Traxxas TRX4 Front Mount Battery [KYX Relocation Kit]

- There are a lot of different battery mount methods for the Traxxas TRX4.
There are LCG kit that lower it the battery in roughly the same location, there is an inner fender kit with a plate that mounts a small battery in the front of the chassis...and then there are kits like this battery relocation kit from KYX.
I went with this one as it moves the weight fully to the front of the chassis, and even relocates the servo further forward also. Kind of a win-win.
The main negative to this mount kit is how it raises the total battery height.
In this video, I step through the installation of this kit on my TRX4 Sport.
Plus, we do a before and after weighting of the truck to show exactly how much the weight distribution changes on the truck.

I use a role of dimes up front on my TRX4. It works great for rock climbing. Fits good in the front battery tray. Two face tape and a battery velcro strap.

Awesome video is always my RC brother. Protek makes a shorty pack 3s 4500mah that you can velcro right down on your front rails without a battery mount put that weight as low as it can get you don't have to relocate anything
Yep - that is exactly what I should have done...
Nice upgrade I use a 2200mah 3s battery and it would fit in that tray plus you get about 45 min of run time 👍👊

How u get 45 min out of a 2200 mah I don’t get 45 min barely out of brand new 5200 mah batteries
I use a cnhl 2200mah 60c in my Trx4 sport kit with a 1080 Hobbywing esc and stock motor and get at least 1 hour of run time. A 5000mah should give you hours
@@KurtsRCs idk I’m a basher type and it does not give me hours I can get 45 min to an hour maybe on a 5200 mah zee battery 60 c with the same truck and esc

Battery width does pose a problem. Wish someone would come out with a shorty front mount battery tray like what comes with the inner fender kit?!! I don’t wanna run those on my sport, my bronco has them. I tried making one but didn’t work out so well lol. Anyway good informational vid keep’em comin’!!

I really like smaller 3s lipo, in my CRAWLERS,, 2200mah IS ideal good run time low center of gravity! You could place it about anywhere👌.
Yes, you are correct. If you want to run a battery like that, then the front mount battery option from Traxxas might be even better.

Not sure what battery you are talking about.
The gap here is 40mm. Measure your battery to see if it is less than 40mm.

Those floppy pieces are for the stock mount to go into! just remove it from the bottom brace

The weight at the front of the truck helps with hill climbing. As the front tires go up and over an obstacle, they can almost pull the rear tires along.

I think the suspension setup and everything seems to really help it.
