A couple of weeks ago, I drove down to Madison to pick up a new Northstar Phoenix from Rutabaga Paddlesports. Of course, it needed to be paddled immediately. ;-)
I have a Northstar Phoenix in BlackLite... they are truly sportscars of the water. If you are of any size, they are not ideal for multi-day tripping, but for a day out.... super fun! (I'm a fairly large guy 6'4" 220). For real tripping I always suggest something with a bigger belly, like a classic prospector shape. But if you just want to get out for a day and have a blast... OH YES! I love my Phoenix. And it always gets compliments whenever I am out. Enjoy!

Sorry about the belated reply. I had to consider whether to answer because I've been a Canon shooter since I got a degree in Photography back in the late 90s. ;-) This Phoenix is the IXP layup in Ruby with wood gunwales and trim. It's beautiful, durable, and paddles like a dream!
