s a lot more forgiving on shot placement. Aside from losing a little jowl from time to time usually the round dosent make it past the skull.

    • @zachz699
      @zachz699 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, I like a 9mm hollowpoint from a 5 inch barrel. Stays right in the head and there is much larger margin for error on the skull. Easier to handle too so you can fork the pig or pet it or whatever with your free hand and get it feeling good and standing/laying still, then it doesn't even know what happened. Brains do have vitals as well so you cant just shoot things wherever you like in the head if you want tit to be immediate.

  • @thomaslombard8058
    @thomaslombard8058 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Very professionally done. .22 calibre has a much wider range of use than people give it credit for. And I also appreciate how you dispatch your pigs as well. Even when walking in there with the rifle it has no sense of fear or foreboding so obviously you treat them well. Not only is it ethically sound but also makes for better, tastier meat because as you well know, animals that suffer before or during the slaughter produce the stress hormone that spoils the meat.

      Meat and animal products come from animals . Raising them with great and ensuring a humane end is important . A single shot to the brain is instant lights out . There is no suffering. You may choose to not use animal products but others do and we choose to do it ourselves vs buying industrially raised meat and products where the animals aren’t treated well . Instead of name calling you should focus your upset at industrial farms not small local farms that are treating these animals correctly.

Whether you call them feral pigs, boar, swine, hogs, or even razorbacks, wild pigs are one of the most damaging invasive species on Earth, and they're notorious for damaging agriculture and native wildlife. A big reason they're so harmful is that they uproot soil at vast scales, like tractors plowing a field. Harmful organisms and pathogens, carried by feral swine, which can infect humans include diseases such as leptospirosis, toxoplasmosis, brucellosis, tularemia, trichinellosis, swine influenza, salmonella, hepatitis and pathogenic E. col. It’s estimated that wild pigs destroy more than A$100 million (US$74 million) worth of crops and pasture each year in Australia, and more than US$270 million (A$366 million) in just 12 states in the USA. Wild pigs have also been found to directly threaten 672 vertebrate and plant species across 54 different countries. This includes imperiled Australian ground frogs, tree frogs, and multiple orchid species, as pigs destroy their habitats and prey on them. Damn a wild pig. And the farmers that raise them should be applauded for their efforts.

    @lowkey4748 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    I can see vegans side, when I see an animal killed or being killed, while it seems normal to everyone around, it kinda affects me and makes me think about life. But a living organism is just a huge complex mix of components, interactions and mechanics. Let's go back, in a very basic way, to the early stages of life where unicellular beings looked to incorporate smaller ones in order to get the elements they need to keep and sustain themselves... basically some of them come together in order to increase their chances, so they keep evolving and evolving until reach the life forms we coexist/are today... so animals in specific, eating each other is just a large manifestation of this same early desire. Animals need to eat each other, and so do and can we... no one said life was meant to be all about happiness, as it is only a human perspective. If you want to blame someone for killing and eating an animal, don't blame these people because they are intelligent beings that can choose what to eat and change to diet based on plants, blame life. Sorry to taking it too long, just wanted to express my unchanging view about this moral topic.

    The one thing I've heard from a friend, not a friend of a friend, but an actual, true to life, in the flesh, friend that I've discussed this with in the past is how important it is to have your hog calm and not moving for your shot. He suggested feeding them at that moment, which also adds to the humane part as they are going out doing what they like to do. Also, it is best for one at a time because if you and the other trigger person are not synced up, the first shot may spook the hog that hasn't been dispatched yet, causing that shot to miss the mark and a whole lot of unnecessary drama to ensue. Hope this helps everyone who took the time to read it.

    As a hunter I genuinely love and care for animals and believe firmly that to respect the animal and to humanely kill it for food are not mutually exclusive, it is way more preferable to consuming animals raised for slaughter houses in mass. An argument can possibly be made for vegetarianism being more humane, but even then plants are living creatures as well (though not understood to be life in the sense that animals are) and some people can't live a vegetarian lifestyle because it isn't really an option due to health or available food sources.

      @@3MISSISSIPPI i dont find it funny, animal expects love but gets his brains blown. but its a quick death. and i never said that it comes packaged. slaughterhouses exist. this is by far more humane, it still is sad though because of your reaction laughing at an animal expecting love with a gun to its face. its not funny.

    For folks that are new to killing hogs, I'd recommend the .22 magnum (WMR). Gives better energy and penetration if your placement isn't perfect, but doesn't over penetrate and damage meat. it's also still pretty quiet and recoil free.

    This is indeed the fastest (instantaneous), cleanest (in terms of meat integrity) and most humane way to kill an animal. The animal is instantaneously rendered braindead (meaning *absolutely zero consciousness* , leading to a complete inability to feel pain).
    It’s the best way to spend a bullet, in my honest opinion. 👍

    • @Operational117
      @Operational117 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dougpage1132 Maybe not a genius, but at least a person who thinks as logically as possible, keeping every possibility open and fact-checking everything I intend to say/write. And this is the train of thought I had when writing the original comment:
      The brain is the vessel that houses the mind. The mind is logically the only thing that can understand and remember pain (the brain itself doesn't do so directly, as it's just a vessel; it decodes signals from other parts of the body for the mind to understand, it stores memories for the mind to read/watch/listen to and remember). When the brain is destroyed, so is the mind. And the brain can be destroyed instantaneously by piercing it (with a spear, arrow or bullet).
      A bullet is generally the best option, as it flies fast enough to pierce and destroy the brain before any pain is able to reach it, and it's got enough momentum to easily break through the skull that protects the brain.
      However, using a gun is risky, as you need to ensure that his head doesn't just suddenly turn away as you fire. The bullet is tiny compared to the head of a pig, and thus, even if you miss the brain, you may still end up hitting him, causing unnecessary pain. This is the reason why she took her time lining up the shot, as otherwise she'd risk causing the suffering she set out to avoid. And if you completely miss, you may end up hitting something else (like an innocent bystander, or the bullet careens into the sunset, potentially hitting someone far away; either situation *will* have legal consequences)!
      As for nerve cells scattered around the body, they are just peripherals. Their only purpose is to send/receive signals to/from our brain. If a signal never reaches the brain, the brain won't know that a signal was supposed to arrive (and neither will the mind). As such, I firmly believe that the mind's province *does not extend to the nerve cells scattered around our body!*
      As such, destroying the brain completely and effectively destroys the mind. And since the mind is the only thing capable of understanding and remembering pain, a gunshot to the head (and thus the brain) will leave at most a millisecond of pain (most likely the pain won't even reach the brain before the deed is done).
      TL;DR:
      Brain is the center of our mind. Mind is the only thing capable of understanding and remembering pain. Destroy the brain = destroy the mind. Mind destroyed = no pain understood and no pain remembered. Bullet to the head = brain destroyed = mind destroyed... you get the gist.
      If you miss by an inch, you may cause suffering ("the very thing you swore to destroy", as famously said by General Kenobi himself). If you miss entirely, you may injure someone else, and if so, good luck defending that in court.
      At least, that's my train of thought.

    Just a tip on that drop leg holster- You should be able to get a proper grip on it without leaning over, faster and you don't have to readjust when you to go shoot. Or get a safariland mid ride or the low ride and add a leg strap to it. they attache straight to the belt but lets it hang down lower, it won't move around as much as a full drop leg which makes it easier to pull from and it still lets it get lower and out of the way
