- Dario Costa became the first person to fly a plane through a tunnel, taking off in one tunnel and flying his race airplane into and out of the second at 250kph to set several world records and enter aviation history. Dario is an experienced professional race pilot and whilst he had been dreaming of attempting this for years, he knew it would be a complicated challenge.

His reaction is so human and relatable. First nothing at all, while you check everything is okay. Then the screaming while still high on the adrenaline of what you just accomplished, followed by an emotional realisation of the work and effort that finally was rewarded.
I was going to say that it took a few seconds, for it to sink in and realize he managed to do it and everything was alright... almost like he was living in the past or something.😁

I love that emotional release after it was over. You only see that kind of reaction out of people who are fiercely passionate, laser focused and dedicated beyond most people's understanding. The amount of work and sacrifice and commitment that goes into a one minute moment in time - it must be a truly profound experience to accomplish something so extraordinary.
His focus in the tunnel is epic. Still as a corpse while in the midst of the storm. Professional until he was in a safe spot then the release. True professional.

It would be great to hear something about the preparations and also about how you were able to get the permission to fly through the tunnel. Congratiulations to this awesome achievement and as always, Red Bull did an exceptional job filming this project. At one day, I would also like to have a glider project filmed like this.

He took off his watch and perfectly set it in place in the dash, with a quarter turn and then a slight touch of the visor, it slid down perfectly into place and then game on! Jesus, the movements are even dramatically polished… I have never flown, but I could definitely imagine myself flying this little hot rod.

Y'know what would have been really funny to do? After they're done filming this, land the plane and _drive_ it through the tunnel. Then you could release a separate prank video entitled "Driving a plane through a tunnel." Even better if there are a few cars to drive in traffic with the plane. Or alternately the plane could have just flown a few feet lower the first time so the wheels were touching the ground, that might count as driving too.

I don't see how it's difficult. It's not like there's wind shear in a tunnel and planes are usually pretty stable when riding ground effect otherwise landing would be insanely hard. All you have to do is keep the plane straight and level in zero turbulence, it doesn't seem very hard.
@@sigmaballz1469 watch again. You can see he has tilted the aircraft to keep it level - that shows the difference in airflow between one side and the other. There is not linear airflow in a tunnel, it's turbulent. You would see this if you lit a distress flare inside.
