This cover has what a lot of Maiden bass covers don't...
It's not just about the way the strings are plucked, or having a signature bass w/ steve sig strings... tone has a lot to do with it.
A lot of covers have a muddy... *PHAT* type of sound that supersedes the signature sound of Steve Harris's tone. Every album is different, and FOTD had a dark and aggressive style of tone. I think you nailed it with this one. Despite having that bit of gain, you still balance it out well enough to let that rich, bell-like clarity ring out over anything else.
There's having the equipment, then there's knowing how to use it. Great job, sir!

I use 45-105 roundwound directly injected into Logic Pro via a Komplete sound card. The effects are: Logic EQ and Logic Comp. That's it! The rest is my fingers, then my bass.

So glad I found this because I’m trying to learn it on my bass. I have the same bass as you but in white. I was trying to follow what Steve was doing in the different parts, and here it’s much clearer since they keep switching to different musicians on the live concerts. Merci!

I used to play 6 string guitar but an illness (MS) caused me to stop playing, and didnt play for many years (I couldnt feel the strings) but my doctor encouraged me to take the guitar up again to help my hannds, so I got myself a Bass guitar and have been (attempting) to play again, and it worked. I only discovered your channel recently and being an Iron Maiden fan was instantly hooked. @@rajeshhkkapoor8549 If I remember well, Didier do not use flatwounds, he uses roundwounds. I too use rounds; even though I play a lot of Iron Maiden's songs I do not like flats at all. I tried the Rotosound Harris signature, but only because they were included with the bass, when I bought the Fender West Ham bass. So I tried them.
But I took them off after a couple of days: terribly stiff and too big, and they sound bright for a short time. It takes Hulk's strenght to play them 😆, or maybe I am too old 😆...
No, seriously...
I like the rounds much better.
And Didier demonstrates that it is possible to obtain a tone very similar to Steve's with the roundwound strings too.
Of course, to be good at playing as Didier is, it helps a lot with the result... But, do not give in! All can become better with practice and hard work! I know it well myself!
