When I was young Steve Harris was me and my best friend’s hero. We recently got in touch with each other after over 20 years of not speaking. We are in our 50’s now and he told me that he had started playing bass, He mentioned a bunch of songs he was trying to learn. I asked him if he was trying any Maiden. He said that he hadn’t listened to them in a very long time. So, a few weeks ago I sent him a couple of your videos. He text me on Thanksgiving and told me he had just ordered a Steve Harris Signature Bass online. I think you made an impression and brought back some memories. 👍
Epic cover of my favorite Maiden epic song. I think out of their 80s albums the bass sounded the best on Piece and Killers. Low rumble that was missing from the later 80s albums.
An always mesmerizing bass line and song. The reflection on your pickguard is also mesmerizing. Parts such as 0:56 to 1:16 it looks like an alien planet surface image akin to the photos of Venus' surface from the Soviet Venera program. Fitting for the song, eh?
I fucking love this! Steve Harris is why I started playing the bass! Had a six string first, but saw Maiden in Las Vegas on the Powerslave tour with Warrior back in 85. Rushed out and got a B.C. Rich NJ Warlock.
I’m a guitar player... but actually watching what the bass player is doing... F#ckin@ AWESOME! Kudos to you!!! Respect! I copied Dave’s B&W Strat as a first guitar... 35 yrs later I’m still playing it to Maiden tunes!
Very awesome! Both playing and tone. You are surely one of the best of those who made bass covers of Iron Maiden. It is indeed, as you said, one of the most technical bassline by Steve Harris. This is one of the "forgotten" songs by Iron Maiden: they should play it live sometimes! This song, and also Alexander The Great, Mother Russia, The Prophecy, The Duellist, Prodigal Son... and some more! A tour all dedicated to the forgotten gems of their discography would be a great idea... Sadly, they do not think so. Greetings from Italy!
This has always been one of my favorites, but the scansion in the line "He is destined to be a king" is just bad. Hearing Bruce stress the 2nd syllable just to make it fit has always bothered me. In an otherwise outstanding song on an outstanding album, that line makes me cringe every time I hear it. It's just bad lyric writing.
Another amazing cover. This has to be one of the hardest Maiden songs to pull off for a bassist. One of my most favourite songs from them and you definitely nailed it. Thanks Again. 🔥 UP THE IRONS!!! 🔥
Dude that's amazing! One of the most overlooked Maiden gems. And you can see Gedy Lee's influence on Steve on this one quite clearly I think..

Cheers mate ;) You can have a more detailed view of the tricky parts of this song in my video here if you like: th-cam.com/video/-Uo0DxycOzU/w-d-xo.html Take care. DG
Can't really recall for sure if it was Maiden or Sabbath that was my first favorite hard rock band, but no doubt that the original Dune series by Frank Herbert were and still are my favorite SciFi novels. That said, you can only (re)read a novel so many times. But you can listen to a piece of music forever and again. Just a piece of my mind ... Keep on bending them strings Didier 👍👌🔊
Awesome cover dude!! Great technique. I love Maiden's latest albums, but I really miss this type of super bass driven tunes. Piece of Mind is the album for that!

Awesome!! I’m not a bassist. I’m a physician. But it was great to have this kind of “behind the scenes experience”. Congratulations Didier. Merci beaucoup from Brazil.
This is one of the greatest Steve Harris´s songs, this is one of the best songs to play!!! cheers my friend! you rock!! Greetings from México up the irons!
I was congratulating myself that I was starting to get the section at 4 mins up to a reasonable speed. This morning I figured out exactly what Steve is playing at 4:50. That's going to take me some time to get my head around.

Merci beaucoup. Je suis justement entrain de travailler "Can I play with madness" qui sera publiée très bientôt. Au plaisir de vous lire.
Une fois de plus ..you,re a killer of bass guitar....wonderful player.....avec toi j apprend grave....chapeau mister didierharrisgerome....yeaaaahh!!!!
Merci Didier !

Up the Irons... de Montréal!
Damn dude...nailed it! Good job...and I sooo want that blue sparkle Steve Harris Signature Fender Pbass!

Cheers mate! Unfortunately it is now discontinued and replaced by this Mexican white one... The genuine blue one can only be bought second hand but very few owners may agree to sell it away I guess... Take care. DG

Hang on a minute, is it your job to cover the hardest iron maiden songs perfectly? 😂 what a legend!
Thank you very much ;)
Quite possibly the most technical piece that Steve has ever written, and also one of my personal favs. Well Done DG, Salute!
I admire DG’s pinky finger strength. I play the pull offs by siding up and pulling with my index finger. DG does it with his pinky. Damn.
An absolute pleasure to get to watch you play this. One of my favourite Maiden songs and so expertly executed.
Thank you very much ;)
Epic cover of my favorite Maiden epic song. I think out of their 80s albums the bass sounded the best on Piece and Killers. Low rumble that was missing from the later 80s albums.
Thanks ;)
One of my favourite Maiden songs!! wonderful!!!
Cheers ;)
Such an underrated maiden tune. Amazing cover of an amazing song. Steve's bass playing makes their sound.
Thank you ;)
Some of my favorite bass playing from my favorite Maiden song, Irons Up!
maybe one of the best bass lines of Steve, great work again Didier
Thank you ;)
And the most difficult and tiring by his statement. Bravo man
Thank you, bass brother!
Ya hit it outta the park, leaving the world a better place.
Up those Irons!
Thanks ;

