@@holtender1029 Fingerboard is the fretted part of the neck, often either maple or rosewood. In this case it is a 1-piece maple neck so the fretboard is part of the same bit of wood.

This reminds me so much of a friend in the early 1980s who was a keen bass player and Iron Maiden fan. I remember him struggling to play Steve Harris bass parts. And I mean struggling - a lot of the time he couldn't move the fingers of his left hand fast enough to keep up. He was entirely self-taught and through sheer hard work and persistence he made it in the end. This says so much about Steve Harris. Surely the best bass player in the history of metal.
Well, take it from someone who pretty much modelled his left hand after Steve Harris's, he is not the best player by a long shot but he is probably one of the most influential.

Billy Sheehan can give most rock bassists a run for their money........and I am a huge Maiden fan.....have actually met Nicko at a drum clinic in the 80s. Great guy too.

Love how you get all the nuances in this and the correct tone!!! This song to me, is the benchmark of all maiden tunes. I learned this around 94 as a beginner(the first tough song I took on), but it was from a Metal Bass Tab(had Sheehan on the cover) book and had some errors(especially that bass break in the middle)... Wish things like TH-cam and your channel was around back then, I play too "smooth" to get this tone right, and wish I could get a legit sound for this!! Anyways cheers!! Keep up the good work!!!

First of all may I say very well done. As a bassist I know how to play a lot of different songs/basslines (all the way through). However I'm just now getting to level where I have the dexterity to get this. It's a huge challenge to hack any Maiden bassline in my humble opinion as of now. Steve Harris has inspired so many bassist and how could he not?! Holds the rhythm perfectly and matches the intricate guitar runs when called for. I.d.w. sound as if I'm brown nosing but being able to play that so cleanly tells me you put in a lot time and practice over the years.

I didn't have a CD player growing up, so the cassette that had that song almost got worn out by me rewinding at 2:51 to hear the bass ... the guitar is insanely good, but I was in AWE of those 30+ seconds of bass at that point. I covered this the other day. I just Recorded myself playing so I can watch and see how I need to improve. I Havent consistently played bass in a number of years. It was tough, My career is taking its toll on my muscles, so my picking hand and forearm were aching a little bit, so I wasn't always in time and I would almost lose the groove Haha. But Awesome cover, this was an extremely tight performance.

Anyone else notice how prominent Dennis's guitar track is here? Always loved his playing. Backing track sounds like an unmastered version of the song. It all sounds like the way I've wanted to hear. %100 awesome.
I discovered Di'Anno era after diving into Maiden wth Bruce. Debut album blew my mind, esp Dennis's sound, style and backing vox allways made me fav this album. Huge fan of Adrian, but this here is smth special.
@@korhansoydan Same, knew Bruce first. Actually hated the first album first time I heard it, with a passion. Only listened to 15 seconds of prowler and left it. Gave it a second chance a year later and got blown the fuck away. Huge fan of IM debut, Killers is good but very different from this. Dennis really kills it in every way.
In fact Steve's track is totally muted here. I re-mixed the song myself with genuine other tracks with MY OWN bass track and then mastered it with an analog plug-in to render the feeling of the time.

This is one of the songs me and my brother( on drums) used to play regularly back in the day with my old band.
Awesome bit of music and really good for maintaining ones stamina in the right hand and forearm, try to play it and it won´t take long before you feel it.
That part at 4:39 man. Every time, memories and nostalgia. Like my first concert ever, Ullevi 2005 with about 55k people jumping and screaming in sync... Kind of makes everything you see after that show to feel a bit lacking...
