School bus start-up and drive - 2019 IC CE Cummins air brakes

- I've been waiting a while for the stars to align for this one - it's a 2019 IC CE with the big 6.7L Cummins ISB, 💨💨air brakes, air ride, air DOOR💨💨, LED lights. Start-up, pre-trip, and POV drive.
It's been a few months since I've driven air brakes so I'm a little rusty, as are the brakes!

I drive the 2022 IC CE with the Cummins and I love it. Our District is getting the 2024's very soon and my bus is one of the first to be replaced. Can't wait

Is this for charter use i know the yard in lawnaide nj uses these mainly as charters
I was at a first student lot the other day and I got to go inside inside they rate you on your driving by acceleration and idling and braking is that true ?
Yes: speeding, heavy acceleration, hard braking, idling time all factor in. The acceleration trigger point is high enough that the full-size buses can't accelerate that fast, but the Chevy cutaway mini-buses can.

Is this used for charter runs i know at the lawnside nj yard these are mainly used for charters
Our location doesn't have separate vehicles for charters, this is a daily route bus. They have two or three sister buses to this one in Englewood, not sure how they use them there.

No, I don't have a daily route at the moment. I cover callouts and often drive the afternoon activity bus ("late bus")

Do you mean temperature? We get down to maybe 8F / -13C in the winter here, no problems.
@@yitznewton yes, here in iowa we get down to -15F. since then having had problems with them running.

How Fast Is this I ce Cummins Bus?
LOL not very. It has a big torque shove right off the line, but not much power up top.
@@yitznewtonthat’s the Cummins for ya. My district’s Cummins CEs perform the same. For my bus By the time it gets to 4th gear it’s struggling to go any faster than 45mph when going uphill. Almost 2300 rpm too.
@@yitznewtonthe DT seems much more powerful to me. It maintains the big torque shove past 45mph.