This is the hardest bass part Steve Harris ever wrote, it doesn't let up for a second. Well played Sir
🤘😈🤘
Thanks ;)
My favourite song of the great Steve Harris
We have to find that person that dislike this video.
Make him pay!
This is classic bass playing !
I have a few prospects... And from my own flesh and blood circle. Thanks for the hidden compliment btw. 😎
Great job covering this marathon song. I love that you have Steve's tone down, best I've heard in a cover.
Thanx ;)
I fucking love this! Steve Harris is why I started playing the bass! Had a six string first, but saw Maiden in Las Vegas on the Powerslave tour with Warrior back in 85. Rushed out and got a B.C. Rich NJ Warlock.
As Lord Vader would say: Impressive. Most impressive.🤘🏼
Cheers ;)
Wicked playing! One of the most darkest and underrated maiden songs. Always on my top maiden songs 💪 👊
To Tame A Land & Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, My 2 favorite Iron Maiden tunes, Nice work!
Same here
I’m a guitar player... but actually watching what the bass player is doing... F#ckin@ AWESOME! Kudos to you!!! Respect! I copied Dave’s B&W Strat as a first guitar... 35 yrs later I’m still playing it to Maiden tunes!
That was so satisfying to watch and listen! One of my favorite songs from maiden. You nailed it brother 👏 🙌
Thank you. Don't hesitate to share my vids ;) Cheers !
My favorite Maiden song , great playing!
Duna + Iron Maiden = obra-prima
Absolutely perfect job , my favorite of the album since a long long time ...

Greetings from Italy!
I think everybody would like to listen to the songs you mentioned!! But I think this will never happened
Cheers ;)
Don't forget Still Life... Bruce and Steve have discussed doing a tour of just epic long songs, so you never know.
This song was waaay ahead of its time. Great cover by the way :)
This is like a bass triathlon!!
Cheers ;)
Steve Harris onece said this is his Favorite Iron Maiden song

@@throatwobblermangrove8510 I agree.
The feeling is kind of "wow the hell i finish this? Just put this, no one look" 😅

Thanks ;)
that was awesome mate. Harris was on fire back then & you found the embers & got them smokin sweet!
What an insane song.... Well played!
Cheers ;)
Found this when telling a friend who plays bass to learn this. Well done!
4:04 Best part!
Great performance! I love the lyrics, I am a huge fan of Dune, my favorite sci fi book
Cheers ;)
Can't really recall for sure if it was Maiden or Sabbath that was my first favorite hard rock band, but no doubt that the original Dune series by Frank Herbert were and still are my favorite SciFi novels.
That said, you can only (re)read a novel so many times. But you can listen to a piece of music forever and again. Just a piece of my mind ... Keep on bending them strings Didier 👍👌🔊
oh, oh, oh....this moments with only your bass playing are great. superb Job...
Awesome cover dude!! Great technique. I love Maiden's latest albums, but I really miss this type of super bass driven tunes. Piece of Mind is the album for that!
Indeed ! Cheers mate ;)

Awesome!!!! 👍🤘been jammin Steve Harris Iron Maiden bass licks for 40 years now one of my favorite bassist 👍

my feveret songs!!!
Another awesome cover! Great production! Your bass sounds killer!
Cheers and the sound you hear is from the bass itself. Only a tiny EQ and comp. That's it.
Where are the times...me and my brother we were listening to this again and again. Thank you for your effort! You' ve transferred me to that time.
Cheers Nina ;)

Incredible! A Great Album And A Great "World Piece" Tour. This Took Place At The Long Beach Arena. Twisted Sister And Saxon Opened.
Énorme !! sacré niveau technique et de vitesse. Impossible pour moi de tenir le tempo !! Bravo
Un grand merci !
One of my all time favorites! Even when it was just you playing, I still kept the drumbeat going as I jammed along, great times and great job!
Enfin !
Thank you ;)
Very nice playing, I don’t think I’ve heard a better cover…
Thank you ;)
I really like everything about how you’ve done your video, bravo my man, bravo !
Cheers ;)

I'm hooked on your bass covers, mate. As someone who is thinking of learning bass, i can only really dream of playing like this..
Thank you very much. I can give lessons on Skype too ;)

The bass line at 4:38 is legally prescribed as a boner pill in most countries.
Good to know ;)
Exactly, i LOVE that bass line omfg
Another great work!
Thank you ;)
I really enjoyed this! It was really interesting to compare it with the same cover by Bruno Masquio, yours is a lot more aggressive,
