I being a Hindu, still don't get the reason why the Jews crucified Jesus. If someone is saying that he had heard messages/revelations from God and wants to reveal it to the masses, is that a crime? And even if it was a crime back then (which I certainly don't think it was), did it deserve such a brutal punishment? You don't want to believe in someone's preaching - leave Him alone. Let Him reach out to people who believe in Him. You are no one to dictate what He was supposed to do. That's because half the people on the planet are not fools. They are not following His teachings for no reason. People saw something in Him and therefore they looked up to Him. He must have possessed that power to lead people to success, salvation, and so on. That's the reason why so many people worship Him.
Human nature
The Jews wanted Jesus to be crucified and handed Jesus to the gentiles to be crucified because they didn't see Jesus as just another man who heard messages/revelations from God and revealed it to the masses..
Jesus revealed through various instances that He is the promised Messiah.. He is GOD. The Jews greatly feared and trembled at the name of the Lord God but Jesus addressed God as Father and called himself God's Son (John 5: 17-27; John 3: 35-36; John 6: 35-41; Luke 1:30-35; Matthew 11: 25-27; Mark 1: 10-11; Luke 9: 18-26; Luke 10: 21-22; John 5 37‐39; John 19:7... etc,.etc...etc.. )
Jesus repeatedly calls Himself the "Son of Man" and "Son of David" which were terms used for the Messiah (Daniel 7: 13-14; Ezekiel 1:26; Matthew 24:30; Mark 2:5-12; Mark 8: 27-31; Mark 10: 32-33; Luke 22:48;Mark 10: 45; Matthew 22: 42; John 5: 25-27; Luke 19:37-39... etc...etc)
When the High Priest asked Jesus whether He is the Christ and the Son of God, Jesus says that He Is (Mark 14:61-64; Matthew 26:63-67; Luke 22: 66-71)
He also testified to Pilate (the governor who judged Jesus) that He is the King and He is not of this world (Matthew 27:11; Mark 15:2; John 18: 33-38; John 19: 6-12)
Jesus Christ is the Lord and God.. the Messiah, without whom every man lives condemned under the wrath of God because of his sins.. Jesus willingly died on the cross for you and for me .. He fulfilled the payment of our sins on the cross.. its only Jesus who can save us from our sins and give us eternal life. We are all slaves to sin and it is only Jesus who rescues us from the bondage of sin and death.. All who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord, God and Saviour are saved from the penalty of their sins.. rest are condemned to eternal death in Hell fire..

The main theme of the gospel is: For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
God,(though perfect in every measure and in no need of any service, companionship) desired in His perfect will to create man in His own likeness and image (Genesis 1:27 : "So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them;male and female He created them."),to have fellowship with Him.
But we rebelled against God and sinned against Him and the sin separated us from the loving fellowship of the loving God(Isaiah 59:2"But your iniquities have separatedyou from your God;your sins have hidden his face from you,so that he will not hear." , Romans 3:24 " for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God")
God; being HOLY, righteous and just; can never associate or tolerate even a bit of sin or unrighteousness( Psalms 5:4 " For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; no evil dwells with You” ). He must, as righteous, punish sin and the just punishment of sin or rather its due wage/payment is Death (Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.")
We were eternally doomed and eternally estranged from God and awaiting eternal death.
We cannot, as lost sinners, try to find the Holy God. A lost sheep cannot find the shepherd, its the shepherd who seeks out after the lost sheep. We cannot try to gain our salvation through works or our own effort as Isaiah 64:6 quotes"For we have all become like one who is unclean [ceremonially, like a leper], and all our righteousness (our best deeds of rightness and justice) is like filthy rags or a polluted garment; we all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away [far from God’s favor, hurrying us toward destruction]."
Since God is just, He executes the penalty of sin justly and the only just penalty of sin is death.
But God, in His love for us, sent His only begotton Son, the God and Lord Jesus; who paid the price for our sins, due to our inability to pay the price (Isaiah 53:
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces, he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,each of us has turned to our own way;and the Lord has laid on himthe iniquity of us all.; 2 Corinthians 5: 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.)
He willingly died on the cross for us, as a penalty of our sins (Philippians 2:5-8 Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained,
But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross!).
After paying the price of sin, He rose from the grave in the 3rd day. There is no other way to God, the Father apart from Jesus Christ. There is no salvation apart from Jesus (Acts 4:12Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”)
Now, God has given us opportunity to be reconciled to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 5 : 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.)
Jesus is going to come again to take His people, people who were saved by His death on the cross, and now live not in their former sins but according to God's nature.God, the Holy Spirit prepares His people to be taken in His Second coming. Romans 8:1,2 quotes "1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death".
We are lost, dead and slaves to sin without God. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He is the only way to eternal life. Rest are lost without Him, dead now to sin and will finally will face eternal death in hell.
Acts 17 : 24 The God Who produced and formed the world and all things in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in handmade shrines.
25 Neither is He served by human hands, as though He lacked anything, for it is He Himself Who gives life and breath and all things to all [people].
26 And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes),
